why do I keep getting emails to reset my password..!!?

Every few days I keep getting an email from the Security Team to reset my password because my account has been compromised!!

Its becoming too frequent and really annoying to the extent that I’m thinking of canceling my subscription and deleting the App completely!!

And also makes me wonder, if I always reset my password, and my account keeps getting compromised every week, what level of security does this App have that is not able to secure its users..!!

Screenshot attached, and if I get another email asking me to reset my password, I will delete my account and remove the App completely from my life!!

Did yyou reset your password every time you got the email ? 

Did you reset your password at all ? 

Yes, every single time I reset my password, and a week later I get notified of a suspicious activity..

Hello @Yasser Akram, can you confirm that it’s really coming from this email address securityteam@deezer.com?

Please note that:

  • You also get a similar notification when you connect a new device.
  • About security, it’s not always the fault of the service provider (Deezer) - this could perhaps also mean that you have a compromised device probably infected with malware or keyloggers that get your credentials each time you change them.

If you strongly believe that none of the above two explanations apply to your case, please contact support here.

Yes, its coming from the Security Team, and no I do not connect from any external device (in fact I rarely open the App), plus all the notifications are coming from devices that are either in Europe or the US (I’m attaching a screenshot of the last one I just got yesterday again)!!

I don’t believe my device has any malware, I’m using an iPhone (and I don’t experience this with any other Application)..

Anyway, its too late now, I have canceled my subscription and waiting for the cancellation to take place in order to completely delete my account and throw the App in the bin!! Its extremely worrying that I keep getting these notifications every week, and who knows if the security on the App is compromised its not the reason for any malware that could be entered through the App..

This has been my worst experience ever and I will not recommend this App for anyone!!

Hello once again @Yasser Akram - sorry to see you go.

You however have provided some additional information that could be the likely cause of the problem you experienced - that being devices connected from US or Europe.

  1. Could you from a browser on your PC/Mac navigate to this page and unlink all devices.
  2. Then this page and delete all apps.
  3. Then change your password here and make sure it meets the minimum password requirements as suggested in the mail.

I’m pretty sure this should do the trick, otherwise support would best help you - please reach out to them too if the above don’t work.
