Yeah, it's a weird approach alright. Albums ARE sorted by Artist at least, but it would be better if they grouped under each Artist like folders. That's kind of what I expected the ARTIST tab to do, with links to 'my' albums and 'my' tracks. But that tab has nothing to do with your own collection at all. Deezer really needs to step up their game with regard to library structure, but I think their focus is on the automated FLOW playlists.
I'd like to be able to skew the Flow algorithm toward less popular tracks. I'm sure I can't be the only listener who wants to hear more than the title track from each album? This probably contributes greatly to the repetition folk have complained about. I assume it uses ratings from something like Last.fm to play only popular tracks. If so it shouldn't be hard to introduce a version of Flow which treats the entire catalog without that bias.
I agree we need something along these lines, but Deezer needs to establish some kind of master library first. Until we have that it would have to ask which playlist(s) the track should be deleted from, as it could have multiple instances. While this is probably possible, I think it easier to have tracks added & removed from a master library.
Need this. Whether it remembers the last track played per device or across platforms, but in some form. I'm loving Deezer overall, and on mobile it's not a huge problem, and the app saves state unless actively closed anyway. But I can't just jump in the car and play music - I have to select a playlist every time. No other streaming app has this issue.
This thread seems dead, but I'd like to show support too. I shuffle my music mostly & find it really had to know which track is playing from which playlist. Perhaps if Deezer cannot have a global library for some reason, a "Playing from xxxplaylist" field could be added to the now playing screen. This would make it easier to delete tracks or correct some of those live recordings and remixes that always seem to sneak in.
Perhaps as an interim measure, if Tidal quality streams are for some reason some time away on Android, we could have HiFi downloads at least? I see no reason that couldn't be done. Also the option to upload (and download) at Flac quality. Those files we've ripped ourselves shouldn't have to be a lower quality.
The repetition everyone mentions is very real. Just certain tracks. Definitely feels like I'm being pushed to like some songs i normally wouldn't. Is the algorithm biased toward some better paying labels?
HI New user here (still in the free trial period) and still getting accustomed to the idea of not having a "library" outside of a Favourites playlist. I've always used a library, since the days of WinAmp, then iTunes, and got very used to 5-star rating systems. I regularly jump ship between Apple, Google, Spotify and Tidal. Streaming services are, by necessity, very basic and linear in their approach to liking music - while I'm disinclined to "favourite" every song I don't hate. It would be nice to have at least a 2-stage approval system (as well as the Dislike option), so users can confirm "yes, you're on the right track with this music" without adding it to a very limited 'Favourite" selection.
