Deezer is among the very last Electron app to not have made the switch. Before it, the following ElectronJS apps succeeded to change one line of configuration and build on arm64 on my laptop :)Microsoft Teams Skype GeoGebra Classic 6 Discord Visual Studio Code Windows 95 (the application) Mattermost StarUML VMWare Fusion Redis Insight V2 Docker Desktop GeoGebra Graphing Calculator Hyper GitHub Desktop Insomnia Adobe UXP Developer Tool GitKraken Molotov TV Trello Diagrams.net AdGuard for Safari Slack Bootstrap Studio MongoDB CompassIt’s about time! The only ElectronJS apps that did not make the switch are: Deezer (why?) Moodle Desktop (Abandoned, uses Moodle Mobile instead) Unity Hub (Unity itself is Apple Silicon ready) Neo4j Desktop (the Neo4j Browser is Apple Silicon ready) PIA (their latest update was released before Apple Silicon, and the upcoming release will be compatible) GravitDesigner (abandoned) DS Update (I guess car manufacturers are not experts with software)and that’s it.
Multiple months later, but for the discussion about performance not likely to improve, these are false statements. Performance using Electron will very much improve after Deezer has changed a single configuration line in their package.json file, namely to change the arch value from “x64” to “universal”. It won’t be as good as a native app, but it will at least be decent. The last paragraph of the official Electron documentation explains why: https://www.electronjs.org/blog/apple-silicon
Adding to the list, they still do not ship an Apple Silicon version of this app for Macs. In one post here, one of the CM of Deezer said almost 1 year ago that they were working on a “new desktop app”. I’m guessing it’s this one, but it still does not support the Macs released after 2020 at decent speeds.
I kind of like the design, not the logo though. They absolutely have to bring back the “shuffle my music” option on their mobile apps, the latest update killed it.
Yes @dee_dirk, that would be great! All I can tell you at the moment, something will happen soon, but we don’t have any date yet. 😐 Any updates, I let you know guys! 👌🏼 Take care.🙂 Just upgraded to version 6.0.10 (fully rebranded Deezer Desktop), and I find it quite outrageous that it is still not a Universal or arm64 binary.
