Hi @kwebb !
I hope the article in the link below will help you
I appreciate the reply, and I understand that there are workarounds, but jumping through hoops to play a single song without automatically-added tracks and clearing a playlist seem like such basic functionality that I was hoping for some mechanism that didn’t require that nonsense.
It should not take 15-20 clicks to play just one song or start a new, empty queue session.
I started my free trial yesterday. I will continue to give deezer a try before finalizing my judgement, but based on all the complaints I’ve seen on this forum over the span of years, I’m not holding my breath.
Deezer is the first option I tried, and while I like aspects of it, it’s very likely that I’ll move to another service that has more respect for user time and playlist control. I’m honestly baffled by the lack of control over something as basic as what to play next.
Hey there @kwebb
There's obviously a reason you’re testing deezer, some dissatisfaction with your current provider, so perhaps you will weigh the benefits deezer offers versus what you were used to.
Whatever you decide, thanks for giving deezer a try. There are trade-offs with every service and we all need to find what works for us.
Best of luck wherever you land.

I don’t have a current provider -- this is the first service I’ve tried. I’ve mostly been listening to Internet radio stations for a long time now, and I still do frequently. It would sometimes be nice to choose what I want to listen to though, and I’d like to be able to sit down and queue things up one at a time. I don’t feel like that’s an unreasonable ask, and I’m not trying to be hostile here. This really was intended to be question, not a complaint originally, so I’ll try clarifying what I’m asking:
- In the web interface: Is there some mechanism, that doesn’t involve queuing up things that I’m not interested in listening to (flow or a playlist) and then subsequently removing them from the queue, to play one individual song?
- If the answer to 1) is “no”, is there some other client that I can use that works differently, or are they all the same? I’ve only used the web player so far, but maybe there are alternatives?
@GropplerZorn , I do appreciate the first reply’s attempt to help, but it doesn’t directly answer these questions. I’m guessing based on the “Hasta Luego” that you’re telling me I’ll need to look elsewhere to find what I’m looking for -- is that the case?
@kwebb
You wrote above "It would sometimes be nice to choose what I want to listen to though, and I'd like to be able to sit down and queue things up one at a time."
The only solution that comes to my mind is to create your playlist .
When you are not satisfied with the music that Flow offers you or playlists created by others, the only solution is to create your own playlist and put the songs you want on it, in the order you want.
Also you can change the content of the Playlist by adding new songs or removing those that you do not want to listen to at that moment.
Or simply delete all the songs from playlist and next time put the songs you want to listen to on it.
Thank you again for replying, Nina. For now, I’ve found that playing an album will overwrite the queue, so that’s mostly what I’ve been doing, and I’ll occasionally create a playlist when I need to clear it otherwise.
I’m liking everything about deezer except the queue management so far. I’ll stick it out for a month to give it a fair shot.
For anyone else coming across this thread, the answer to my questions appear to be: no, you cannot clear the queue with one button, nor can you play just one song. I still find this UI/UX decision baffling, and I know I’m not the only one.
I really wish there were some other client that could connect to the service via an API.
