@dee_dirk You mention Deezer taking into account the need for HiFi and HiRes quality above. Does that mean that Deezer will be increasing the quality of their output up to 24-bit/192khz from 16-bit/44.1Khz Flac?

@Zayn-T

No, please don't get me wrong. I think that enabling HiFi / HiRes on Apple Music gave a lot of people a taste of it. That's why I mentioned both in the same breath above.
I am not aware that deezer will soon be offering music in HiRes. Sorry if I put it a little ambiguously.

@dee_dirk The comms is awful and you are breaking a pledge made 5 months ago. I don't have a problem with a price rise, but the underhand methods have forced my hand.

"If we ever were to increase prices, we would give our users a three-month heads up to make sure that it doesn’t come as a surprise”.

I asked from Community when Spotify raised prices from 9,99 to 10,99.

Rudi said that in pandemic they will not.

Few months back in FI Spotify raised prices.

This year aftersummer Deezer mailed me that they will raise prices to 10,99 to include Hifi plan and to improve a product more. No improvements seen. Even if no savings, better product. I Spoty now.

So here you go. I had 7,49 annual monthly Premium, now even annual is around 99,90 a year.

8,32 mo and it was slight increase ?

It must be also INFLATION which makes prices go up.

I am not allowing Deezer price going up, even if I talk about inflation. It’s not just Hi-Fi add which makes prices grow. I live in FI where Deezer few months ago increased from 9,99 to 10,99. I canceled as well. Even if I had free offer 6 mo by community help. I get 10,99 Spotify in my country which is better.

Hi Fi sound I do not need. 320K OGG is just fine. Detailed sound .

I recommend to vote with your wallet.

Note that Deezer offer annual plan for slightly less monthly fee.

@dee_dirk If they are introducing new pricing models, why not be up front about it and allow the customer to choose what package is right for them - rather than imposing a £2 increase. Agreed that the market is changing rapidly and customers have choices; I’m sure Deezer will have lots of customers cancel their subscription based on this.

I was disappointed by the approach of the email.

It’s not acceptable to hide a price increase announcement at the bottom of several paragraphs of an email entitled “Your Deezer Family subscription is getting even better!”.

HiFi has no value to me as I can’t hear the difference in lossless encoding, so I will be moving elsewhere.

Posters are mentioning £2 and £3 here. Has the UK now been included in the new HiFi plan?

100% this thread. Sneaking a 20% price hike into the small print at the bottom of an email which is worded to appear as if your subscribers are simply being given an improved service is disingenuous at best.

Quite happy with my family subscription as it is, but a 20% price hike presented like this really makes me think I should be considering if there's other options out there…

Not impressed, Deezer, not impressed.

Hey all!

Deezer delivers the new subscriptions including HiFi. At the same time, the classic subscription 'Deezer HiFi' is disappearing.

Previous HiFi customers effectively experience a price reduction.

Previous premium customers get HiFi sound for a small surcharge.

Some users find it annoying that Premium will no longer be available without HiFi. But obviously the market wants it that way or a large part of the customers.

I can't imagine that Spotify prices will stay stable forever.

In the end, the customers decide how the streaming market will develop. :smirk:

Hello everyone!

Deezer is gradually switching to new subscription and price models.
This means that in the future there will be ‘Premium including HiFi’. Compared to the current subscription Deezer HiFi, it will then be cheaper.
The classic premium subscription will actually be a bit more expensive.

The market is changing rapidly. Fired by Apple Music and Amazon, it feels like all customers want to get at least HiFi/HiRes standard delivered. Deezer now takes this into account accordingly.

The next countries in which the subscriptions will be switched are Ireland and South Africa*.

If you do not agree with the new pricing models, you can of course switch to another provider. Unfortunately, there will never be 100% satisfaction. :expressionless:

*Edit: and UK

Just read a similar email. I'm on a family plan which is apparently going up by £3 per month! So it's gone from being one of the cheapest services to the most expensive.

Terribly worded email from Deezer with the price rise mentioned in the last paragraph.

I suspect there will be a lot of cancellations as a result of this. I'll be one of them.

Absolutely. Here is a quote from Deezer COO Laurence Miall d’Aout to journalists earlier this year: “We just wanted to let you know that Deezer isn’t going to raise prices in the middle of the pandemic. Music, podcasts and radio help people cope and we don’t feel this is the time to make things harder for them. If we ever were to increase prices, we would give our users a 3 month heads up to make sure that it doesn’t come as a surprise."

Hypocrites. And where is the 3 months’ notice that they promised?

Anyway, I’m cancelling my subscription and am off to an alternative provider.

Taking the p*ss comes to mind, greenrabbits.

Plenty of other music screaming apps to go to.....we live in a world where 'loyalty' doesn't pay ✌️😑 just a slight inconvenience, shame on you Deezer (and ur Hi-fi quality sound???)

Totally agree, Dave, No option to opt out.Onward and upward, My subscription will be cancelled.

Userlevel 2

Yes, I got that email too £2 extra a month for something that I don’t want or need or asked for. The option to have this facility should be optional and not an imposed charge! Disappointing, I’ve been using deezer for years but will consider moving on somewhere else!

Userlevel 1

It is completely unprofessional and just gives me a reason to leave Deezer and move to Spotify. What the hell are they thinking? I'm happy with the current sound quality and price. But we now have no option but to pay more? Unbelievable.

Totally agree with your post feeling the same wAy, used deezer for many years love the service but not a hidden price hike for something  that i dont need.  What i do need is the annual family subscription that we have all been asking for in this community over the last few years, don't fob us of any longer when will this happen?

Userlevel 2

Sneaking a price update message into the end of an email about new benefits which is phrased to sound like they're included in what I'm paying already is really disingenuous and leaves a bad taste.

I like Deezer a lot and would much prefer to be told straight you're increasing prices and explaining why. Don't treat your users like they're idiots or try to deceive them.
