I'm moving to Spotify which remains at £9.99 for an individual plan.

Reply to this post if you are also leaving Deezer due to the £2/$2 price increase.

If a lot of people reply to this post it will send a clear message to Deezer.

Are you really paying 9,99 for Spotify?

In my country they increased from that to 10,99 in euros. Since Deezer announced hi fi I couldn’t opt out, and same price 10,99 now euros, I was going for 3 mo free trail with them and seem to stay.

I’m very inclined to cancel my subscription but I’m still studying which other service would be the best for me. I have a family member plan so need to think about that =/

Maybe these articles can be helpful: https://www.forbes.com/sites/barrycollins/2021/10/20/deezer-breaks-price-promise-with-20-hike-on-premium-plans/

Spotify is $9.99 in the US for the Premium plan. Deezer is $9.99 for Premium, $14.99 for HiFi. Both services have annual plans that save money. Spotify’s yet-to-be released HiFi tier is an unknown entity in cost, performance/quality, and release date (they have been touting HiFi since 2017).

If deezer elects to include HiFi at the Premium tier in the US, I see my monthly subscription fee dropping. That might prompt me to book an annual subscription.

Even at the Premium tier, deezer includes SongCatcher, editor-curated playlists, lyrics, and a user-centric payment system for artists.

Spotify does not have lyrics in my region, Shazam is extra, and most playlists are machine generated. Artists are making more money with Spotify because of subscriber volume, but I’m not a huge fan of the way they distribute the royalties. They do have Spotify Connect, which is fantastic.

If Spotify “breaks their promise” by not releasing HiFi this year, will those who were indignant at the deezer price change also leave Spotify?

Everyone’s situation is different, but I’m not going to leave a service over a couple dollars a month or a perceived slight due to a policy change in a rapidly-changing industry.

I don’t see any reason to leave Deezer . Even after the price increase .

My annual subscription for Deezer HiFi has gone from £134.91 to £107.91. That’s cheaper than Spotify over the year paying monthly, and just about £7 more than Spotify if you buy an annual gift card. Then you have to tackle the UI and the daily onslaught of podcasts littering the home screen.

Apple Music is the same prices, but for me does offer a little more with DJ sets etc, however, I prefer the library at Deezer so I’m staying til January 2023 at least.

@Ann.hale468 You should mention that you probably get HiFi streaming now with your increased Premium price, so if you are interested in a better audio quality, it is actually cheaper than before. This offer is not available globally for everyone yet, Deezer is rolling out this new tier slowly “in select markets”.

I agree that not needing or wanting HiFi streaming and having to pay more is a drawback though.

Now tidal has 9,99 euros/dollars plan including Hifi and Deezer is running it 10,99.

When Spotify comes with one plan, they almost need to keep it 10,99 to not lose customers.

The MQA is 19,99 now with user centric payment option at tidals.

I think competition is great AND I hope Deezer will survive :)

They’re increasing the price plans? when?

If they do, I think the better option is to switch, like other streaming services might cost more; however, feature wise, you can do more with other services like YT Music, Spotify - “ They’re more social, better recommendations, they enhance their apps more frequently” - something like worth but Deezer developers are very slow in adding extra features on their platform, increasing price plans could be a consideration to some users.

So far, I’m happy with Deezer, I know there are other platforms that does better, but I’m sure that deezer is catching up and have a business model plan to be better, specially with their new Cheif Executive, I’m sure he has better vision for the platform.

I think 2022 would be a big year for Deezer.

Cheers.

I'd been with Deezer since 2014 so had a deal price for premium for £6.99 since then. I'd received the price increase email recently saying the cost was going up £2pm but decided to stay due to the cheaper price I had been receiving. However they have just charged me £11.99 so an increase of £5 or over 70%! I've emailed to find out if this was a mistake, especially as they said I'd have a £2 increase, if the new price stands then they have lost a customer that has been with them since the beginning!

I’m angry that providers of services assume they can just take more money without notifying the customer. No notice whatsoever.

I’ve always been on Deezer’s side vs services like Spotify which I find simply awful, but this takes the biscuit. I’m off to Tidal.

Ok so I found the email. The last two sentences of 4 lengthy paragraphs are the part mentioning the price hike. Sneaky.

It was sneaky right at the bottom of the page. Still doesn't mean they should be able to increase mine from £6.99 to £11.99 but going on their reply to me earlier, they don't care! I'm off elsewhere

Music lovers are always interested in comparing services. Maybe stop back by after a while and let us know what you think of Tidal?

where ya headed?  i’m always looking at options

Taking the 3 months Amazon music (free) while I look into others, probably Spotify as I'm sure I can get it free through my crypto.com account somehow

TIDAL’s library is a joke and I have morals for whose or which pocket I’m putting my money in…

If anything, Deezer should be more worried about Apple rather than TIDAL (and Spotify still doesn’t support lossless)

I was on YTM for 3 months and its library is crazily perfect (especially since you can also stream and add YT vids to your playlists and so on) I switched back to Deezer because they at least offer a “broken” integration with Last.fm but YT doesn’t have any plan to arrange that integration… also they have the worst “new release” announcements and playlist, and recommendations are also meh

But Spotify? Deezer should be worried…

also let’s don’t forget Apple (which is extremely tempting)

I’ve cancelled my subscription renewal and temporarily leaving Deezer for a few months. I’m moving to Spotify on their 3 months for £9.99 offer. I prefer to stay with Deezer but £11.99/month is a bit steep for no perceived benefit to me. I also had issue with wireless speakers losing their Deezer integration and It not being fixed after 1 year whereas the Spotify integration still works.
