 Our Desktop/Web app can improve, and we need your help :desktop:

This is the topic dedicated to all problems you may face when using our desktop and web apps, big or small.

 What should I post here? :thinking:

  • if the app is acting in an unusual way, when you click on the menus and buttons, for example
  • if the player is displaying error messages, or if the playback is interrupted, let us know
  • if you're unable to login, or if the app kicks you out, we need to be aware too
  • if it simply crashes on you, when you connect or not to a device, it's better to leave a comment
  • if you have tips or workarounds to share, they'll be very welcome too

I just installed Deezert on my laptop. When I play a song and wait for it to finish, the next song doesn't play, and when you press the button to go to the next song or any other song in general, the same song is produced from the beginning. I have to close my account and log in again to choose another song, but the same problem keeps happening again. I don't know what to do to solve this problem.

I’ve been trying to listen to music in Deezer in these pasts weeks but whenever I play a song, it will repeat itself over and over again even do I press another song, skip it, play the radio… The song can be paused … but it won’t stop repeating the song until I close the program through the Task Manager, and play another song, just to repeat this newly selected song. I’ve been hoping for a new release but … I’m getting tired. I can’t listen to music anymore… I restarted my computer too and this keeps happening… please help
Edit: this is happening not only in the desktop app but also through the web.

I’ve already reported this to Deezer but so other users are aware - in the Windows Desktop if you are in full screen mode and choose a playlist with more than 40 tracks, click on Queue it will only show you the first 40 tracks (it will play the rest but you need to com back out of Queue) :) 

Everytime I click on an album the app goes stops displaying  content, they background color and the topbar for menu, minimize or close is everything I can see. If i close the app and relaunch it, the error message appears and I can use it again but only as long as I don’t try to open albums. Then it crashes again.

Hello @Alex Spaseni, sounds like you’re using a previous version of the app that indeed had this problem. Use those links to update it to the version that fixed this issue:

With the app, both on windows and mac, I get a lot of error pages with the last version. 

 

I discovered it when i wanted to go to an artist page, and I got an error. I started clicking randomly on artists and most of the times I got an error page. 

 

On windows the error is so bad that the whole interface of the app turns black, and I have to use deezer → preferences to get the interface back.

Hello @David D, could you let us know which version of the desktop app you have?

The exact same issue happens with me, im on the windows 10 app and i already logged in and out several times and uninstalled and reinstalled and the issue wont go away

As the thing you call a Desktop app is not really an app but merely an Electron web wrapper it causes a huge problem as your website is designed in a way to ensure it cannot be used on touch devices. Let alone all the problems the user encounters depending on cookie and script settings in the brower. Have you ever considered creating an actual Windows app based on WinUI that would allow to use Deezer as the app would adapt to the device settings, like dppx, screen orientation, screen resolution, input device.

A lot of the issues got fixed on 4.20.21, can you please ensure that you have this version installed?

We agree with you in some aspects @DeezerDoesNotWorkOnTablets, the team is aware we need to make improvements to our tablets' integration - your feedback is very welcome and will be forwarded to them :thumbsup_tone2:

Got an update to 4.20.21 but still the same.
Loged out and in and it works now.

Latest version (4.20.21) under Windows 10 2004

Window loads up briefly then disappears. Program closes.

Tried reset, repair and uninstall. Nothing resolves this.

Not happy.

Hello @smallfish, could you try uninstalling it, restarting your computer, downloading again the app from our website and installing it again?

I tried it on a couple of machines. On some the applications crashes on start, some crash when the app tries to obtain an auth token from the browser. Sometimes it works provided the browser accepts cookies and does not block  skripts.

 

On those machines running Windows 10 S, the exe does of course not work at all, likewise on WoA systems.

 

All in all, it went pretty badly.

Yes, there are issues with both version 1909 and 2004, Home, Pro and Windows S. Restarting the app a couple of times can fix the issue at some point. Still interesting to see that the app apparently does not receive an auth token if the browser does not accept cookies. Does not even produce an error message, you are just getting back to the login screen as if nothing happened.

 

But as expected, the UI is still a mess, caused by fixed width values in combination with dubious media queries that look like they were done sometime in 2010.

 

In short, cross platform development à la Electron. At least you have eleven new non-paying customers although they will never sign in again.

 

When i played list song that already downloaded .. the player glicth if my internet connection bad .. the player keep switch between online and offline  its really unpleasant moment .. PLEASE LET US CHOSE MY OFFLINE MODE ..  version . 4.20.21

I'm having problems logging in as my desktop app updated and I was logged off, last week. 

When I try to log in, the app changes to the browser and does not accept my credentials. But it does not give any error either. 

The Android app however still works fine.

Could you please try reinstalling that version and downloading the tracks again? Make sure you restart your computer before installation. If it happens again, we'll get our devs looking into it further.

Sorry to hear that. What version of it have you got? I've sent you a password reset email, please follow it to change your password and don't forget to clear cache and cookies for that browser that it opens :wink:

I always use email and password. 

I don't intend to change the password now, as other members of my family use it. 

Beaside, the password works on phone app and phone webbrowser. 

I use Microsoft Edge as default browser both in computer as in pc. It works on phone, as I said. 

Just remembered to try Chrome on pc, and it worked. 

Must be any Edge configuration.

For the Edge, like I said above, you just need to clear cache and cookies and it should work again. Enjoy Deezer :v_tone2:
