Try our remote control and let us know how it works!

You've asked for this feature and since then, the wait has been a long journey. Our community pet peeve for a while, starts to get shape in our platform… :iphone:

Welcome to our remote control feature! :boom:

It's a great privilege for me to announce our initial test launch, for iOS users who are on the beta version of the app :minidisc:

You can now use your iPhone (or iPad) to control our desktop app, the Deezer web app, another iPhone or iPad.

How to access the remote control feature? :telephone_receiver:

You'll need to have the beta version of the Deezer app on iOS:

  • Open app > Settings > Deezer Labs
  • Activate Remote Control
  • Choose your track and click on the “Audio output” icon
  • Select the device you want to control

Hello… it is time for me to get a new phone. (Not Apple, can’t justify the cost here for a HP)

My current phone is Samsung A30. I am happy to change brands so would like to know what android brands you are working on and will be released first after iOs.

My desktop is Apple M1 Air > DAC > Amp

A remote control feature would be amazing as you have well heard.

Thank you..

To clarify my last comment, I have downloaded the beta version running through TestFlight. I can control my MacBook from either of my iPhones, but I cannot seem to get my one iPhone to recognize my other iPhone (and vice versa) under “connected devices”. All devices run the Deezer app normally. The iPhones are named differently. Is there something else I should try?

Great feature! I need this feature to control my Sonos and my Cambridge Audio CXN v.2, not just only other laptops and mobile devices!

I really want this app to work for me. I removed the beta version from my iPhone 7Plus and iPhone 13 Pro Max, then reinstalled the regular Deezer version. Logged out and back in to my Deezer on both iPhones as well as my MacBook Pro. iPhone 7Plus does not have a sim card, otherwise all devices are connected to the same WiFi network, and log in credentials to Deezer is the same for all devices. I find that now my phones do not recognize any other connected devices, whereas previously I could recognize and control remotely my MacBook (not the device I want to use for streaming).

On the upside, I can stream from any of my devices at the same time….I do not have a family plan that I know of, I only ever signed up for Deezer HiFi.

Any one have this feature working seamlessly for them?

The remote works well.  I use iPhone 12 and Mac Mini.  The only thing that bothers me a bit about the remote is that it sometimes loses communication and then I have to reconnect and the music starts all over again.

I did get connectivity back from iPhone to MacBook, but not iPhone to iPhone….still wondering if anyone else has these issues?

OTOH, I just noticed the “Transfer Your Favourites” option...wish that was around when I entered my thousand+ songs in to Deezer manually when I migrated over from Apple Music.

@Rudi are there any updates on the wider compatibility?

I'd love to finally be able to stream from Android to volumio.

Hi @BigFKahuna ,

I did get connectivity back from iPhone to MacBook, but not iPhone to iPhone….still wondering if anyone else has these issues?

Sorry to hear that you are experiencing issues connecting iPhone to iPhone. Which version are you using? It must be at least 8.44. Also make sure that the labs are enabled.
Have you tried to kill the app and relaunch it again?

Hi @Anne Deezer !

I am running iOS 15.1 on both devices. Labs are enabled. I have restarted the beta version in TestFlight, offloaded and reloaded the “regular” version of Deezer and removed the app from my phone and re-installed. If memory serves correctly I have also signed out and signed back in again. Doing this has allowed my iPhone to see my MacBook Pro, but I still cannot get my one iPhone to see the other iPhone, which is my preference. Deezer does work on all my devices.

Hi all,

testing this AMAZING and long waited for feature today !

setup : iphone 8 (ios 13.7 / deezer 8.51) to iphone 6s (ios 13.3 / deezer 8.51). Same user (apple & deezer) on both in a deezer family account.

I enabled labs on both, restarted the apps and that’s that ! Iphone 8 instantly found iphone 6s in audio out / connected devices. As long as I stay connected it all works smoothly. If for some reason I need to disconnect for a while, I need to restart deezer on my iphone 6s in order to see it again on my iphone 8.

I’ll continue further crash test and let you know…

(please make that a permanent feature :))

After having a very informative discussion with the folks at Deezer my iPhone to iPhone connection issue seems to have been explained. I have three iPhones, each newer model loaded up from the iCloud back up of the previous model. Thus the Deezer remote feels my iPhones are all identical, thus does not recognize a different device (if I explained that correctly!). For now, I loaded the Deezer app to my wife’s old iPhone and the remote control function works like a charm...as long as I am on the WiFi network I can be anywhere in the house and control my music….works like a charm!

Will this work to control Samsung Smart TVs?

This is great news and i can't wait to get it for Android. Logically the next step would be to get devices that can be remote controlled such as Teufel Raumfeld, the blue sound products, Sonos, old Squeezeboxes to just name a few.

Could you guys at Deezer please provide details about for which devices we can expect this functionality?

Are you planning to produce any hardware sound adapter by yourself?

Will you support other special streaming adapter producers such as Hama equipping their products with your player software?

Excited greetings

I would love to see this feature come to Android and streaming products like Bluesound!

A remote for my desktop ??? - i don’t get it...better make your app cast to hardware devices instead...

Impatient to test this on Android.

I switched to Android. Does that option already exist?

Will we see a android version with remote control feature in the year 2022?

Is it possible to get an update on the possibility of controlling Deezer for Android

After a month of attempting to use the remote control function of the Deezer app (in my case one iPhone to another iPhone) I became frustrated with the functionality of the feature. All would go well for a period of time with control of another iPhone remotely, usually until I would use the “controller” iPhone for another function, such as check an email or use another app while still wanting to continue using the Deezer app. The connection would be lost and sometimes take a frustratingly long time to re-establish, with multiple attempts to reconnect after exiting and opening again the Deezer app on one or both phones. In my case the problem was solved with the purchase of a Bluesound Node. The Bluesound app loaded with Deezer works well (except for what appears to be a 2000 song limit in playlists, rather than the 10,000 on my iPhone), and to control the Node from my Deezer iPhone app via Airplay thus far seems very stable and reliable. I assume that this gives my at least CD quality to my system.

Any Updates on development status?
It’s 2022 now and I’m honestly starting to loose faith we’ll ever see this feature come to fruition and be as satisfying and convenient to use as Spotify Connect.

Seriously considering to switch to Spotify Hifi (once that finally becomes available). If I do it will be with a broken heart, for sure, but I can’t justify the price anymore if I can’t use Deezer comfortably on Android with my Bluesound streamer.

Spotify Hifi would indeed solve most of my current streaming needs. I would honestly prefer staying with Deezer but if the development pace and community communication remains at this unsatisfactory level I'll switch eventually...

Still not possible to stream directly to Sonos from Deezer?

Came over from Spotify (where this has been possible since before music was invented), and I’m still on my Deezer trial, and not having this feature is unfortunately a deal breaker when the price for family is identical. If you don’t have the same features, you must have a lower price.

Can you please write down what stage of development is Deezer Connect? Is it even being worked on? If so, in what time horizon are you planning a massive expansion? A year, two, five, ten..? thanks
