Hi!

I see this price increase unacceptable. Just because you introduced HiFi quality, you will double subscription for Family package.
There is no other choice? If this is true, I'll have to cancel my subscription.

Waiting for a feedback.

Thank you!

In my country the price increase got tripled due to currency conversion rate, just cancelled my 5 year Hifi subscription now. I switch over to Deezer from Spotify years ago due to affordability but now I am ending it and will go find other streaming platforms instead, the price is just too much for me..

As a challenger, Deezer needs to adjust quickly to make sure that we can continue to compete with global giants. That’s why we have taken the decision to make HiFi (FLAC quality) part of all our subscriptions. It means we had to change the price point to reflect the value we provide, as well as the standards in the country.

For me the subscription was 4.99 and has been raised to 10.99

Therefore I immediately cancelled my subscription and went to Tidal. The key points of a 4 USD subscriptions fee are

HiFi Sound Quality Up to 1411 kbps

90M+ songs and 450K+ videos

So, Deezer, your management failed here. Double the price and offer almost nothing – typical management team who wants to show numbers quickly…

Fail no. 1. – Head in the sand, not knowing what the competition has.

Fail no. 2. – NetFlix has VIDEO and 4 DEVICES for 12€. Deezer, for 11€ offers 1 device and offers no other possibility, for example to opt-out from the so called HiFi.

Same here. From 10.49€ to 17.99€. That’s an insane rise in price and would render Deezer the most expensive service I have by a large margin.

Where I live (Portugal) Deezer is also the most expensive music service by far! Including Tidal, Amazon, etc.

I do love Deezer, but I’m out.

We don’t have other option at the moment, but you are receiving a better song quality, no worries.

Let me know if you have any other questions.

But who told you that everybody wants to have the HiFi quality and pay almost double? Most of the people cannot tell the difference and/or don’t have any suitable equipment for uncompressed music. Majority of today’s folks anyway transmit the music via Bluetooth that compresses the signal, play it on mono (or omni-directional) speaker. It even creates higher costs for Deezer because of the increased bandwidth. This quality hike really does not have sense at all. Please at least admit you just need to increase the prices, i.e. revenue, i.e. profit - simple as that!

By adding HiFi to all plans and raising the price Deezer is essentially moving to the HiFi segment of the market where Tidal and Quobuz currently compete. However, we long time Deezer customers, chose this segment of the market, not the HiFi segment. We could have chosen to to pay a higher price for HiFi by using another service, but we did not.

I’d be surprised if a significant percentage of Deezer customers stick around after this move.

Total unacceptable for doubling price.

It is too much Deezer.

Userlevel 2

I agree, doubling the price in one move is too much.

I’ve been a happy customer for well over 5 years, I even moved to the family plan, but I can’t stick around with this move.

Same here. Going to cancel our family subscription.

Wow, it’s hard to imagine a more out-of-touch answer to your users’ outrage. Do you seriously believe that most, … scratch that…, any, of your existing customers want “FLAC quality”, and want it so much that they are willing to double the price of the service, and pay double what your competitors charge?

I’ve been paying for your service for several years, and not one, that’s right not even once did it ever cross my mind that I wish the sound quality would have been higher. I think the sound quality you’ve been using - 320kbps - has been perfect just the way it was, and higher quality than what the mp3s I had previously ever were. I would never have considered paying more for “higher sound quality”, and definitely not double the price.

As it stands, the new Deezer Family cost in Israel, $18, will be almost double that of the family plans in Spotify ($9.3) or Apple Music ($10). Even Netflix HD family plan is cheaper ($15!). The chances that I’ll stay with Deezer at that price are the same chance that I’ll be able to tell 320kbps audio quality from FLAC, i.e., zero chances.

The fact that the CPI rose this year between 5% to 10% in different countries, means that that, as you said, “pricing changes for almost all products” in the 5%-10% range. Nobody is doubling the price of a service, which Deezer just announced doing.

Moreover, no service with a minority share increases its prices far above those those of its more successful competitors… In Israel, a Spotify family account costs $9.3 a month, an Apple Music family account costs $10, and the new Deezer price will be $18. That’s absolutely ridiculous. Nobody, and certainly not me, will remain a customer at those prices.

