The price increase has really annoyed me as I wasn't told about the increase. Only found out after they took the new price out of my bank. Always liked Deezer been using it for a long time, but the lack of information has annoyed me so much I am now looking at alternatives that isn't Spotify. I have the option for free Spotify but declined as I don't like the way Spotify works. So it's more the principle than the increase.

Hello Stephen,

Your frustration is understandable. I would suggest a moment a reflection and to not allow your frustration to result in leaving a service you have enjoyed, and which has met your needs, for so long.

The hifi quality at deezer is exceptional, perhaps give it a chance.

Another option is to go to deezer free for a month, which will save you the £9.99 you usually spend, and will offset the £2 price increase for 5 months, while also giving you the hifi tier. when you return. You won't lose any of your favorites, playlists, or any other data while you are on deezer free for the month.

Just a thought.

Cheers,

G

No email as to why my family account is jumping from £15 to £18 PM - That’s an increase of 20% without warning. If they had bothered to warn me and explain I would have been more inclined to stay.

Such a shame after 8 years as a paying member

I had been paying for deezer hifi for 2ish years, then they offered me trio for free (Sama price). I tried it but could not add any other people because I was in the wrong country, long story short (some 15 emails with the support) we decided to cancel my old account and create a new one in the "correct" country.

All worked fine and I successfully added a new account, then they said that I could just resubscribe once my month was out.

Only option I have now tho.. is family and they have completely removed trio from their offered subscriptions.

So that would mean a price increase for about 4-5€ a month for me.. So I will be moving to Amazon instead

Sadly, could barely afford the music option @9.99, don’t really like Spotify so might just use Deezer free for a while and shout at the ads… :D

Works, ads and free, what else do you need.

Just keep talking over ads loud when they come around and live big.

You may as well try free options. You just talk over ads, so you don’t hear them.

Free lunch it is. Now someone may say there is no free lunch, but you are paying with talking over advertisements. The price increase is never good, especially if you are on tight budget for now.

Good lucks.

I'm leaving Deezer due to the rase with 10%. The excuse is that they are increasing the quality of the sound! What a difference will that make when you have a simple amplifier!  Just like we will hear the differance.

I think it's a simple excuse to have more profit.

Sometimes less is more!

I am actually enjoying Deezer Free now. It’s Hifi plan ended, didn’t continue.

The quality is not perfect, but it’s reasonable for free, and you can save €10,99 or what it is.

If there’s some ads, just talk over them, and you’ll be fine.

You can save 131,81 euros this way. What is a better deal than free music?

All. Year. Long.

I cancelled because I had no communication to tell me they were adjusting the price. Leaves a sour taste in my mouth. Not a transparent brand. On top of that Deezer doesn't support smart devices, their pc app is a complete joke in terms of UX and their endless licensing issues in my country meant many of my favorite songs disappeared without communication. Moving to Spotify has already been great so far. Got 3 free months premium, works with Google Home apps, smart watch etc. I've emailed endless issues / bug / feature requests with many being ignored. Maybe Spotify will listen to what we want.

Sure.

In my country, in Russia, both Deezer and Spotify subscriptions cost less, but Deezer increased the price a few months ago. Not much, I calculated now, about 10%. I unsubscribed a couple months ago, but now we have new year vacations, i think i will listen music a lot these days, so i have subscribed again. Will i continue? idk.

Their program is sure much better, but they do not solve all bugs either.

Their apps is much better and price in my country same as Deezer, so you might want to enjoy more for same price. I don’t think there’s perfect app for music anywhere. Choose which works the best for you personally I think asking one euro more for Deezer and not having the basics work is not right.

:joy: beginning with hifi?

Well for me, basics like connecting to google home smart devices, smart watches is a huge win already, Hifi isnt really an issue for me. But will keep your replies in mind.

They’re increasing the price plans? when?

