Dear Rudi

How can it be that both spotify and tidal have the "connect" feature, their users can switch between destinations in a glance, and we, deezer users have to use a 3rd party app?

By the way, on  BluOs support they say it's on deezer side

Look, in the end of the day, we are just small users looking for a better listening experience.

In order to get the HIFI quality I have compromised a lot on the user interface when I moved from spotify to deezer

JUST trying to help you guys to close the gap to the other streaming services that supplying a better user interface.

Explanation is also sounds logical to me that chromecast audio does dowloading within it self independant from mobile phone.it seems correct, when i close my wireless on the phone, album keeps playing, data transfer is done between router and chromecast, not from the phone.we need to check what the router transfers on that time.not the phone transfer.

Yes. I checked my Chromecast-data traffic itself on my wifi and it gives me the similar results. Uses minimal data, doesn't seem to be FLAC ....  ??? (All my settings are in HiFi for sure)

Did you check data between chromecast-phone or chromecast-router? You have to check router one.

With the app I have I check the connection between Chromecast and Acces Point, so it's the same as Chromecast-Router.

Explanation could be there's compression and de-compression going on? Is that possible with Flac?

Now im hopeless, its definitely lossy if you monitored correctly :(((

Okay, I just tried to monitor data traffic directly from the router. But I am not a real technical person. I cannot make a definitive conclusion.there are better results now, Like 75 megabytes for 3 songs. So that really seems like FLAC quality to me. reading this from the router doesn't allow me to completely rule out other devices at home. But other connected devices should not consume much data.

That could happened because that last song was just HQ. Not all songs are FLAC.

@Rudi ios 14.1 is installed on my phone. Device is chromecast built in (Naim Mu-So Qb2).

Thanks!

Hi Rudi,

I’ve been facing a similar issue for a few days.

After switching off and on again my chromecast Audio, it happened that I “lost” the Hifi icon and audio quality when streaming from the deezer app running on my Samsung GS10. (latest app version as at today).

All settings are on Hifi, and I tried JHarris trick that unfortunately didn’t work. (back and forth HQ/HiFi)

Prior to that, all had been working fine for a while with the same setup (streaming device, wifi network, chromecast, devialet speakers,...) Has the deezer app version upgraded in the meantime? I’m not sure to be honnest. I just tried with the latest beta and official release app and issue is the same.

Hope you guys can figure out if that is a bug that can be fixed. CCA audio remains an excellent way to stream hi res audio from an android device to system with no built-in chromecast.

Best,

Gabriel

Can confirm streaming hifi to chromecast audio from a Samsung galaxy s10 running android 11  doesn't work.

Using latest app. When playing music on my phone hifi label shows, as soon you start casting hifi label disappears.

Not worth 15 (!) euros a month. Literally deezer hifi selling point is not working. This is on the border of scamming your customer.

I'm cancelling my subscription as deezer doesn't support hifi streaming to Google chromecast audio.

If you have the right speakers for it, you can definitely sense the difference @Placido09 but generally, I totally get your point.

And @Placido09 is right as well @tal.v if our catalogue has the file (sent from the labels) in FLAC, Chromecast will play in that format, regardless. If the track format available is only MP3, you won't see the HiFi label on your phone or TV.

Also tried from my ipad. Same results. No hifi only low bitrate mp3. Analysed with network meter.

Your help is super appreciated @tal.v, absolutely!

And I agree with you. The good news is that the "connect" feature is on the works at Deezer too. In 2021 this is one of our major focuses, together with improving the existing integrations as well. We're also the underdogs looking to provide you with a better listening experience!

And not streaming in HiFi can't be on our side, only. Could you please give me the details of the person in BluOS who said that? I'll share that with our devs.

Your English is great @sipre you've got a point there. But as I mentioned here to @tal.v, we're looking to free ourselves from that in 2021 - please stay tuned!

And Rudi's argument that we can't compare deezer hifi to tidal is not true. A lossy audio file is around 3-7MB, a lossless file at least 15-20MB,no matter what encoding it has. So it's fairly easy to tell what quality is being streamed.

