Yamaha Musiccast problems.

I have been subscribed to the HiFi service for a month, used via Musiccast on a Yamaha R-N803D amplifier.

Apart from the fact that the Musiccast app is really badly written lately, while listening to it, the streaming stops and I have to press "play" to restart it.

Any idea about that?

Hi there, please see this topic and do the troubleshooting shown above!
Hello,
I get in touch with you because i recently bought a musicast amp. I am confronted like other people to connection problems between the amp and the deezer application.
I have of course reset my password, try to log out and reconnect uninstall and reinstall the application, ... In vain

I sometimes do you have the chance to listen music for one minute, sometimes for an hour but it's really often suddenly stops in the middle of nowhere and for no reasons.

Perhaps, an integration project of airplay or DNLA directly in application Deezer would be better than a poor integration of Deezer in another application that is not stable enough.

I forgot to mention that I had a premium Deezer account.

Can you help me make the most of my Deezer subscription and amp

Hi @Simon Ch sorry about that. Do you get an error message at all or does the music just stop and that's it? Can you let me know which version of the app you are using?

If you have an speaker that supports Airplay then you indeed can use that from the Deezer app directly.
Hi,

I see so many problems with playing Deezer on the Yamaha MusciCast...I have the same; sometimes it works fine, then it stops, maybe it works again 2 hours later... totally random ! Is there a clear/single answer, or is it more about trial & error ? I figure the problem is more with Yamaha then with Deezer ?
Hi,

same - and equally frustrating - experience here:
  • Deezer on Musicast drops for no reason
  • need to Play again to restart
  • random in terms of intervals
I did the 'troubleshooting' from Support Team (change password, log out, switch off, login,...) - no difference. Updated Yamaha firmware - no difference.

I tried with Tidal and no issues so far - seems to be working fine and had no single drop.
Net Radio works fine on MusicCast.

On the laptop and phone -Deezer is working fine.

Did anyone found a solution? Or is the solution to move to other service (because the support is not very helpful with their copy - paste answers).

Hi @bazancik

I can understand your frustration. Let's try one more thing if you haven't done so - please reset the device to its factory settings. This worked for a user previously.
tried this + reset of Deezer (as in the previous messages) + firmware re-install - so pretty much everything that could be reset and restarted. It took 3 and a half songs to stop again. And seems to be doing it more often than before.

Hi @bazancik

I'll pass it on to our devs for further investigation. It seems you've tried everything under the sun and still have problems 😐 will keep everyone updated here!

Appreciated: in the meantime I tried Spotify and no issues with playback. So the issue is related to Deezer only.
Cdt, Thomas
Sorry, I wrote in French.

Hello, same issue here with my Deezer Premium account and my Yamaha R-N602. It stops playing songs after few minutes. I tried to reset and update everything but the issue is still there. Please confirm you are actively working on this problem as it seems to impact many people. Also, please let us know if the only solution is to migrate to Spotify. Thanks, Thomas

FINALLY !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I guess I found a working solution to the musiccast dropouts.

It has been a while now I am streaming my deezer music to my musiccast devices . Everything was ok EXCEPT when I was pairing my 2 WX-010 to get Stereo signal, the music had A LOT of drop outs on one unit of the pair.
Regular streaming to a single machine was working fine. (I have 4 of this musiccast devices : my receiver, a WX-030 and the pair opf wx-010)

Today, I changed something in my network ! :
  • I installed a Wifi access point to get a second Wifi Signal,
  • I plugged in this access point to my router (which is broadcasting the Wifi signal I am using for phones and laptops).
  • I configured the 2 wx010 one by one to leverage the second signal making sure this signal is ONLY used by the speakers. No drops anymore.
I wrote this article and the following draw with no drops for 30' now, when drops occured only in a 5 minutes playback in the BEFORE configuration. So, so far, problem seems to be gone !

@Anja @Rudi , This drops problem is occuring with deezer, nas streaming, spotify (I tested all these sources)..... I am sure you guys have some contact at Yamaha we (as consumer) do not have. Could you ask your yamaha contacts to consider this dropping problem as many many many user are complaining about it on the web. I wrote to yamaha support with no answer so far.

@Community, do you see any improvment if you apply my workarround ?

NB: In both scenarios, IP are fixed and DNS adresses are 8.8.8.8 and 8.8.4.4 supplied by google

Hey there @Patafrom

Great piece of troubleshooting here. I'll check with our teams if can pass the message across and I'll let you know ;)
If other users could test it and let us know, that would be even better!

3 days now. No scratch, no stops, no music cracking and no drops anymore. The stereo pairing is working like a charm like never before . So it seems the quality issue is gone for good.

so the question is :
  • either yamaha musiccast requires the speaker to run connected to a "pure" wifi signal
  • either my router is a piece of shit.
What about you guys ?

1 week now.

I did another test to try to understand better the issue: I moved my new Wifi access point next to my main router.

The router is sitting in the middle of a nest of cable (RJ45 and power supply cables).

When I placed the access point next to these cable nest, the problem reappear (much less, but still, it is back again)

As soon as i put space between all my cables and the access point, the problem goes away.

As a conclusion: When you experience scracthy sound, here is what I finally recommand,
  • do what I summed up in the schema
  • make sur your wifi AP is not sitting next to ower supply cables and power strips.
That should fix your issue.

