Deezer and Chromecast Audio problems

I use Deezer for a few years and liked it way better than Spotify, but the problems with connection with the Chromecast audio will perhaps make me eat my hat and move to Spotify or some other alternative.

Sometimes it works after 1 or 2 close and re-open the app, but most of the times the bloody "loading, almost there just a few seconds" thing keeps on forever.

I am using a Pixel 3 and a chromecast audio. About to move to a competitor after many months of unresolved issues.

Hi @Rudi, any news on the chromecast improvements in the app? The last Deezer version doesn’t solve the problem the app loses the connection with the chromecast audio after a short while or after switching apps. Chromecast keeps playing the selected list but the app can’t control the list without re-connecting manually in the app. Strange: the Google Home app does keep control of the deezer-connection…

Heyya! Sorry we're just getting back to you now!
If you haven't changed your mind already - you can try the following:

  • clear the app's cache (settings>>account settings>>smartcache)
  • delete/reinstall
  • ensure a functional internet connection
Also: is the error occurring with the same frequency/at all if you set the audio settings to a lower quality?

HI @scott.goetz sorry about that. We have had problems with Chromecast on iPhone and Android, since you talk about a MacBook Pro I need to ask you to give us more information about the behaviour. What do you mean exactly with "skipping and popping"? Would you mind describing this in more detail please?

Which Mac OS do you have installed?


Mac OS 10.13.6 High Sierra (latest update). Occasionally (usually every 2-3 songs) a cracking or popping noise happens, sometimes in the left speaker, sometime the right - it is electronic noise, similar to when you plug a speaker in while the amp is powered on. Skipping/stuttering - just like when a vinyl record skips, the playback is not continuous and smooth.

I have tried 3 different cables from chromecast to amp. Two different power cables to the Chromecast. I have unplugged any other sources of rf/wifi interference (Roku, etc). I have tried 2 different Chromecast Audios. I have tried 2 completely different systems in two different rooms, one location about 5 feet from the router.

Google Play Music works perfectly in all of the configurations. Deezer exhibits the same issues with every configuration. So I can confidently say it is a Deezer issue, not a HW issue.

I've been using Deezer for about a year now, after moving from Spotify.

The integration with Chromecast Audio is shocking and has always been. iOS, Android - it doesn't matter.

I've managed to live with the Deezer app 'falling behind' with what is playing on the speakers. Sometimes I've actually had to unplug the Chromecast as I can no longer control it with Deezer.

Random crackles in my music are the latest flaw.

Just sort it out.

Sorry to hear that. The good news is that we've already put months into getting a new Chromecast integration off the ground. This is because we're aware our current integration isn't as stable as our users deserve. But we're really excited for what's coming, so please bear with us if you can, we'd like you to give us your feedback once it's in place 👍🏼
Looks like this is another technical disaster, like the inability to support the Denon HEOS app with the HiFi option. Time to commit to Tidal I reckon!
I also have issues with Chromecast Audio and Deezer. (the endless "almost finished" message...)
There is no such problems with Spotify, Tidal, or Google Music, so I guess it must have something to do with the Deezer.
Can someone from dev department giv us update on this issue solving progress? If not - looks like you are doing nothing. Am I right? If this is a google problem (that could be possible somehow) why dont you tell us or propose any other alternative device that you could support?

Thank you for your support and for your patience. The last update we've got about this and the whole Chromecast experience is that we're rethinking the whole feature. I'll give you more details once I've got more concrete information about this. Thanks in advance.

Same problem! I have premium account + Chromecast audio connected with optical to a dac. When I streaming I can't see HQ icon, and I'm not sure that I streaming in HQ!

Another problem is that I can't see Alexa connection when I open the app

Rudi, I've just installed an update for Android version of Dezeer (6.1.21.66).

Could You tell me if it's a proper, fixed version for streaming music via Chromecast Audio?

Or should I wait patiently for your information about full compatibility between Chromecast and Dezeer?

And another one thing which irritate me comparing to other streaming apps - could you implement start/end time in notification window and dot/ball at progress bar showing moment of song, please?

I’m giving up - Chromecast support on Deezer is rubbish.

I’ve just trialed 3 other platforms as I’ve got tired of this issue and I’ve had no casting issues with any one them. Simple things like volume control whilst the app is lock or I’m in a different app, add play next etc all work perfectly on these other services. It a shame as I really liked Deezer but not being able to get the simple stuff write is driving me away.

I tried a free trial on Deezer hifi today, and the problems started immidiatly with dropouts when l cast through chromecast audio. And then l found this thread. Deezer I'm out.

I can use Deezer with Alexa, but I can command it only with voice and not from app
