The song that impacted you the most -THE THREAD 🔉
..Gapless has been worked on by a lot of people on our side, for example. So it'll be a reality soon...
I let my subscription drop too, the lack of gapless really is a deal-breaker for me. I'll keep an eye on this thread in case gapless really does get shipped soon. To be positive about it all, I quite liked Deezer on Android. The app is quite stable, and there is a fairly good range of music (omitting random albums is frankly annoying from a subscriber viewpoint, but the coverage isn't too bad overall). Get gapless working and it could be a winner for me.
I was wondering (Rudi ) why its so difficult to deliver gapless playback. From a strictly engineering viewpoint, its reasonably trivial. Maybe the obvious methods have been patented (this is no bar to a patent!), or the track database has been constructed in a fashion that makes it awkward. Its conceivable that gapless itself is easy, but reformatting so many tracks is an intractable problem. To play devils advocate for a moment, how valuable is gapless? For me (in UK), a gapless service costs £10pm. I play a lot of material that sounds worse without it, but for the most part it doesn't sound awful. Different people will have different views, but there will generally be a price point where a big enough discount would make it worth living without it. Would it be bearable for £5 pm instead?
Voted for this too - its a red-line issue for me, a lot of the music I listen too is spoiled if not played gapless. A bit of a shame, as its a decent streaming service otherwise. A thumbs up to Deezer for offering a trial period though, I'd hate to have subscribed and then discovered the problem.