Deezer is not streaming hifi to chromecast audio. Selling their product under false pretenses. It would be okay if deezer would be upfront and honest about it, instead that have a community manager like Rudi that lies to its customers. Shameless money grab.

Hi,

I have the same problem as @Hester

When I cast to my Google TV the hifi icon doesn't appear.

My app is up-to-date and here is the link of a song: https://deezer.page.link/EvrcrRG63Dey8hk86

It' d be great to confirm, also, if Deezer cast Hifi to Chromecast audio.

Thanks in advance!

Year later and still the same, HIFI logo is gone when casting to Chromecast Audio (not streaming from the phone, casting… phone is just a remote controller, you can turn it off when casting is started.. stream goes directly to CCA, it seems that many of you don’t understand this..).

And according to data bandwidth it’s not just the logo, lossless stream doesn’t go to chromecast, only 320 kbps..

And CCA or any other chromecast is perfectly capable of streaming lossless (HIFI) ..

But obviously developers don’t care, I guess 99% users just use their phones and cheap earphones.. so who cares for us who actually want to use it for what it is advertised ..

I just want to use native Deezer android or iOS app and control streamer with that, and every integration in different players suck (no real Deezer app), maybe only sonos is ok, but sonos is lifestile product, not HIFI, so pointless.

CCA is perfect cheap little device with optical output so I can connect it to some serious DAC, and most important it works with original deezer apps.. but.. obviously no one cares ..

The Chromecast Audio was killed by Google in 2019 so it’s not supported anymore read the article: https://techcrunch.com/2019/01/11/google-cans-the-chromecast-audio and btw it’s sending the audio in lossless .flac only it doesn’t show you that it does.

Yea, I know CC Audio is discontinued, but as I can see from other comments it’s the same with any other stand alone chromecast, or built in chromecast functionality in various devices.

Maybe is streaming FLAC in some cromecast devices, but confusing with logo disappearing ..

There are basically only two ways to get Deezer HIFI  from native Deezer app to real HIFI sistem. Computer with web player + usb DAC → audio system  (yes, stand alone app doesn't even have cast option)

or

cast to chromecast compatible device - much more convenient, you can use phone, tablet or laptop ..

Every other solution implemented in audio streamers from different brands doesn't use real Deezer app but it is inside streamer app, mostly with confusing interface, no flow etc..

Thanks for sharing @javidt

You've got your confirmation as well :relaxed:

Thank you @tal.v the answer is inaccurate, that's only if they decide to develop on their side - but don't worry, I'll pass this on

Hi Rafael,

I noticed the same issue than hari_sankar98. when I’m connect through USB on my DAC, I have the HIFI icon displayed. when I cast with CCA the icon disappear.

I’m using a Topping E30 DAC (connected on USB or on CCA via toslink optique)

actually I’m on trail Deezer HIFI, and want to take a promotional 1 year contract with Deezer HIFI, but it make sens only if my signal on Chromecast still on HIFI. On the application, audio setting, (custom) I’d select HIFI resolution.

That isn't casting @akdmnt and the icon displayed only moves from the mobile app :relaxed:

Have you tried Chrome instead?

Have you tried Chrome instead?

  1. Deezer Desktop on Chrome → Chromecast audio
  1. Deezer App on iPhone → Chromecast audio

In case 1 the HiFi icon is visible in album cover. In case 2 the HiFi icon disappears.

Are you casting using Chromecast audio to compatible device to Deezer HiFi?

Thanks for reaching out about this @dilettante it's neither to be honest. Our Chromecast integration makes the logo move from the app to the TV screen - but because you have the Audio device, you don't see this :relaxed:

Hi, I’m new here and I’m trying Deezer HiFi. I have some doubt about the HiFi quality when used with Chromecast audio (and with normal Chromecast).
by monitoring the traffic network there's a huge difference in the speed and Mb transferred between the android app and the Chromecast.
