Since the 'free' upgrade to HiFi was rolled out Deezer is using huge amounts of streaming data.

Before I would have my streaming settings set to 128kbs and would use about 1.5GB a month during my normal use, approx an hour a day, maybe 20 days in a month.

Now, Deezer will use approx 100-150MBs per song, regardless of streaming quality selected.  This seems to calculate as being stuck in HiFi quality at all times.  Twice now this has left me stranded with no data and unable to use GooglePay.

I have deleted cache data, deleted downloaded songs, tried the beta, set the smart cache to both infinity and 0.  Download while on mobile is also disabled.  I have rolled back a few versions also but to no avail.  It happens on my premium account regardless of phone.

I have searched online and see that this is a frequently occuring issue, also mentioned in this community, which is then palmed off as a 'reality of streaming services', which is of course total nonsense.

Is there any fix to this issue?  It will sadly mean the end of my days with Deezer after some 5 years.

Thanks.

Hey @Gordon.Banks

unfortunately I do not have a different answer than the ones you have already found in the community.

Hifi quality consumes more :(

The only solution to consume less would be to play your downloads while being offline.

I'm not using HiFi, that's the point.  Regardless of what streaming setting I'm using the data usage remains the same.

Why?

hey @Gordon.Banks could you please provide some extra info with screenshots of the data usage after a song or two as you mentioned, in order to investigate with the data team, because even in HiFi you should not use more than 600-700 MB per hour.
Thanks for your help
