Reordering tracks in Deezer web stops working (Firefox and Chrome)

When a playlist is sorted as "Manual" it is possible to reorder tracks in a playlist and it will remember the changes. However, you can only do this ONCE. If you leave the playlist and come back, or switch to another playlist, reordering no longer works correctly and the changes will not be saved. Tracks can still be dragged and dropped, but that doesn't always work correctly, and when you leave the playlist and come back the changes are gone.

Refreshing/reloading the deezer page resets this, allowing track reordering to be done one more time, but as before reordering stops working if you leave the playlist and come back or switch to another playlist.

Platform: Deezer web in Firefox 68.0 (64 bit) or Chrome 75.0.3770.100 (64-bit) on Windows 10 Pro without Flash (I tested enabling Flash Player in Chrome and it made no difference).

Hi @starlightning thanks for pointing this out and sorry for the late reply. However, I was not able to reproduce this on my computer. Have you tried to clear the cache maybe?

Hi Flo, I just tried clearing the complete cache in Chrome but the problem still occurs. However, I realized the problem only occurs when trying to reorder the same playlist more than once. Here is a specific example that, for me, always reproduces the problem:

  1. Start Chrome.
  2. Go to https://www.deezer.com/us/ and login.
  3. Select a profile.
  4. Click Playlists.
  5. Click on a playlist to view it.
  6. Drag track #3 to be #2.
  7. Click Playlists.
  8. Click on the same playlist to view it. Track reordering was saved as expected.
  9. Drag track #4 to be #3.
  10. Click Playlists.
  11. Click on same playlist to view it. Last track reordering was not saved and from now on any track reordering will not be saved.
This happens with any playlist that is reordered more than once, until the Deezer page is reloaded, at which time each playlist can be reordered one more time, but only one more time. Thanks for checking,

This problem also occurs in the Windows Deezer app, and on a 2nd Windows 10 PC in Chrome. Each playlist can only be reordered once per session. If a playlist is reordered a second time the changes aren't saved.

Basically if I reorder my playlist it works, then if I search for another song, go to another playlist or whatever and then return to this playlist I cannot reorder. I can drag it but nothing changes or is saved. If I then exit the app and reenter I can reorder it again
