My Deezer Year 2023: Meet the Deezer Oracle

My Deezer Year 2023: Meet the Deezer Oracle

Meet the Deezer Oracle, your tarot card reader who reveals what your musical data says about you. This year, Deezer is taking you on a mystical journey with your music and 15 unique tarot cards and discovering your tarot combination.

You’ll receive three tarot cards that symbolise your style of streaming. And if you’re very lucky, you may receive up to four extra, rare tarot cards.

So, why three tarot cards?

This year, My Deezer Year explores three big parts of how you stream. The songs and genres you listen to, the artists you discovered and loved, and, for the first time, a prediction about your musical future.

How did we choose them?

By exploring Tarot cards and understanding their meaning, we were able to highlight a few Tarot cards that represented the data we wanted to highlight. The cards chosen for each section are:

Genres: The Sun, The Empress, The Chariot, and Judgement

Artists: The Hermit, Temperance, and the World

Future: The High Priestess, The Wheel of Fortune, The Fool, and Strength

Rare cards: The Hanged-Man, The Moon, The Star, The Lovers

But what does this mean? And how does it relate to my music? 1️⃣ 2️⃣ 0️⃣

Don’t worry; we’re getting to that. Below is an index of 15 tarot cards that will uncover their meaning and how we associated your musical data with the cards.

💜 Your top genre 💜

The Sun - Users who received this card listened to the genres: Latin music, dance & EDM, house, electronic, or techno genres. With The Sun card representing optimism, energy, and enthusiasm, it fits perfectly with these genres that bring that big party energy.

The Empress – Users who received this card listened to the genres: pop, R&B, folk, soul music, and gospel. With The Sun card representing new opportunities, abundance, and creativity, we thought it was a perfect fit for these genres, commonly ruled by talented women.

The Chariot - Users who received this card listened to the genres: rap, Afrobeats, Brazilian funk, reggaeton, and Samba Pagode. With The Chariot card representing triumph, progress, and resolving conflict, we thought it was a perfect fit for these genres that are built on through personal storytelling and good beats.

Judgement - Users who received this card listened to the genres: rock, alternative, reggae, metal, and jazz. With the Judgement card representing transformation, redemption, and awakening, we thought it was a perfect fit for these genres, which rely on the song's ability to move you through its musical instruments.

💜 Your artist discovery 💜

The Hermit – Users who got The Hermit card are devoted to a select few artists and are not huge explorers when it comes to their music. They know what they like, and they’re sticking to that!

Temperance – Users who got the Temperance card are a mix of the other two tarot cards. They love the artists they already listen to but aren’t afraid to get out there and discover new hits.

The World – Users who got The World are huge musical explorers, constantly switching up the genre, style, and artist and always finding new tracks that fit their unique tastes.

💜 Your mood for 2024 💜

The High Priestess – Users who got this card primarily listen to music in Chill and Focus moods. We’re predicting The High Priestess for your 2024 mood because it represents information, human wisdom, and finding tranquility in your inner world.

The Wheel of Fortune – Users who got this card primarily listen to music in Melancholy and You & Me moods. We’re predicting The Wheel of Fortune for your 2024 mood because it represents chance, destiny, and opportunity.

The Fool – Users who got this card primarily listen to music in the Party mood. We’re predicting The Fool for your 2024 mood because it represents originality, childlike wonder, and a tiny bit of risk.

Strength – Users who got this card primarily listen to music in the Motivation mood. We’re predicting Strength for your 2024 mood because it represents self-confidence, inner power, and self-control.

💜 Rare Cards 💜

The Hanged Man – Users received this rare card if they listened to one song on replay all the time. The Hanged Man card is associated with stagnation and the feeling of surrender you might get when you find that one song that hits just right.

The Moon - Users received this rare card if they listened to a song before a majority of other listeners. The Moon card is associated with intuition, something you must have had to find a song before anyone else!

The Star - Users received this rare card if they were a superfan of an artist. The Star card is associated with inspiration and hope. Any user who gets superfan status is truly devoted to their top artist.

The Lovers - Users received this rare card if their music tastes matched with someone they follow on Deezer. The Lovers card is associated with partnerships. Whatever kind of bond they have, it’s clear these two's music taste is a match.

Which tarot cards did you receive from the Deezer oracle?

Wow, this really was completely pointless.

What I’d actually want instead of this amusing nonsense you obviously put a lot of effort into is a longer list of what tracks I listened to and how many times, not just the top 5 (4 of which are from the same album, which came out in January so obviously I had the most time to listen to that). Also, it’s still November, I really wish you didn’t ignore an entire month when compiling the year end summary. No, Last Christmas will not be the only song I listen to in December.

