Crappy support for Chromecast

I'm using Android phone and Chromecast Audio to stream music to my home stereo. Chromecast support in Deezer is crappy and unreliable.

Often the connection is a hit-and-miss, sometimes works and sometimes not, and often requires several tries to get the connection going. No error or anything, just spinning the progress circle with "Only a few seconds left". 

Also happens if I try to cast from Deezer web player to Chromecast. Lately I haven't been able to connect that at all. 

Needless to say it all works with Spotify and SoundCloud without any issues. 

And the Deezer desktop app would not open at all on M1 Macbook... 

I wish Deezer would work, but this is really annoying. If anyone from support reads this, I can send more details if that would help to solve these issues.

The problem with Chromecast is known, and our developers are actively working on a solution.
Unfortunately, we don't have an estimated timeframe for resolving this problem.
Nevertheless, I suggest you access this article on Chromecast.

so you’re indicating some troubleshooting steps for android that say “the answer can be as simple as turning your phone off and on again. It's also worth logging out and logging back in to your account because this can help solve the majority of connection problems.” and “If you're having difficulties with the Deezer app and this article doesn't solve your problem, the best place to get help is through the Deezer Community.”.

clearly, the support is crappy as this thread is saying if these are the only solutions that a community manager is providing.

how come we didn’t think about turning the phone off and on or logging out?!? silly little old me!

and even if this would work, do you really think someone would do this several times a day or even daily for an app?!? this is not a solution, this is just plain lazy and disregarding the paying customer which i’m not starting yesterday as i’ve cancelled my subscription under these circumstances. i’m not paying for this “premium service”. i wouldn’t use it even if it were free.

Is Chromecast working on the current Deezer beta?

Because I think a not working Chromecast while using Deezer is a BIG issue.

Many people do use their Chromecast and if they aren’t able to cast Deezer, what are they going to do? Wait of leave?

Chromecast support has been broken for years and years now, and they have been “working on it” for the same amount of years.

This is an issue from five(!) years ago, which is even marked as “not for now” because Deezer is incapable of fixing it.

I so wished I never joined Deezer. Now I’m stuck with this abomination of an app, which now even looks like purple crap.

I wanted to try Chromecast again and it worked! Both on my Android phone and also on the Deezer webplayer!

I don’t know how, but I love it!

I've had the same issue. Are you using an original Gen 1 or Gen 2 Google Chromecast dongle (one from before 2019 or so), Chromecast built into a receiver or a Chromecast Audio dongle? Deezer support for these broke with a Deezer update 2 or 3 years ago and was sort of fixed I think last spring, but has been hit or miss since then. I haven't tried casting to my older devices in awhile but the symptoms were the same and I have to wonder if support for them is broken again. My newer Google TV devices work fine.

Unfortunately, support wasn’t great even before that, but that was a disaster period. I have Gen 1.

@Leonídia.Deezer - I tried to replicate the Chromecast issues but I wasn’t able to. So perhaps things got fixed since I last checked it out. Great work!

@leo - Yes, I’ve tried those procedures a number of times. Uninstall, re-download, log out, log back in, etc. Bug is still there for Chromecasting.

I have - Deezer support for first generation Chromecast devices (including the casting hardware built into many AV receivers) is broken and I've given up on waiting on a fix. The solutions for Deezer users of first generation Chromecast hardware are replacing the hardware, switching streaming services or rolling back the Deezer app several years. At one point I posted on these forums which version, while slow, last worked. If I remember correctly it was from February or March of 2020.

I have 3 Google TV devices - 2 Google dongles and a 2022 model Sony TV running Google TV that do work. My 1st generation Chromecast dongle and my Chromecast Audio dongle do not work and have not worked since 2020 - the connection is attempted and times out after 1 minute. All other apps (Plex, Tidal, Apple Music, Qobuz, YouTube, etc...) cast to them as expected.

Yes, and once you can connect to you Chromecast you lose all your queue manipulating options from “Play next” to “Add to queue” or random play.

This makes the Chromecast experience utterly useless.

The only way to cast is to cast the full audio of your device instead, but that also causes all notifications to go to your stereo blasting on full.

Long story short: the Chromecast support in Deezer sucks.

Ehm, no. Not a chance. These problems have been around for years and years now, so they will probably remain here for way more years to come.

Have you seen the rebranding? That’s way more important (according to Deezer).

Ha, I know the +/- 1 month is wishful thinking by me.

The rebranding is indeed great: I wonder why this 'screaming' webdesign was chosen and I thought a purple heart has another meaning....

This!! I have had this problem with Chromecast for years using the App with my Pixel 6 (updated to latest Android).  Either it takes forever to connect with the spinny wheel “almost there”, or after 4 or 5 songs the App gets disconnected and loses control of the stream so I have to go in to the Google Home app to stop it.  So bad I’m going to try Spotify.

Yeah, stupid that it’s not working. I had beta installed, but it was still hit-and-miss to connect to Chromecast. I use Chromecast every day, many hours a day, and I’d prefer Deezer to Tidal or Spotify, but the crappy support for Chromecast is a deal breaker for me… Sad.

I haven’t been using my Google Nest for some time now (because I’ve bought a Sonos/Ikea speaker). But like you said @Iskanje crappy of no support for Chromecast could be also a dealbreaker for me.

In the past I took the Google Nest mini everywhere I went and this is now not usable.

 I suggest you access this article on Chromecast.

That article does not mention that you can’t manipulate your queue when casting. ‘Play next’ and ‘Add to queue’ are even removed from the interface to hist that inability.

 

If I would have known that before switching to Deezer, I would have never joined.

I wrote to customer support on this and their response was “We’re working on it” and just closed the ticket. 😠
