Repetitive "Shuffle my music" // keeps playing the same songs

@Anja I just checked and it is actually 49 songs. What I mean is those same 49 songs are always there - they never change. So it's not really shuffle my music - it is endlessly play the same 49 songs. To clarify user expectation here:
  1. You have a tab called My Music, which contains all the artists and albums and playlists that I have liked.
  2. So what I thought Shuffle My Music would do was take ALL that material and shuffle it.
If it does not do that, you should call it something else. Shuffle An Odd Assortment of Songs would be a more accurate description!

I've re-checked three issues I had. Let's see how Deezer improved

  1. Random songs not from your library when you first open the app - still exists
  2. Pressing "Shuffle my music" always starts with the same song - still exists
  3. Random songs, that you didn't add to the library appear on the playlist - still exists
  4. Shuffle my musics gives you almost the same output everytime (same songs, maybe a little different order) - still exists
Overall 0/4 bugs fixed.

If you’ve only just started with Deezer, Flow only knows what you picked when you signed up. So it might not get it right all the time.
The basic way to improve your Flow, is by adding more content to your favorites ❤️ Whether it’s an album, an artist, a track; Flow absorbs it all.

I do have over 200 tracks in my favorites and 40 or so artists, in theory, flow should have plenty of things to chose from without picking the same songs 6 times over 15 songs.

Ok so this thread has been going on since 8 month now, and this issue hasen't been fix yet.
Is that a well-thought feature ? I mean if your dev team can't just add a real random button to the playbar, just fire them already !

So this is my question: Why is that a feature ?

As i can see from this thread im not the only one frustated by this.

Same here. Flow plays the same corny 70s, 80s and 90s songs. Many aren’t even in my favorites and I wouldn’t normally play them. It does this no matter which device I use (eg, Google Home mini, iPhone, iPad), so I know this isn’t a “clear the cache” problem. I work in software, so I know that even a simple random number generator would pick a more mixed variety of all the songs, albums and artists I have added to favorites. I was hoping for a mix of songs/artists I like plus others that are new to me. But I get the same old corny list of 50 or so songs over and over again. Why should I continue to pay for this terrible software?

Describing the issue aside, why can't "Shuffle my music" actually shuffle all the tracks, albums and artists I have liked? And by shuffle, I mean complete randomness. That is what I expect from a feature with that title. Like having all of my MP3s loaded to Winamp with the shuffle option enabled.

Im using the desktop app on windows 10. Free subscription but I honestly would not consider upgrading as the service is essentially unusable for me.

I can search for songs and when I click play, it will usually play the track but I then cannot play another track until I close the whole programme down. If I try to play another track it will repeat the first track again. On mixes it wont let me play any subsequent track nor will the player automatically play any subsequent track. After a while the play button stops doing anything and I cant play any tracks at all, at which point I quit and find something on youtube.

A while back I complained about the hyper volume you use for adverts. I know this is a seperate discussion but is anything likely to change there? Also the only ad that plays is the ad for deezer premium, which is insensible considering the advert volume is a huge barrier to me supporting the service by subscribing since I consider it unethical, intrusive and annoying.

Thanks @dee_dirk. That should solve the problem for a lot of people. Someone might want to add that information to the article (other than the comment you added). It’s an important fix.

I have found recently (in the last few days) Deezer is not playing the same set of songs each time I use Flow. What a relief! It’s not a big selection of artists (even when asking for less favorites) but at least they aren’t the same songs all the time.

When my deezer app is running on shuffle mode it will not cycle through my entire catalog. I reached out to them and they gave me a robotic response to look at a link and if anything the link shows that even with the free app it should run through your favorite tracks. I went on a 5 hour drive 2 days ago and it would only play certain tracks and repeated some. I have gone so far as to delete the first tracks to try and force the app to play newer selections. It really frustrating. It almost seems like a ploy to get me to upgrade? Any one else have this issue?

Another feature to point out was that I wasn't notified of your reply haha. I had to log in to see whether anyone had responded... you'd think i'd get an email notification, or that my main Deezer screen (where I choose my songs etc...) would indicate somewhere that i've had a response in the community section.

Same problem here. Not only do I get the same artists, I don't hear songs from artists that I have added to favourites. I've favourited a wide range of music but all I get is 80s again.

Hey @Ana. , always quick and to the point, thanks. I tried again and, while some of the songs did change, I still notice that 80% or more keep on showing up, also after cleaning the cache. For some reason Deezer seems prone to suggest some songs and not others (same problem I noticed in Flow).
I even enabled the 4G usage because I thought it was maybe looking for cached music not to waste traffic but that did not seem to have changed anything.
I'll post a new comment if I notice some change and please let me know if any of your developers has any suggestion.

Hi there, the "Shuffle My Music" takes songs from your playlists and favorites albums, not from your artists, so if you'd like to see more songs from an artist, like more albums by them 😉

If you feel that you're getting too much of the same, try cleaning the cache and that should help too 😎

I think the shuffle my music only works with your favourite tracks (though I'm not 100% on this) which would explain the problem you're having. How many songs do you have in your favourites?

It happens every day with the Flow on the web app.

 

 

I only just rejoined, using a 152songs/10 hour playlist as a experiment today, why have i only heard less than a third of this playlist? Keeps repeating songs. I heard mumford and sons the cave 4 times, princes songs the same and one song 3 times! Twice in an hour! If i stopped it to take the dog out, on restarting will hear roughly the same songs! If I've a 152 playlist I'd like to hear all, not just some! I had this problem with Spotify, my theory is you do this on purpose so i will upgrade..... No chance! I don't mind ads or using in shuffle mode, just let me hear ALL my songs! If you are aware of these issues as i read in other posts, why instead of doing nothing? Fix it! Also why tell people to unistall app or clear cache etc? The problems are your app not my phone... Bloody annoying!

If you stop and restart, it would restart everything again so naturally some songs would play again. If you play it uninterruptedly, all songs from the playlist should eventually play.
Any update on "Shuffle my music"? For me, it generates the exact same playlist every time. I tried it in the desktop beta app as well as on the android phone app. I tried emptying the smart cache and restarting the app, but no success. I have liked 15 playlists and no albums (I guess it still doesn't work with the artists...) but does that explain the fact that I get the exact same 49 songs every time I try to "shuffle my music"?

Edit: I have a Premium+ subscription.