If they do, I think the better option is to switch, like other streaming services might cost more; however, feature wise, you can do more with other services like YT Music, Spotify - “ They’re more social, better recommendations, they enhance their apps more frequently” - something like worth but Deezer developers are very slow in adding extra features on their platform

I was on YTM for 3 months and its library is crazily perfect (especially since you can also stream and add YT vids to your playlists and so on) I switched back to Deezer because they at least offer a “broken” integration with Last.fm but YT doesn’t have any plan to arrange that integration… also they have the worst “new release” announcements and playlist, and recommendations are also meh

But Spotify? Deezer should be worried…

also let’s don’t forget Apple (which is extremely tempting)

Yes I think Spotify would be the best option now to switch to. If Spotify can bring a flow like feature, it’ll be my go to.

Not sure if it is still relevant to you, but there is an external desktop app for YouTube Music which can scrobble to Last.fm besides the Web Scrobbler browser extension which can also do this, same as Android scrobbling apps. On iOS devices you cannot scrobble from YouTube though, see the related support FAQ on Last.fm:

https://support.last.fm/t/youtube-and-youtube-music-scrobbling/173

Furthermore most of the known issues with Deezer’s internal scrobbling option can be fixed nowadays when you are a Last.fm Pro user by editing your past and future scrobbles, see the Deezer Scrobbling FAQ:

I am also cancelling.  I got HIFI for $1.90/month (annual at 50% off).  Now, Deezer increased it to $10.99/month. Wow.

My 20 plus friends and I already left deezer and some switch to Spotify and some are on Apple music. We were all using Deezer for more than a year as we just love it with our deezer student subscriptions. Unfortunately just last day we noticed that Deezer Student discount is no longer available in our country (Philippines) and that the price was just too high because from 3.88USD family premium it became a whopping 17.99USD!, and from a 2.52USD regular premium it became a 10.99USD Which is basically more expensive than Netflix Ultra HD premium in my Country! And finally there is no more student discount available atleast in my country. So yeah! That being said, we just switched to different services as we just don't wanna pay for thay price and for us it ain't worth it. Expect more deezer cancellation of subscription from the Philippines, many would switch to Apple music as it comes with HiFi at no additional cost, not to mention that Apple music now in the Philippines is offering a whopping FREE 6 MONTHS of premium free trial to new subscribers. So Good luck deezer and Please don't be surprised if more users will leave deezer!

Spotify is $9.99 in the US for the Premium plan. Deezer is $9.99 for Premium, $14.99 for HiFi. Both services have annual plans that save money. Spotify’s yet-to-be released HiFi tier is an unknown entity in cost, performance/quality, and release date (they have been touting HiFi since 2017).

If deezer elects to include HiFi at the Premium tier in the US, I see my monthly subscription fee dropping. That might prompt me to book an annual subscription.

Even at the Premium tier, deezer includes SongCatcher, editor-curated playlists, lyrics, and a user-centric payment system for artists.

Spotify does not have lyrics in my region, Shazam is extra, and most playlists are machine generated. Artists are making more money with Spotify because of subscriber volume, but I’m not a huge fan of the way they distribute the royalties. They do have Spotify Connect, which is fantastic.

If Spotify “breaks their promise” by not releasing HiFi this year, will those who were indignant at the deezer price change also leave Spotify?

Everyone’s situation is different, but I’m not going to leave a service over a couple dollars a month or a perceived slight due to a policy change in a rapidly-changing industry.

G

@GropplerZorn couple of dollars for you, but Deezer is neglecting third world countries by raising prices almost double. From $5.99 to $10.99 is not a couple dollars. It's an unprecedented standardized pricing.

@hpguru in my country Deezer is now the most expensive service. It's almost double the price compared to Spotify, Apple, and YTM.

Once my yearly HIFI subscription ends (on july) if they continue with those prices I will not renew and will move to Tidal which offers me HIFI for much less than Deezer even on the yearly plan without paying for a whole year in advance. 30% less than Deezer!

What happened to them? have they gone mad?!?!

@Yossi Kozay People living in places where the price was $9.99 only have to pay $1 more, but for the rest of us it’s like: “we don’t care about you, lesser countries”

If it was 2-3$ it's ok but it almost doubles the cost with no improvement in service.

People, including yours truly, are asking for gapless playback for years and nothing changes including so many bugs. It's just doesn't worth it anymore. I will move to Tidal as soon as my subscription expires on July.
