This topic will be an Overview of  Deezer Rooftop Sessions in order of events ,

with a short article about the artist and a Deezer link to their music.

The first Deezer Rooftop Sessions was held on May 24, 2022

and the guest performer was Darius

Darius

Describing Darius’ music is like trying to gather the infinitely large and the infinitely small or thinking music can be as hedonist as introspective. For almost ten years, the very discreet producer feeds us his dreamy music, filled with cosmic images. An intense universe revealed through his frenetic live sets and our imagination when we close our eyes, but also through meticulous visuals, photography and graphic design.

Darius cultivates his inspirations since his debut in 2012, same year when he meets Cézaire, founder of Roche Musique, who didn’t think twice about offering him to be part of the Label. Inspired by filtered house music from the French Touch era, Darius takes nonetheless a different path than his elders. At a time when everyone would still sample, he chose to bring together spatial territories and immersed symbolic, through melodies that make you want to dance as much as dream, like his first EP Romance, released on Roche Musique in 2014.

This EP gathers everything that characterize Darius as a unique producer: echoing chords, breaks that infinitely spread out and chorus that stick in your mind. That’s how ‘Hot Hands’ and ‘Espoir’ transcended borders, allowing Darius to travel and play live throughout the world, inspiring himself with new cultures and encounters. Some countries became a second home for Darius as his international audience keeps growing with the millions of plays that accumulates, especially in the USA (5M), Canada (1M), Russia (1M), Japan (1M), South Korea (1M) and Mexico (1M). Overall, today, about half a million people listen to his music every month, on all streaming platforms, numbers that would make Darius’ head spin.

With this first project, Darius becomes more meticulous and plays with hypnotic textures when he presents his debut album Utopia in 2017. Beyond uptempo and club songs, Darius unfolds a precise and millimetric narrative, flirting somewhere between sound design and a sci-fi movie trailer music. On this occasion, he speaks up through a movie illustrating the album’s genesis.

Whether it’s through his own productions or remixes, (alongside those for The Magician, Dua Lipa, Lianne La Havas or Jessie Ware...), Darius always shares a dreamy vision through his music, based on symbolism and mental landscapes that he wishes to pass on.

Let us all be guided and surprised by his utopian and ever-growing universe.

Darius debuts his return in 2020 with a new single titled ‘EQUILIBRIUM’ in collaboration with Wayne Snow, alongside a music video brilliantly directed by the talented Alice Kong.

This brand-new single will turn out to be an almost secrete announce for a new upcoming project from the artist, with singles featuring :

Benny Sings ‘RISE   https://deezer.page.link/bfQARBn5ySqkmw3n7

Duñe ‘FEELS RIGHT’  https://deezer.page.link/AYaK2j3evvHzARFA9

Amaria ‘FADED’  https://deezer.page.link/obVgE4TmqaWSVu3V6

and Flwr Chyld ‘CAN’T LET GO’   https://deezer.page.link/QiPFqLKZT2EQ1HPJ9

Thus, in mid-April 2022, Darius released his new album, OASIS, presenting once again his musical mute, conductor of a new genre filled with groove and soul, while retaining the electronic touch and dreamy melodies specific to his universe. The album is followed by the OASIS Tour, an international tour (UK, Mexico, Canada, USA) as summer approaches, a way to reconnect with the sunny energy of the producer who has no heart but to show the public this new facet of his artistic talent.

Deezer Rooftop Sessions Myd

September 29, 2022.

Myd

Myd certainly is a surprising character. That’s because he knows how to do to a lot of different things. With his years of experience, over time he’s captured the art of making you dance in many different ways. For example, he earned his stripes and enjoyed his first taste of international success as part of the band Club Cheval.

Next he got us dancing with his producing skills for SCH, Theophilus London and Georgio. But even more so since he joined Pedro Winter’s clan at Ed Banger, who spotted his talent and made his skills shine.

In the space of a few EPs and several shows, Myd has found his signature style: that of a meticulous musician who flirts between electro and pop, and whose sound leaves the studio for the club converting us to his concept of partying, whereby having fun means getting sweaty.

