It's April 26th, and after many years of silence, here comes the new hit from Justice: Hyperdrama, their 4th studio album.
I have rarely been so excited about a new release. 😍 🤟 ❤️🔥
Justice (proper spelling: Jus†ice) is a French electronica duo consisting of the two DJs Gaspard Augé and Xavier de Rosnay. It has the same manager as Daft Punk and is the most successful band on the Ed Banger Records label. Their logo is a Latin cross (†), which lights up the room as a large, luminous installation at the band's concerts.
“Spring, when the nice weather comes, fits the spirit of this record”, say the two heads of Justice.
Four songs have already been released before the album release.
The performance at Coachella 2024 further fuelled the hype around “Hyperdrama“. An incomparable atmosphere and a real treat for the ears. As I write these lines, I am listening to the performance (Hardcore fans know how to get this material. 🤟) again and am getting goosebumps one after the other.
With the opener "Neverender", the band, together with Tame Impala ("The Less I Know the Better"), treads paths reminiscent of the club-friendly funk of Daft Punk.
The atmosphere on the record changes from driving metal in tracks like the droning, dirty "Generator", which is certainly most reminiscent of "Cross", to the light jazz in "Moonlight Rendez-Vous" and the chopped up space sound in the futuristic "Explorer". Sometimes there is polished house, vintage Italo disco and up-to-date pop, sometimes light R&B or dramatic techno - and always in an electronic guise.
The Australian psychedelic indie star Kevin Parker, who is behind the project, is present at the fantastically chilled rave of the pre-release single "One Night/All Night". In any case, unlike its predecessor album "Woman", a handful of guests are involved in "Hyperdrama" - and they all leave their mark stylistically.
On "Hyperdrama" the two-time Grammy winners once again succeed in creating music for the future from retro elements. If you like electronica music, you won't be disappointed.
Spring, musically speaking, is assured.
HYPERDRAMA, I love you 💜
