Deezer’s “Flow” mode plays individual songs that it thinks I like or might like, and I love it. However, for some types of music, or in some moods, individual songs are not the right granularity. I own one thousand (yes...) physical CDs, ripped them all to a hard disk, and what I often like to do with them is to pick one of these CDs at random and play the entire CD. This is especially good for classical music (where I want to hear the entire composition or concert, not a single movement), but also quite enjoyable for other types of music - e.g., hear one album from the Beatles in full instead of just one of their songs.Unfortunately, I can’t replicate this experience with deezer. I can play a specific album, but I need to choose it manually. It can’t play a random album for me (or at least, I couldn’t figure out how).I wish I could ask Deezer’s Flow mode to play me entire albums that it thinks I might like. Even better, I would have liked to go to individual playlists, moods, genere,
After two years of happy subscription with Deezer, I was unfortunately left no choice but to switch to a competitor, after Deezer doubled its prices in Israel (from $8 a month for a family account to $18), while all of its competitors remained at the original price point. Only when my paid subscription ended, I discovered that “Deezer Free” (the one with ads) is no longer supported “in your country” (Israel). I am saddened for Deezer because I know that now not only will you lose all your existing Israeli customers (who will not agree to this price doubling), but you’ll never get new ones (I only subscribed to Deezer after enjoying its free version for a few months and seeing what it can do). But it also caused me a bigger problem: I can no longer see my old Deezer liked song list! Deezer Free’s unavailability in Israel not only prevents me from listening to songs - but it prevents me from getting into the Deezer app or Web UI at all, and I can’t even see my playlists. This is unfair,
The “flow” feature is supposed to play the songs I liked, and other songs it thinks I might like. A lot of songs have “duplicate” variants - e.g., the same song in one of several “greatest hits” albums, or perhaps a subtly different version. The problem I want to raise is that flow sometimes picks those variants to play. This is a problem because when flow plays such a variant song - and this unfortunately happens often - I see that it doesn’t have a heart, and quickly “heart” this variant song, happy that I discovered another song I missed. The result is that my favorite songs list now includes many duplicates of the same song. Then, when I play all my songs, a song that has many duplicates on my favorite song list has a higher chance of being played. This is annoying. Many people have raised ideas in the past about to preventing the addition of duplicate songs to the favorite list (when you press the heart it can warn you). But what I claim here is that this duplication problem would
