Auto start on login

I’m on a Mac and recently I get a notification when I start the desktop app that it has added a setting and enabled that Deezer will auto-start every time I start my computer. If I set the Deezer in-app-setting to not auto-start and remove deezer from login items under Mac settings, it will just add it again and set the in-app setting to auto-start. I’d prefer to decide on my own that to start on not to start on my computer, what’s going on Deezer?

I’d like an answer to this stat. this is abhorrent behaviour.

I’ve been having the same issues as well. I’ve tried enabling and disabling the setting in App Preferences thinking it might’ve been some kind of bug but the issue persists even after an app update. Therefore every time I start Deezer, I need to go into my Mac settings and remove it from auto-start. Not great...

Hi @dine909 @Jonkzy @mattyq I have reported the problem and our devs are aware already.
I’ve been told that a fix is on the way and will be available on the next version of the desktop app coming soon.
Thanks for your patience and apologies for the inconvenience

Thanks Jaime, appreciate the swift feedback.

Hi

I had the same problem, when I disabled in the app startup it would re-enable. FIX: In the Mac settings, under "Users and groups" in the "Startup items" tab I checked "hide" in the two entries I had for "Deezer" and it still didn't work. I tried removing the two entries for the app with the "-" sign and it worked. The app no longer opens on startup and the button is permanently disabled in its settings.

Deezer Desktop Versión 7.0.31

Mac OS Big Sur 11.7.10

@Jonkzy

Delete all the Deezer entries that you have in the "Login items" tab found in "System Preferences" - "Users & groups" I am attaching images from the internet with an example for Chrome

With these steps, the application allows you to disable it at startup in their settings and does not activate it again as happened to me before deleting the entries in "Login items"

Thanks @safetywire Looks like a different version of OS than mine (Sequoia). I tried similar settings but it did not work. Thanks anyway..

any update on this ? this is really annoying. please hurry up your dev. @Jonkzy

Hey Deezer

This is crazy UX and if we set it to disable you should not add youself to auto start.
please correct ASAP, this is really a weird behavior on your side.

I don’t understand how we cannot prevent this from MacOS either but still, how come anyone in your organization thought it was OK to decide for us to set yourself in autostart ?

When will a fix be released ?

This has been going on for such a long time, and it’s evidently not OS related. I have Windows 10 and have had to turn off the setting every time I launch the app so it doesn’t auto-start when I next turn on the computer. It’s devious and unfriendly. And annoying!

I’m so fustrated with this issue...it’s got to the point now when, after many years of subscription, I’m considering leaving Deezer for an alternative music provider. Totally unacceptable.

@Jaime.Deezer  Still does not work despite update. Any news from the devs?

Other users have reported similar issues with different apps recently — possibly related to how macOS handles login items in newer versions.

So, now four months later (actually quite a bit more!), this is still happening. This is pretty aggressive behaviour on Deezer's part. Could it be that Deezer wants to have its app open to track our usage and activity, and thus why this "bug" it taking so long to "fix."
