WHT IN 2022 don’t we have the option to play an album without interruption ?? why is this available on the iPhone and not on Mac ? if it’s an option how do we enable it ?

Web version handles gapless if that's an option for you.

That's completely unbelievable: the browser version has gapless playback and the desktop hasn't...
