With this, drivers and passengers can now enjoy the convenience of accessing and listening to their favourite music directly from DEEZER within their vehicles, enhancing the overall driving experience.

Automotive OS is Google’s operating system that allows you to download the Deezer app directly to your car, creating a complete ecosystem within it! You will be able to listen to your favourites, albums, artists and flow. You can even favourite songs that you enjoy when listening to Flow!

Yes, users with a Family account will be able to use the app. However, the ability to change profiles inside the app will not be available.

For more information about switching accounts and creating independent accounts, visit here.

Will Automotive OS be available with every car manufacturer?

Not every car will have Deezer available. This is due to each manufacturer choosing whether to have the Google Play Store or another third-party app store installed with Automotive OS.

Only for the login. If you want to enrich your automotive experience, you should use either the mobile app or the website.

Are podcasts and radio available on Deezer Automotive OS?

Podcasts and radio stations are not available on Automotive OS for now!

Can I view the lyrics?

No. Anything which could distract the driver of the vehicle is seen as a hazard. Therefore, anything that involves displaying lyrics or playing games inside the car is forbidden.

Can I use FLOW on Automotive OS?

Yes! If you encounter any issues, please look at these tips on how to improve your Flow Tip: Get the most out of FLOW.

Is there another way to log in to the Automotive app other than a QR code?

Using a QR code is the only method currently available to log in.

What is the difference between Automotive OS and Android Auto?

Android Auto is Google’s phone-to-dash technology, which takes your phone and displays it on your car’s display. However, Automotive OS is its operating system, meaning your phone is not connected to the display and the Deezer Automotive OS app will exist separately from the mobile counterpart.

How to log in with the sub-profiles of the family plan?

There is no ability to switch between profiles after login in the car app. To change the profile on a DEEZER Family account, the user will need to log on to the correct profile on his phone and then scan the QR code.

What do you think about this new feature?

Nice work!!!

I’m pleased that deezer took the time to release a quality version of the app for AAOS. By their nature, the AAOS apps have not been as full-featured as the standard apps, but deezer has included a search function, Flow, and access to my favorites, including playlists (not all AAOS music apps do).

I’ve been using the AAOS app for a couple weeks now and I have been quite happy. Graphics are excellent and load seamlessly, the feature set is more than adequate, it functions well (something not to be assumed or overlooked), and sound quality is excellent, even though it's a compressed stream.

Chapeau!

I'm happy that the app is available for my car but at the same time I'm disappointed that users on the Free tier are not able to use it at all.

Please open the app usage for these users as well, thank you!

while i understand your point, if there aren’t features exclusive to the premium tier, what incentive is there for folks to pay for the service?

i’ve used deezer free in the past, but i find the increased audio quality, no ads, no mandatory shuffling, unlimited skips, downloads, now aaos, and all the other premium benefits to be more than worthwhile.

For everyone who like listen music in car, this Deezer's new Automotive app looks really good !

I’m using Deezer with Car Play at this moment. My car doesn’t have Google, but it is nice to know that this is possible.

I recently discovered the Deezer app on Android Automotive OS and I think it’s great to finally have this so I can cancel my Spotify subscription (which I took because I couldn’t get Deezer yet).

But I’m having trouble when playing a playlist that also contains some mp3’s that I uploaded myself into my account. All these uploaded mp3’s sound distorted.

I’ve also had this before on the mobile app, but in the Deezer mobile app you have this “repair” option when an uploaded mp3 got corrupted, and after running that, it sounds ok again. The Android Automotive OS version of Deezer unfortunately does not have a similar option.

So could you please look into this issue of corrupted uploaded mp3’s on the AAOS version?

Hi @R2V ,thanks for your message.
I have shared your case with our developers and I'm waiting for an answer.
As soon I have any information I will let you know.

I bet even this has gapless playback while the desktop app still does not lol

Hello @R2V, I received feedback from our developers, and they mentioned that playing MP3s on the Deezer app on Android Automotive OS (correction - Android Auto) is not supported and is not planned for the future.

Hi @Leonídia.Deezer

I do think you are making a mistake here. The AAOS version is little more than a beta test version in its current form. It really requires you to allign it with your other software.

For example, when I search something, I get three results for song, three results for album, and three results for playlist, and that’s it. There is no option to ‘expand a category’ and see all search results for song or so. If whatone is looking for is not ranked in the top 3, then bad luck.

In general, it’s extemely disappointing how you don’t seem to succeed in having all the same features working everywhere. Gapless works on web platform but not on the desktop app, mp3-playback works on web and app but not on AAOS, etc…

You are already months if not years behind in developing something for AAOS, could you please make it a priority to have this functioning properly? And do streamline all features on all platforms, so that everyone gets the same seamless experience all the time. It’s extremely frustrating for your loyal customers who haven’t fled to Spotify yet.

Hello @R2V I have already corrected my post above. What I wanted to mention was the Android Auto.

When I asked our team regarding Automotive OS app, I got a “question mark”… so maybe. It is currently being studied. As you know the stand alone app is giving the first steps yet and there is work to do, feature that potential can be added in the future.

Also when I raised this question of the Offline mode, I asked about the Carplay and the reply was the same as for the Android Auto. Nevertheless in Carplay you have a section “Download music”.

Great feature when it works…

i can switch to HiFi res in the settings but I have to switch in between songs manually. The song stops 2 sec before the end and that s it. No automatic transition to the next one.
even if the internet area is full blast

pity.

Thats what im talking about hopefully my Dad receives the new system, flow to be waiting for.

AAOS

I am missing the shuffle function when playing a playlist. I also missing the possibility to play my own mp3. Therefore i concider change to spotify. I have been satisfied with Deezer so far.

good luck with that

I’m happy to be able to use Deezer on my Volvo EX30, which has AAOS.

However, there are two quite annoying bugs that I have discovered so far:

  1. When starting the car, music playback is stopped (this might be a car-software related thing). But nothing happens when I press the play button on the home screen. I have to open up the Deezer app and start the playback from there. Other apps just resume playing, without the need to open them.
  2. The Deezer app does not remember the shuffle setting in my playlist. I have to re-enable shuffle mode each time I drive the car.

hey @nichu42

I think you’ll find that the AAOS apps (all of them, not just the music apps) are somewhat unique in that they need to be tailored for their application, running in a car with a (somewhat) limited processor and data speeds.

The deezer app (for me) seems to have been designed to run light and fast, and I find that I don’t have any issues with it bogging down or with the music buffering, so I’m willing to trade a few “features” for that. I also feel like it is still in its infancy and look forward to the updates.

That said, I find the occasional reset of the infotainment system smooths out many app functions, I would suggest that.

By contrast, the Tidal and Amazon Music apps were both ponderously slow and constantly buffering and pausing my music. Spotify has been fraught with issues and complaints (I linked one of many Reddit complaint threads above) and Apple Music does not even offer an app. I will concede that the YouTube Music app is quite well done and comparable with deezer, but I suppose that should be expected, given that Google is the parent company of both.

Congrats on your new Volvo EV and enjoy your music!