Hi,

I seem to have been having the same issue as most of you. Months ago now i purchased a Yamaha RXA1070 AV receiver, and Deezer has never worked correctly through MusicCast since the day i got it. My partners Spotify works fine, and my friends Tidal account worked fine too, the problem only seems to arise when I'm using the Yamaha MusicCast app to stream music via Deezer. Music will play and the quality is fine, but it will randomly just cut out, so the music stops and it wont start again until you tell it to with the music cast remote (in this case an android phone). Even more annoyingly, it doesnt remember which point it was at when it stopped, so when you press play it wants to start from either the beginning of the song it was just playing, or sometimes from the beginning of the entire album.

Typically things will be working quite nicely, sometimes even for up to 30 mins or so without any problems, but then it will just randomly stop again. Sometimes this happens before you can even finish listening to a single song, and interestingly if you play it again it will very often (but not always) cut out at the exact same place as it did before. This makes me suspect some kind of buffering or memory issue, as i know its not internet related as i'm often using the connection elsewhere at the same time, and i have fibre right to my router with a very fast and stable connection.

What i've tried already:
Factory Reset & Firmware reset (Yamaha)
Delete and reinstall apps (MusicCast & Deezer, serveral times each)
Factory Reset & Firmware Upgrade (Android Phone running Music Cast app)
Forgetting & Reconnecting Music Cast linked devices (along with all the common reconnection problems, which i eventually got around)
Different Network Hardware & Types (Wi-Fi on 3 different routers, and a wired LAN connection)
Disconnecting everyting else from my network
Disconnecting everything else electrical around the receiver
Speaking to customer service at Yamaha (who suggested it was probably a Deezer issue - i'm not convinced!)
Doing the upgrade to HiFi but back out before paying 'trick' (didnt notice any difference, presumably as Deezer have wisened up to it now)

My Setup is pretty simple in network terms, compared to some of the others listed above. I have a wired LAN connection from my router to a switch, then straight into the Yamaha AV receiver, which is my only Music Cast device. I have a 2.4Ghz WiFi network which my android phone is on, and it uses this to communicate the Music Cast instructions to my AV receiver (not sure if this uses a direct WiFi connection to the receiver, i suspect it sends it to the router then via LAN to the receiver, but in any case if i subtract the LAN and connect them both on the same WiFi network, i still get the same issues). My speakers are both wired, and i've tried with everything else on the network disconnected anyway, so i think i can pretty safely rule out any radio interference or electromagnetic compatibility issues. I've also moved house recently, which further rules out any localised internet stability or EMC/radio issues.

Incidentaly, if i use the Deezer app on the same andriod phone, then stream the music to the Yamaha using bluetooth (non-preferred due to quality) everything works perfectly.

I'm at the end of my tether as i've been vying with this for months now, and whilst i have more patience than most for new tech and fighting my way through teething issues, this functionallity was one of the key reasons i bought the Yamaha. Having spent an eye-watering sum on the hardware which is fantastic in every other respect, it is unfortunately now far easier for me to switch away from a streaming service that i'm otherwise very happy with, to one of the others which i know will work on the Yamaha without these drop outs.

Yamaha think its Deezer, and other apps working on Music Cast without issue would suggest that they might have a point. The Deezer android app is fine, and so is the internet connection and ambient power enviroment, so i'm lead to beleive its either a Deezer streaming issue (perhaps protocol or handshake confusion somewhere, buffering bugs, memory overrun, or maybe even just too many dropped packets leading to a dropped connection), or an integration issue between the Music Cast app and Deezer service. If its the latter, Deezer can you please try and work with the guys at Yamaha to resolve this, as whoever's fault it is, it is seriously letting your customers down.

Deezer - Can you please let us know clearly, and unequivocaly what your take on this is, whether you are working on it, and if so when a fix might be available?

It's happened 5 times just since i started writing this reply! I really dont want to go through all the hassle of switching again, but when Spotify couldnt fix their app after a few months of trying, i came to Deezer, and I've been a premium subscriber for over 3 years since.

Hello everyone,

I have the same situation as Mutsy. I also just have one MusicCast device - the Yamaha RX-V683 - connected directly to my WIFI router per cable (fibre connection). All my speakers are wired to my amp - I do not have any wifi speakers. I also tried all those so-called "fixes" mentioned by Yamaha and Deezer employees - without any luck. Just like Mutsy, I use the MusicCast App on my Android phone. Everything else works fine, from internet radio to Tidal or Spotify. I also tried using Deezer through Bluetooth on my amp - it is working like a charm, but I did not pay for the HIFI version of Deezer to have this quality loss...

I read this whole thread from beginning to the end. I simply can't belive how it is possible that this issue is not solved after a year of constant complaints from Deezer/Yamaha clients. What is even worse for me ... I actually DID ALSO buy my Yamaha amp for the sole reason of playing music through the amp in FLAC quality with Deezer. I spent a lot of time building my playlists on Deezer...maybe all you guys need is some contact information to a decent IT specialist? Because clearly the IT departments at Yamaha and Deezer are overwhelmed by this problem or simply do not care...
Seriously Deeser, still no update?! A reply of some kind would be nice, if for nothing more than to show you actually give a toss about your customers...

Tidal here i come!
Hey @Mutsy and @Ryusaki86 sorry for the late reply!
We haven't heard anything new from our developers yet, but as soon as we do, we'll update everyone on this topic. 🙂
