Question

Slow Deezer servers?

I just switched to Deezer from Tidal and streaming is driving me insane… songs cut off constantly. I have a 100mbps connection and everything works perfectly fine except for Deezer… If I want to listen to an album without it cutting off I need to download it first… Some songs would download in like 2 seconds, some others could take up to 6 or 7 MINUTES.

I only had the service for 2 days, is it like that always or is this a sporadic issue? I'm seriously considering going back to Tidal because this is just unusable.

Thanks.

Hi there @Ferna182

Sorry to hear you're having performance issues on our service. Could you please detail which device, OS and app version you've got?

Is this happening anywhere in the app or is it specific to a feature like Flow, for example?

happens on both Windows 10 and Mac OS 10.15 using the latest releases of Deezer… Can't check Mac OS right now but the windows version is 4.29.0.

It happens when trying to stream audio as normal.. I just browse an album, hit Play and it would play a song for a few seconds, then stop, then continue playing, then stop… sometimes it would play a few songs without stoping but I cannot make it through a complete album without it happening.

I tried downloading the album first and I noticed that some songs would download in like a second and some others would take minutes.

Speaking of which, it would be nice if you would allow us to download a single song instead of downloading the WHOLE ALBUM in order to listen to one or two songs from it without them stopping constantly.

I refuse to believe it's my ISP problem or something like that since every single service other than Deezer works perfectly fine. I can setup multiple 4k streams on youtube and have them working AT THE SAME TIME without buffering or anything. Steam downloads at 10 megaBYTES per second, etc. Even Apple music, Tidal, Spotify, Amazon Music, ALL of them are fine, It's only Deezer… I think you have a problem with your CDN.

Thanks.

Hey @Ferna182

Thanks for coming back.

You can download a single track by creating a playlist with it at the moment. In the meantime, please vote for this idea here:

Our CDN is fine at the moment, but I obviously agree it could be a problem on our side. It should be 4.29, yes. Could I suggest you uninstall the app, restart your computer, and reinstall it again? I know your connection is working fine, but I encourage you to restart your router too so that we can rule out a couple of things on our side :thumbsup_tone2:

Nevermind. If your CDNs are fine, like you say, then I’ll try waiting to see if the problems goes away on its own, like it should, or I’ll simply go back to another service that doesn’t have this problem.

Thanks.

I use Deezer all day. No single breakdown.

On my phone I usually do not download offline, but I tried just to measure speed.

Deezer download to Offline on my phone.

On my 50 Mbps Cable Modem: 41 Mbps to Offline (€5 a month)

On my 50 Mbps 4G+: 39 Mbps to Offline (€10 a month unlimited phone everything)

So I assume you should have connection from DNA…

I hope you can try it once again, preferrably with 4G+ plan or 5 GHZ wifi.

I’v seen biggest improvement in my cable data selecting Wifi from 2.4GHZ to 5GHZ. Normally, if you use Bluetooth or Microwave, they operate at same 2.4 GHZ so it may slow your net big time.

I appreciate your answer but how is the fact that Deezer is the ONLY and I repeat again THE ONLY service that cuts off constantly a problem on MY part? all my FOUR computers, both on wifi and cable, two different operating systems, Windows 10 and Mac OS… The ONLY SERVICE that cuts off is Deezer. Spotify, Tidal, Amazon Music, Apple Music, Youtube, Netflix, Amazon Prime ALL OF THEM ARE FLAWLESS except for Deezer… So how is that an indication that it might be a problem on MY side? is 100mbps not enough for Deezer? Do I need to contact my ISP and tell them “I want my Deezer” Like requesting for MTV to your cable provider back in the day? Also how is contracting a 4G service provider to user Deezer an acceptable solution?

It also happens to all my friends that tried it so I dunno what else to tell you.

I think the best solution is to simply go back to a service that works and check out later if Deezer managed to sort themselves out.

Thanks anyway.

Hey @Ferna182

I'm sorry, maybe you misunderstood my answer. I'm in total agreement with you on this one, but I don't think there's a CDN problem because if that was the case, we would've been informed.

Other users are reporting the same as you, recently, as I've been noticing it. I'm compiling details about the users affected so that we can keep feeding our devs for their investigation. Don't give up on us yet, your feedback is essential for us to improve!

I started to group comments on this topic here too:

Hey @Ferna182, @Rudi

I couldn't agree more, Deezer shows however speed I have at the moment much noticable slower than rivals.

In fact other music streaming platforms is balzing fast compared to Deezer. The issue stands all over your platforms which lead to the only conclusion, the case is your CDN servers is slow.

I believe if standard internet speed worldwide is taken in measure for how your server is reacting, you have a big problem with connectivity ( The user experience).

Sincererly.

Thanks for your feedback @eihabmar

You could think it's mostly down to CDN servers, but it also has to do with the app, which is being improved substantially this year. Your suggestions are very important and very welcome!

Thank you for your support as well :relaxed:
