In other words, Flow should not be influenced by a song just because it was played.
Reviving this thread. The changes to Flow in 2022/2023 were broadly good, but I have a problem with one of the ‘improvements’.It was decided that Flow would make its recommendations based on music that you have ‘liked’ but also music that you have played. Previously, Flow was based on music that you ‘liked’ only. Now, my Flow is flooded with music that I have played (e.g. at the request of my wife, or instrumental music that I listen to when I’m working) but not actually ‘liked’. I know I can change the ‘mood’ of my Flow, but this still makes its recommendations based on music I don’t actually want to listen to.Is there any way this could be fixed? Or, at least, implement an option that the user can enable/disable. e.g. “Restrict Flow recommendations to Liked music only. Yes/No”
The following idea has been merged into this idea: All the votes have been transferred into this idea. This doesn’t seem like the same thing. It’s an entirely separate function.
It is the single most complained-about feature of Flow, and as a relatively new user I have seen many people complain about it here on this forum in many different threads. Yup, it’s embarrassing. I’ve been here for 3 years, but the problem has existed for longer than that - at least 4 years. I just don’t understand how this hasn’t been resolved yet. I have a coding background and I’m sure the repeating songs issue could be fixed with just a few lines of code.I was part of the Flow 2.0 testing period and it was much better, although the solution they implemented was to simply not let a song play if had last played within the last 30 days. Seems a bit too arbitrary for me, but at least it worked. They also implemented some other changes that I wasn’t so keen on, but the end of repeating songs was a major improvement for me. It’s a real shame that they couldn’t deploy Flow 2.0.
No we won’t roll out Flow 2.0 the way it was tested, but your feedback was used to create all new improvements on your Flow... Thanks, so is there any update on the improved Flow? Listening to Flow on my Android is often a painful experience. Interestingly, I have a new feature on my desktop app and this seems to be working well (few repetitions).
Hey there @maxkshaw, it does not seem to be an issue that a big amount of users are experiencing. Have you tried our track mixes or excluding wonderwall? Hi Yula, has Flow 2.0 been rolled out to Android users or not? I was part of the 2.0 trial, so I would expect to be informed when the feature goes live.
Hi @Yula, is there any update on this? I’ve just listened to f***ing Wonderwall 5 times in 3 days.
I’m glad this is finally being recognised. It’s crazy that the devs haven’t done anything about it yet. Perhaps they don’t personally use Deezer for their music needs?
This problem is corrected by two lines of code. Exactly. It would be so simple to fix...
Hi @Jaime. Yes, please contact the dev team. This problem has been going for as long as I’ve been using Deezer (since early 2020). This problem has been raised multiple times by various members of this community.Frankly, I can’t believe it hasn’t been fixed already. It’s embarrassing.
Hey @Rudi , is there any update on this? It's crazy that this is still a problem. It should be really easy to fix. One, maybe two, lines of code.
Thanks @Rudi. To add to my idea, I think it would be good to add customisation options for your Flow, for example:“No Repeat” period: 1 day 1 week 1 month (songs that were last played during this period will not show in this Flow) “Favourited” ratio: 5 (the ratio of Favourited songs to non-Favourited songs played in the Flow, e.g. every 5th song is one that I’ve already Favourited. 4/5 songs are “new”) These options could be put under the Preferences section of the Settings menu. Maybe create a new item called Flow.
I’ve been using Deezer for just over a year now, and the Flow algorithm has been consistently terrible. It’s not bad at finding other music that I might like, but it keeps repeating the same songs over and over again, whether they are my favourites or not.I have an idea to fix this. I think it would be relatively simple to implement but would have a hugely positive impact. Every track played should have a “Last Played” property. When Flow is looking for the next song to play, if the song’s “Last Played” date is within the last week (or whatever time period) then Flow re-rolls and randomly selects another song. This would help to keep the Flow fresh.
