It would be great if you could tag songs with your own categories and then use those to generate a playlist based on those tags. For example if you had tagged songs previously in your library you could then tell Deezer to generate a playlist based on the tags ‘happy’ ‘rock’ and ‘party’ and it would put together a playlist of all the songs with those tags. It could then use tags assigned by other users matching the ones you’ve used to suggest similar songs you might like based on those tags

Tags would be ideal. As it is, I have songs in multiple playlists, it's a little redundant. As a librarian and expert cataloger, it is my professional opinion that adding tags would be the best way for people to organise and find their favorite songs. ;-)

Tags and rating would be very handy.

I am a DJ and think in terms of mood, track bpm, genre or genre group, so any tool for marking track characteristics would be very useful.

These tags should be common to users, anyone can add characteristics to a track.  Some tags can be controlled - that is, if there is a „Techno Raw” tag in the database, then there should not be a „techno-raw” or „raw TECHNO” tag.

Tags: genres, mood, emotions, then associations.  Place Tag.  Energy tag. Tags can be ranked by popularity.  This means if 10 thousand listeners put this track in a cheerful mood, and 5 thousand in a sunny, light mood, then the tag will be assigned a cheerful mood.  That is, when we talk about general music tagging, this process should be done by half users, half controlled by the deezer team for more convenient use.

Can be creat separate tag thread on the forum for including new tags from users by dev. team

Hello you all. Think I’m at the right place to push for a possibility to add multiple tags to a song and therefore be able to organise them according to your own classification through your own different playlists. Been doing that a few years ago in iTunes and that works so great! Allows you to search inside your own « Party » playlist for #dancing #british #rock song

Love Deezer!

Thanks

Tags are not available yet. Please add this feature!

I have playlists for several dance types but inside each genre there are many different styles. I need to filter these. With tags.

Hello!
Are you still looking for a solution to have multiple tags?

I could really use that help.

I’m a folk dance DJ, so I have one playlist for each dance, but that makes it more complicate to have a DJ Set where I can select different combinations of different dances, for example if I want to select dances that have something in common.

If there were multiple tags, the sky would be the limit for having great folk dance parties!

+1 to add rating/tag system. I hope Deezer will develop more in “audio catalogue that can be also played”-style than fancy algorithm-based stuff that generate even more random music for “motivation” playlist, while, at the same time, user has ho possibility to mark, rate, organize his own data.

for exampIe, I don’t know how “popularity” column can be used in practical way, so, in my opinion, this part of interface can be replaced, with star rating:

please add tag support into deezer.

if i listen to an album i decide its good for listingen while i’m driving, so i would add a “car” tag and maybe also think its good for my workout so i would add “fitnes”. then there might be a track in that album that is good for working, i would want to a tag “working”

you cant resolv that with normal playlist, would have thousands of playlists. tags are way more efficient.

please ad this feature and maybe update us on when we can expect this feature. this thread is years old :-(

This is a unique opportunity for Deezer. No other online music service has this feature.

Besides, from a technical perspective, this is a quite easy feature to build!

I think this is sort of what I really want as a feature in Deezer. My idea is inspired by “smart playlists” in the old Windows Media Player where you could rate your MP3´s with stars and generate playlists based on criterias.

Ex. :

One want a playlist that comprise tracks with at least a 4 star rating.

The whole idea could be labelled as “programmatic playerlist generation”.

I want to divest from the origin way to create a playlist where users click on a specific track and adds it to a playlist. Instead I want a more programmatic way where the user creates a playlist based on several criterias.

An example:

I want a playlist that takes {number} tracks from each  of the following {albums/playlists}: item1, item2,item3,item4

I want them sorted {alphabetically, random, some custom sorting}

All of the tracks must {be at least 4 star rated, be at least 3 bar popular, etc..}

And so on. You could also add more criterias like genre constraints and track length constraints.

In that way I am able to alter the playlist without having to remove one or several tracks by clicking and selecting them. If I don’t want a specific album or playlist, I just removing them from the playlist generator page.

All this is as mentioned before, inspired by Smart Playlist found in Windows Media Player which I really misses. It was brilliant.
