Sync currently playing songs between Spotify and Deezer

A crazy idea, but an idea nonetheless. I’m tired of the amount of manual work involved in going back and forth between Deezer and Spotify where the former has FLAC capabilities that are vastly better than any mp3/ogg and the latter has vastly better recommendation system. So here’s my proposed solution to this:

I’d like a track currently playing in Spotify to have the same effect on Deezer as if I was playing that same track in Deezer at the same time and vice versa with the intention of influencing Deezer’s recommendations.

That way I keep my Spotify account with its great recommendation system, keep playing great recommended songs but at the same time Deezer keeps collecting data about songs that I’ve played in Spotify to adjust its own recommendations (such as Flow). When I return to Deezer later I don’t need to re-train Flow again, it will already know my play history. End result: time saved, switching back and forth between services is much less painful. Ideally the reverse should also be implemented, i.e. Spotify receiving the data from my currently playing Deezer tracks.

Rudy, get that whip out for me please.

Hi @Buckie

I understand your frustration but I know this is never going to happen, Spotify and Deezer are competitors and all their resource goes into trying to make their own product better than the others, they’d never let this work.

Let’s vote and see if it works maybe? That’s why we live in an age of advanced democracy, or so they say...

Hi there @Buckie

Thank you for your feedback and suggestion. We won't be working towards this idea for the time being, but it should remain open for votes, yes :thumbsup_tone2:

I recently checked TuneMyMusic.com for its Last.fm to Spotify conversion which took the whole day, but in the end I had almost all of my 13k Last.fm artists as new followed artists in Spotify besides my loved tracks as well which resulted in my Release Radar playlist having almost 200 new songs now.

Maybe it makes sense for you to play around with it to convert Spotify to Deezer and/or vice versa regularly. They also have a new feature called Sync to “keep 2 playlists from 2 music services always synchronized” which should be what you want.

It would be interesting if each music service had its own tool to import and export. They are competitors, that’s true, but if you want to keep people happy, make as much as possible to welcome them by importing playlists, favorites, albums, artists, and if they decide to leave, allow to export.

Any problem with import/export is a headache for user, who thinks: what? i have to start again? oh my God! . And as a company, you think, I want users, but i don’t want them to leave. Well, rival company feels the same. So , if the user comes from Spotify (from example) and see that s/he has no facilities for Deezer, s/he will stay with Spotify . Another option are 3rd apps, but here you find 2 problems:
- support my music service of origin or destination? Most of them do, however Amazon, doesn’t
- freemium has limits: number of songs / day from one to other. And if you want more, you have to pay. And it comes to your brain: I already pay for music, why do I have to pay more? Because there is another 3rd person (or group of persons), working as a man/woman in the middle to export from one service and import to the other.

The question is, do we need that person in the middle? When we switch between different telephone companies, they share information. The same when we change in our computer from one browser to another. Yes, the first one loses an user, and the second one “win” , but it can be the other way, what if you are the second and have one more user?

you can transfer your playlist with tunmymusic.com

Doesn’t work for me because the transferred/synced playlists don’t maintain dates and I’d like to keep a history of when exactly I added a particular track not least because of the play order. They get messed up after the dates are gone.

I can assure you this will never happen :P