I want to thank Deezer for being my platform of choice for 6 years. The pricing was OK, the quality was OK as well and all the features were decently done.

I understand that these times pricing changes for almost all products regardless of the market, it’s understandable.

Yesterday I received an email about better quality in my plan and I was pleasantly surprised, but after reading further - you just upgraded me to a more expensive plan you already had. The wording of the notification was not “We have to raise prices, but here’s a cookie”. It was a deceptive and cheap marketing. Not even close to being appropriate to your paying audience.

And for this disrespectful email I want to say - F you too, I’m migrating to Ti***.

As, clearly, many of you are expressing here, the price hikes Deezer have callously thrown at us are unacceptable.

In my case, the family plan I am on will increase by 51%.

Deezer’s attempt to dress this up as a footnote in an email about providing HiFi quality audio is disingenuous at best.  But it’s hard to see it as anything else but flat-out deceiving - buried near the end of a long email.

Even worse, is support pedaling a line about providing more value...

We want to provide more value to our subscribers by giving them lossless quality music.

Let’s be clear - this is not providing more value for most Deezer subscribers, it is providing substantially less value.

As consumers, we need to stand up to tone-deaf and deceitful behaviour from suppliers.  I came to Deezer, so many years ago, to do my bit to support the little guy and keep some balance in the market, so it wasn’t “all Spotify”.  But that’s it for me, this makes Deezer the most expensive family music steaming service, and it’s not even the best one.

I strongly suggest you all do the same and send Deezer a clear message that their tactics will not be tolerated!

Price increases - okay. Doubling the price with very little warning - nope. Not happening. Goodbye Deezer.

Does it transfer the likes and everything ?

Not sure to be honest. At least the playlists are there.

I migrated to apple music and the only sync it does not sync is the artists list but I think this is an apple music limitation

Does it transfer the likes and everything ?

forcing the HiFi on Deezer family accounts is not cool.
switching to Spotify ASAP

but you are receiving a better song quality, no worries.

Do you really think the average headphones and soundcards can take advantage of hifi sound. This is extra cost for no return

Shocks me that someone at Deezer is getting paid (probably a lot) to take silly decisions like these.

Increase the value of the service? Retain customers? be competitive? Nah.. lets just increase the price 70%!

I have to say I am shocked. As a family we have to look where our money goes and a 70% price increase is not nothing. I came here from Spotify a year ago. We had to accept some downsides like the bad Sonos integration which only slowly improves, but accepted it as Spotify got more and more unpleasant as a company.

Now with 70% price increase we have to reconsider. Tidal still has its family plan for 10,49€ and this also has Hifi streaming, will have to check the catalogue. Would be sad if we had to go back to Spotify.

I am really disappointed...

We never asked for Hifi!

I got the same email today. Absolutely ridiculous… My Deezer Family price will more than double from $8.7 to $18, and what do I get as consolation? Some sort of “Hifi” bullshit I won’t even use.

And the irony? While 99% of my friends jumped ship from Deezer and went to Spotify, I was one of the few that remained on Deezer as a thanks for their Deezer Family plan (which, a few years ago, Spotify didn’t have, and I needed). But today, Spotify has a Family account, and it’s still $9.3 (in Israel). How long do you think I’ll stay on Deezer if the plan is twice more expensive than Spotify?

Sad, and I hope somebody in Deezer will change their mind very soon, or we’ll see a mass exodus :-(

Got the same email today; I was paying 7.49 Eur for a family plan and I`m supposed to pay 17.99 since December. No way. I already canceled my subscription, installed Spotify and transferred my playlists.

Way to go, Deezer!

Which service did you use for the transfer?

I used tunemymusic (app.tunemymusic.com). Worked fine but it does have a 500 files cap if you do it free.

Ridiculous… Someone in Deezer thought this would be a good idea and automatically accepted by the users. Taking care for existing customers, par excellence. No empathy for paying customers who are anyway struggling with high inflation.