I really love you Deezer, and I think your biggest shortcoming is not showing me enough data about my own listening habits. It’s pretty shady that you obviously have all that data, you even boast how much you think you can guess about my personality on the basis of this data, but I have no access to it. I don’t need a fancy fake Instagram story-esque presentation, just a simple listen count counter next to the songs would be much appreciated.

I remember a couple of years ago my year end whatever consisted of 10 artists, why on Earth did that get narrowed down instead of expanded? You really are giving me the opposite of what I’d like to know and frankly, what I think I have the right to know.

The great graphics and original concept just make it even more infuriating how you’re hiding my data and giving me fluff instead. It’s brilliantly done fluff, but it’s not what I wanted. If this contained some actual information, I’d be in heaven right now. Like this, it’s a huge let down.

Is offline listening time counted in the statistics?

I would love a a longer list of what tracks I listened to and how many times,  I want to know my most played songs.

You also get a playlist of your Top 50 Tracks 2023 which is sorted by plays (not showing their numbers though) besides Discoveries for 2024 and playlists for 2022 and 2021:

My Tarot cards are:

Genres: The Empress
Artists: The World
Future: The Wheel of Fortune
Rare cards: The Moon

It seems to me that most of the people in this community are as annoying as possible to everyone around them, even if Deezer makes a list of 1500 songs that you listen to, there will be those who complain that the mobile app did not bake them Christmas cookies according to their grandmother's recipe.  And he will definitely threaten to switch to Tidal at the end of the message.

My cards are:

Genres: Judgement
Artists: The World
Future: The Fool
Rare cards: The Moon, The Lovers

@ArtemUa I’ve asked our devs and they confirmed that offline also counts.

Interestingly, I only have 206 hours

This doesn’t work for profiles on family accounts, it just defaults to the main user

Any way we can see stats for each profile like we previously could?

Like it!

These are my cards:

I really like this “My Deezer year 2023” 😀

Hi @Rubbington,  I'm sorry to hear that the profiles in your family account are having trouble viewing their own MDY.

Could you please confirm whether the profiles in your Family account are dependent or independent?

I have a Family account with dependent profiles, and each of them can check out their own stats for their MDY.

Could you please check if each profile has streamed at least 200 times between January 1st and November 21th.

If possible, could you send me screenshots of the TOP track 2023 for each profile?

Worked for the users on my subscription . It might be for some I guess .

Honestly I really enjoyed the experience , Mainly the vibrant colors , 2024 discovery playlist and the collage in the end . Great stuff . Share yours too !

my boyfriend uses Deezer and his account is connected to Facebook, I told him to see his perspective and I wouldn’t say I liked the card The Lovers, I thought it was a dumb idea to show connection with a random girl who he had on his Facebook, so stupid.

I also want to add that I really like my personal MyDeezer 2023 Music Quizz.

Hi,

I pretty much got the wrong My Deezer Year and I realized what the issue was. In October, about a month ago I reset my deezer data on my android because my playlists were playing in the opposite direction (from oldest to newest instead the other way around).

Anyway, I think that messed up my deezer year. Is there any way to get the true My Deezer Year? My deezer year only contains the songs I listened to for the past month and everything else is deleted I guess?

Any help? It's really disappointing, because none of my friends on spotify had the same issue.

I like to party

also love  quizzes

This was a fun feature, but it didn’t seem to have much to do with my actual listening history. 4 of 5 of my top artists were acts I never heard of. My top artist was Kylie Minogue, a name I have at least heard… but I could not name a single song. That’s just not my kind of music.

There is no way that the roundup I saw was derived from my listening stats alone.

I am the admin of a family account (independent accounts) so maybe there’s a bug with that setup?

Does it count music played on browser? I checked my summary and I’m afraid that only plays from app were counted. My summary even said that it’s been a while since my last listening, while in reality I’m using Deezer everyday at work. Hopefully it will be fixed next year.

I do have an issue with MDY. Being told I haven't streamed enough to have enough data for it.

So I wondered if offline listens count. Then someone said they do. 'Cause I usually download playlists then listen through them and sort out what I like and not.

I do most of my listening in offline mode and rarely stream directly.

Is that the problem?

I've been using this app for 2 years now and I didn't have any problems last year but this year my Deezer wrapped doesn't work and I can't see anything that I streamed in this year? I've been streaming songs in this app offline can somebody help me how to fix this? someone in the community said to update the app and I did and it still didn't work.

From my experience, offline listens counts

Hello my list is inaccurate,

I know this as an artist I have listened to a ton has as many hours as my top 1 and does not appear on it.

Also, besides the mosaic which ofers no concrete data, there is no way to recap the info given in the recap

For some reason, the numbers of my favorite genre changed that night 🤔
