Why, for example, is it a disaster to go to Lady Gaga's concert?

Getting tickets to major concerts featuring music stars has become an odyssey for fans.

Now, not only do they find themselves facing virtual queues that stretch for hours, but once inside the ticket sales platforms, the cost of the seats may not be the same as previously advertised.

These prices, called dynamic pricing, are a system that adjusts ticket prices based on real-time demand.

High demand

They take advantage of the high demand to significantly raise prices. According to Eugeni Calsamiglia, the platform's former director, this is done to combat resale and prevent prices from skyrocketing on the secondhand market.

"People pay what they want to pay. Tickets end up being sold, so the price is unknown. The problem is that, when we put them on sale, those tickets no longer cost 190 euros, but 800, so we leave the scalper a small margin, and it may not be worth it. In the end, you decide; no one is going to give you a ticket," he explained to Europa Press in 2018.

400 euros in the stands

This is what happened with the price of Lady Gaga's tour tickets. The base price ranged from €55 to €180, but they have increased with demand, reaching €400 in the stands.

Furthermore, VIP packages have reached prices as high as €630, causing significant frustration among buyers.

In response, the singer's fans have expressed their discontent on social media, denouncing the system as making concert-going an affordable luxury for a fortunate few.

And you, how much did the last tickets to the one you attended cost?

Let's talk about it in the comments section! 👇
