The Halloween franchise

Of course- our list wouldn’t be complete without the legendary “Halloween” Movies.

The story started on a cold Halloween night in 1963 when six year old Michael Myers brutally murdered his 17-year-old sister, Judith. He was sentenced and locked away for 15 years. But on October 30, 1978, while being transferred for a court date, a now 21-year-old Michael Myers steals a car and escapes Smith's Grove. He returns to his quiet hometown of Haddonfield, Illinois, where he looks for his next victims.

The Halloween Franchise consists of thirteen films by now, the latest being Halloween Ends (2022)

Newspaper reporter Rachel Keller is sceptical of the story until a few teenagers, including her niece, all die mysteriously exactly one week after watching just the tape. Allowing her investigative curiosity to get the better of her, Rachel tracks down the video and watches it. Now she has just seven days to unravel the mystery.

There are two sequels to the movie: The Ring 2 (2005) and a more recent one Rings (2017)

SERIES

American Horror Story

Currently on its 12th season, American Horror Story tells a different story each season (with an amazing intro each time too), focusing on everything from a paranormal documentary gone wrong, to a haunted hotel to a coven of witches. While each season has a mostly self-contained arc, they all take place within the same fictional universe, with some crossover elements occurring. Many actors appear in multiple seasons, usually portraying a new character each time. There were also quite a few famous guest appearances over the years like Lady Gaga and most recently Kim K.

The Haunting of Hill House (2018), The Haunting of Bly Manor (2020)

The Horror Genre belongs to Mike Flanagan! The Haunting of Hill House and The Haunting of Bly Manor are just two examples of his impressive collection of films and TV shows. Both shows focus on two different houses which are haunted by ghosts of their past.

More Mike Flanagan films/movies for Halloween:

Midnight Mass (2021) Hush (2016), The Midnight Club (2022) and now NEW: The Fall of the House of Usher (2023) Trailer 👈

A lot of his work also features the same actors, similar to “American Horror Story”.
