Hi Deezer,I read that Deezer is implementing a new royalty payment system for artists with UMG. Initially, I was really supportive of Deezer’s groundbreaking approach with UCPS. It helps to reduce the stream dilution in the current system and people gaming the system with fake streams. But the thing is… the newly announced royalty system ain’t it,. I’m happy to know that Deezer is recognizes that the current one is flawed as white noise cannot be paid on the same rate as a real studio quality original composition and production. The level of knowledge, artistry, creativity, hard work, talent to work on every single word and every single second in the lyrics and instrument production is not on par with white noise. I’m happy to know that this issue is being addressed and real artists can be paid more fairly. The other thing is the doubling of royalty rate for established artists with 1000 streams and 500 monthly listeners is really unnecessary and appalling. By doing this, we’re taking
I realised that the Deezer app recommends major label artists and popular acts most of the time on mood channels, playlists, flow and home page. As an independent artist, I realise there’s literally no way for people to get to find my music unless they search for my artist name or song name. Even if they search by song name, my song will be placed at the end of the search results. I guess the algorithm prioritises popular/mainstream artists? As Deezer is always advocating for fair pay to artists by UCPS and equality for all artists regardless of their current progress in their careers, I think something has to be done to give the independent artists exposure they need. I have some suggestions… Add a platform for artists to pitch their songs to curators so they can be promoted on more playlists. Add a flow feature purely for rising artists for users to discover non-mainstream and experimental tracks. ( Tbh, the popular tracks are so anodyne and plain boring and we need some cool and exp
As we know , Deezer is implementing a track monetization limit of 1000 tracks per user and I applaud this move coz we can't have unlimited music streaming and diluting the royalty pool. Is there like a better way for us to track our music consumption habits ? Maybe set a 1000 track limit warning notification or a daily track limit ?
I don’t know why but the changing colour in the song progress Bar is really annoying to me. Why can’t we standardise the color? Why can’t we just stick to white color? An orange background with a purple progress bar? I just want a simple monochrome , minimalistic black and white player.