With his baseball cap and moustache combo, the anthemic tune “The Sun” and his cult-status videos, Myd has sure understood how to unify a crowd of faithful dancers and upbeat party-goers, for whom the night always appears sun-drenched. With every set and every new release, we witness that whatever the fiesta, Myd sure knows how to get it started. Myd is currently working on his debut album and is playing throughout festivals and clubs this summer.

Deezer Rooftop Sessions Mr Eazi  &  Dj Edu

June 29, 2023

Mr Eazi

MR EAZI is the creative and business visionary leading African music into its future. As a recording artist, the Nigerian multihyphenate is the voice behind afropop hits “Pour Me Water,” “Skin Tight” (featuring Efya) and “Leg Over,” as well as groundbreaking collaborations with the likes of Beyoncé, Bad Bunny and J Balvin. A serial entrepreneur, he’s also the founder of emPawa Africa, a talent incubator program which funds and mentors emerging African artists, and the digital music aggregator emPawa Distribution — initiatives hailed by CNN, Rolling Stone, Billboard and Forbes for their forward-thinking approach. Born in Port Harcourt, Nigeria and raised in Lagos, Mr Eazi began his music career while attending college in Ghana, where his side hustles included promoting concerts and running a concierge service shuttling wealthy kids to parties.

His first-ever recording, made on a whim, became an accidental local hit, prompting him to self-release a mixtape, About to Blow, in 2013. Blending touches of Ghanaian highlife music and Pidgin slang with Nigerian chord progressions and R&B vocal inflection, he soon developed a mellowed-out spin on afropop which he dubbed Banku Music, after the popular Ghanaian comfort food dish. After returning to Nigeria to work a corporate job in engineering, Eazi decided to make music his full-time focus, using a $1,000 gift from friends to fund the video for his breakthrough 2015 single, “Skin Tight.” Arriving just as afrobeats was exploding into global consciousness, Eazi quickly became an international figure, performing across Africa, Europe and the United States, pouring his travels into the critically-acclaimed mixtapes Life is Eazi, Vol. 1: Accra to Lagos (2017) and Life is Eazi, Vol 2: Lagos to London (2018).

These projects and their resulting hit singles, along with Eazi’s fashion-forward personal style, helped land Eazi in the pages of Vogue, THE FADER, Paper and other influential outlets. Fiercely independent and digitally savvy, Eazi has resisted opportunities to sign with major record labels, instead choosing to operate his own independent imprint, Banku Music. Since establishing his own career, he has answered the call to mentor and support other emerging artists from Africa. Taking inspiration from his own experiences participating in tech incubators as a young entrepreneur, he launched emPawa Africa in late 2018. In its first round of investment, emPawa Africa provided US$300,000 —or US$3,000 each — in funding for 100 artists from 11 countries, launching the careers of rising stars like Nigeria’s Joeboy and Ghana’s J.Derobie. The initiative’s success led Eazi to form additional companies like emPawa Distribution, the first digital music aggregator focused solely on servicing African music to the global market; and emPawa Live, a college concert series, to support this growing ecosystem of talent. 2019 proved to be a watershed year for Eazi, on several accounts. April saw him make his debut at Coachella, where he was one of only two African artists to play the world’s most prestigious music festival. He was featured on two tracks from Beyoncé’s The Lion King: The Gift album, and appeared alongside Latin superstars Bad Bunny and J Balvin’s on "Como Un Bebé," from the duo’s collaborative album Oasis.

He has started 2020 once again on a high note, releasing the striking video for “Kpalanga,” and collaborating with DJ Neptune and Joeboy on “Nobody,” which has topped charts across several African countries while reaching #7 on Billboard’s World Digital Songs Sales Chart. One Day You Will Understand, a four-song EP of mellow afro R&B released in June, marks his first body of work for the year, and will be followed by a second EP, as yet untitled, dropping July 19. In May, Eazi appeared on the cover of Billboard’s Africa Now issue, the U.S. music bible’s first ever issue dedicated to African music. Forbes Africa also included him in its annual 30 Under 30 issue spotlighting the continent’s young thought leaders.

Mr Eazi’s ascent into global stardom has seen him clock over 300 million YouTube views and more than 5.8 million Spotify streams per month, making him one of the most streamed African artists worldwide. In 2020, the sky is truly the limit for Eazi, one of the true leaders in the music business today.
