I thought I’d start a thread to share your deezer month in music 🎶. I am always interested in seeing what others are listening to, and I find it to be an excellent tool for music discovery. I think others share this view. Also intriguing is to see how much others are listening.Feel free to post a screenshot of your monthly stats, and let’s keep it going month after month.
Read the article here, non-paywall → Spotify Increases Prices...Again“Spotify is cranking up the volume, err, subscription price, for the second time in a year. Whether it’s to cover the increased cost of licensing music or to fund future complaints against Apple, Spotify will start charging subscribers $1 to $2 more per month, depending on their plan.”
https://www.musicbusinessworldwide.com/deezer-has-deleted-26m-useless-tracks-since-it-launched-artist-centric-model-with-universal-music-group/For anyone who continues to be spammed by low-quality AI m̶u̶s̶i̶c̶ noise on the other streaming service, this is one more big positive for deezer.Take a few minutes to read the linked article.“The intention is to declutter the platform, focus on tracks that are valuable to our users and increase the market share for all artists who create this music,” Folgueira told MBW on Thursday (March 14).
The incredible resilience of the music industry (behind soft paywall) An interesting and informative read for anyone curious about the history, and current state, of music streaming.“It’s hard to get large organisations like Apple, Amazon, Google to move. Lest the title be taken out of context, the full article can be read here.Always a plus when you can hear straight from the company CEO, something I have appreciated about Jeronimo, his transparency.
Amazon increases the cost of its Music Unlimited plans“This is the third increase for subscribers to Music Unlimited in just over a year, with Amazon hoping that the hikes don’t scare away subscribers or prompt them to try out competing services.”Full disclosure, I edited the link in the quoted text and added the parenthetical emphasis in the title. 😇
YouTube Premium Family plan is going from US $14.99 to $22.99. And of course Spotify is rumored to be rolling out a Platinum tier for $20-25/mo that includes HiFi (and likely moves Spotify Wrapped and other features behind the Platinum tier). Amazon Music just raised their Family sub price.I know none of this makes it any easier on us, but it seems to be the way things are moving. The cost of everything around me has gone up.Deezer is feature-laden, innovative, offers HiFi quality, and continues to represent a value in the industry.
https://9to5mac.com/2022/10/24/apple-music-tv-prices-going-up/Another sign of the industry shift as Apple raises prices across the board (student prices were already raised recently). At first glance, it appears to be a US-only price raise, but in the text of the article:“If you are in an International market, you should also expect to see proportionally similar price increases go into effect beginning today. Current subscribers will receive notifications of the planned price increases 30 days prior to the service renewing at the higher price”
