How to fast forward/rewind for podcast playback on lock screen

Hi there!

I have recently moved from Spotify, and it is great, but one issue I have is when I am in the lock screen, the option to fast forward/rewind 30 seconds is not there. Only the option to completely skip to the next episode.

I haven’t been able to find any options in the settings.

I have an android by the way.

@Nina Nebo : Ali means something different from what you’re suggesting. He wants to be able to skip to the next track on the lock screen, not play it faster. That’s how I interpret it.

@ali.killilea : When your lock screen is on, swipe down from the top—you’ll see all the settings (torch, Wi-Fi), and Deezer should appear there too. If you tap it, Deezer will show up on your lock screen, and you can quickly forward or rewind a track.

Is that what you meant?

Hi @ali.killilea !

To adjust the playback speed of podcasts on Deezer's lock screen, you'll first need to enable adjustable playback speed within Deezer Labs on the Android app. Then, the playback speed controls should be accessible from the lock screen when a podcast is playing.

Open the Deezer app and navigate to your profile settings.
Find "Deezer Labs" within the settings (it may be under "Labs" or "Experiments").
Locate the option for "adjustable playback speed" and enable it.

@awesomemac yes this is what I mean.

However I can't seem to get those settings. I can't pull down any settings from my lockscreen, nothing happens, and this is what I see when I click on the Deezer option when I pull down from the screen when it's unlocked. So what I usually see on my lockscreen. No way to fast forward, just skip.

If it helps, my phone is an Honor, so may be different settings

Somehow my phone doesn't allow screenshots from the lockscreen.

I had the same issue after moving from Spotify. Noticed that too on Android. I’m using muzconvtool for the playlist move, but yeah — Tidal’s lock screen controls are limited. Hoping they update that soon!

Yes i want to be able to use my bluetooth devices and lock screen to move forward/backwards, I've also just switched from Spotify and I find it very annoying having to unlock my phone every time - especially because I'm in the habit of doing it and keep accidentally changing episodes! This is the feature from Spotify i miss this most

I too have just moved over from Spotify and completely agree. I will be using a separate app for podcasts until this is sorted. Probably more annoying for me is that I can no longer fast forward in podcasts from my headphones. 2 taps of my Shokz used to skip 15 seconds on Spotify. That action now instead starts the next podcast.

I'm also coming from Spotify (after they played ICE recruitment ads) and agree that this is a big problem with playing podcasts on Deezer. I was between this and Tidal for music, and the podcast options were having me lean towards Deezer. But the multimedia skip buttons on headphones/Android Auto have to skip forward/backward in the episode, not skip the whole episode. It annoys me enough that I'm considering just finding a separate podcast app. Hopefully they fix this soon.

I'm in the same boat as many of you - ditched Spotify, used to skipping 30 secs forward/backward within podcasts via lock screen or headphone controls. Every other app I've tried can do this.

The weird thing is that for a time, I was actually able to do this when I first installed Deezer. After a week, I was listening to music and found that after putting on a podcast next, trying to skip forward 30 secs via my headphone control skipped the whole damn episode like it was a song. At first it did this intermittently, but now I've lost the function completely. Other podcast apps still functioned normally, skipping seconds not episodes. I'm on a OnePlus Nord, Android 14.

I think what's happening is that the player has a "song mode" and a "podcast mode" and it's getting stuck in "song mode." This is so frustrating and I just paid for a family subscription and started getting used to everything. I can't touch my phone at work so I'm forced to listen to ads, etc. and it's actually a complete deal breaker for me.

I've tried everything I can think of. Uninstalled & reinstalled Deezer. Allowed all permissions. Updated app & phone OS. "Forgot" Bluetooth headphones & set connection back up. Uninstalled all other podcast apps. Rebooted phone after every step, ensured all apps & browser tabs closed. Need help or I'm going to need to cancel my subscription and keep looking. The function exists it seems but just doesn't work.
