I’ve had Deezer Premium installed on my up-to-date Android phone for years, with 300+ MP3s added and several playlists of about 100-400 songs each downloaded for offline play. This always worked fine.

I recently added extra MicroSD storage to the device. The Deezer app indicated that switching from internal storage to SD would delete downloaded files. Fair enough, accepted.

Now multiple user-added MP3s fail to play (Error: MS0674), or they play audio from another MP3 file and subsequently stop due to song length mismatches between the files. The incorrect song playing can be temporarily remedied by clearing Deezer's cache in the app and clearing the stored data and cache for Deezer in Android settings. But error MS0674 remains, often affecting different MP3s. And the incorrect MP3 playing issue eventually returns too. The MP3s work correctly on Deezer’s website on desktop web browsers.

Additionally, when downloading playlists many regular (not user-added MP3) songs will now no longer download. Even when removing the playlist from downloads and reattempting, the same songs will fail to download. Any MP3s in the playlist affected by Error MS0674 will also cause the playlist to stop downloading when it reaches those songs. Even if playlists manage to fully download, adding new songs to them will not download those new songs.

I have already tried the following steps:

  • Checking for updates to the Deezer app
  • Clearing all downloaded data through ‘Data and Storage’ > ‘Clear All’ in the Deezer app
  • Force closing and restarting the Deezer app
  • Clearing Deezer's stored data and cache through Android's app settings
  • Moving the Deezer app from internal to SD storage
  • Uninstalling and reinstalling Deezer to internal and SD storage
  • Waiting for MP3s to magically download correctly by leaving the Deezer app open in the foreground for up to an hour against better judgment
  • Adding songs from affected playlists to new playlists and then attempting to download the new playlists. The same issues still occur, with the same songs affected
  • Removing playlists from downloads and reattempting to download them many times to no avail

It's always something with Deezer. Simple top requested features not being implemented for years. Flow always being wonky. Playlists and files getting corrupted. The incorrect audio quality being downloaded. Deezer randomly opening and playing the most recent song even when it's not active and the phone is idle. Incorrect lyrics. Incorrect songs being played in search. Playback issues with the app or browser version. MP3s and downloads not working correctly (including the old MS3000 error). At some point I'm done and will switch to Spotify.

I've been here long enough to know a community manager will go ‘we'll pass it along to our team/we're aware of the issue and are working on it, but no update as of yet'. I've seen that copy-paste reply on issues that have been present for years, so mostly that's just the standard script to pacify users.

Could you maybe, just MAYBE get this app in order for once? People are paying for this.

Hi @Tomatough! Thanks for sharing all that info about the issues you’re having with Deezer.

I completely understand how tough this must be, especially after putting in so much effort with your playlists and music.

Just so you know, our developers are aware of these problems and are working on them.

I don’t have any updates at the moment because it needs a bit more technical digging.

It's super important for us to know how this affects your experience.

Thank you so much for sharing your experience!
