The song that impacted you the most -THE THREAD 🔉
I just cancelled my subscription and set one up with Spotify. With them there’s a single checkbox to confirm that you’re not a robot, when setting up the account, and that’s it! No more crosswalks or traffic lights! Bliss! Hope to be back with Deezer one day if it’s ever fixed.
Again I was logged out from the desktop client, and again the captcha came up. After almost three months, I’ve had enough now, going to switch to Spotify. Whoever is responsible for the terrible Deezer Desktop client has managed to lose a paying customer gain someone who when asked by family/friends what they think of deezer, will give them an honest review
I just downloaded the latest version - I still get a captcha popping up asking me to select all images with a fire hydrant. Like this
It’s not a technical issue, it’s a design flaw. The design flaw is that a captcha is presented. This is not necessary, I can’t think of any other desktop app that does this. I’m guessing there was some security problem at some point and some manager said ”OK let’s lock this down with a captcha”. It’s a bad choice as you are annoying your users massively, without actually increasing their security. A better choice would be to 1) enforce more secure passwords for users (or use 2FA), and 2) monitor and block repeated false logins in some other way (eg see the tool fail2ban). The only way to fix this is to remove the captcha. If you put your security problems onto your users, they will not be your users for much longer...
Same for me, it’s unacceptable as a user to have to identify all the squares containing sidewalks 7 times a week. There are other, less intrusive captcha options if this indeed is required. I’ve switched to the web app but would like to switch back to the desktop app when this issue is resolved.
I’ve uninstalled the desktop application and am just using the web app, it’s ridiculous to have to do this almost every day.
