Only 30 seconds of playback when using Deezer on Chromecast

This happens to almost all songs. Some songs may play fully, some don't. But it's persistent. If a song only plays for 30 seconds - it will never play fully.

Had the same issue. Fixed it by restarting the chromecast device...

Just noticed it's only happening when casting from the mobile app.
Casting from the web app never causes this issue.

Hi @alex, do the tracks just stop and skip after 30 seconds are there only 30 second tracks shown in the player when you cast? Also have you tried other mobile devices too?
The progress bar in the player shows 30 seconds of playback so it doesn't just stop in the middle.
So from the first second it starts to play it is possible to predict it is going to stop before the song ends.

Didn't try other mobile devices as I don't have any right now.
I'll try to find one and notify you about the results...

That'd be great. There shouldn't be a limitation for casting as you have the Family subscription. Let us know if it shows the same behaviour with other mobile devices and I'll check with our tech team ☺
Tracks from playlist skips after 30 sec when casting to Chrome Cast Audio. I have family account.

Some of track from the same playlist doesn't skip.

Hi @Aleksandr Burcev, do the tracks only show as 30 second ones as well or do they just stop and skip after 30 seconds? Have you tried to remove the tracks from your library and add them again?
OK. Just tried it with another device. Same problem. What could be the problem?

Hi @alex, can you test again today to see if you still have the issue? If so, please delete the smart cache and restart the app before you connect to Chromecast. Does that help?
Hi @Anja, there is no clear way of deleting the smart cache. Seems like lowering the cache size dropped it to zero but to make sure it all went away I even deleted all data and cache related to the app from the OS settings. Restarted and nothing changed.

I even tried tried to remove the app completely and install it from scratch. No luck with that neither.

For me, it seems like the authentication of the user via mobile devices isn't working that well. I can say that with confidence because I just noticed that while casting through my laptop I can see my avatar and username on the chromecast screen. When casting from mobile - there is no user shown.

Other application, YouTube for example, is indicating the connected user. So I don't think there's something wrong with the device itself.

Maybe that will help to investigate it further...

Thanks for the help so far.

This might be totally unrelated but I had this issue once with MusicCast until I figured out I actually had 2 Deezer accounts. Casting only worked with my premium account and I had the MusicCast account logged into a free account which would only play 30 seconds of each track.

Once I signed MusicCast into my Premium Deezer account it worked fine.
I'll add that this happens all the time for me too, and only when casting from my android phone (as @alex said, casting from the web player works well)
I tried clearing data on the deezer android app, but this did not help the problem.
Sometimes the chromecast shows the song duration as only 30-ish seconds.
Other times it shows the actual proper duration of the track, but despite that, only 30-ish seconds of the song will play (while playing, the blue progress bar updates quickly as if it knows that it's only going to play 30 seconds)
Same isssue for me. I am in the process of switching from Spotify to Deezer but this could be a deal breaker. Not going to pay for 30 second song samples. Please fix!
Hi at all,
I have the same problem as described here since i use deezer and feel lucky that i have found that thread now.
Use deezer Premium + on a One Plus 3T with chromecast Audio.
The Songs just skip after 30 seconds, then the next begin to play.
When playing the same Songs only on the Phone without streaming to chromecast Audio it works fine (but that is not what I want 😉)

Hopefully you can solve this issue as it is annoying me!

Thank you in advance,

Regards, Christoph

Try this:

Try logging out of Deezer on your One Plus then closing the app.

Launch Deezer log in and go to My Music > Settings > Manage my account

Under: MY SUBSCRIPTION PLAN
Make sure it says Premium + or HiFi... anything but Free...

Also I can't remember if ChromeCast requires you to add your Deezer credentials, if it does make sure you're using the same credentials as your premium account.

30 secs is what you get limited to on a free account

I’m using a Hi-Fi speaker but songs only play for 30 seconds, why?

You’ll need a Premium+ subscription to stream from a Hi-Fi device.

Unfortunately this does Not help.
You cannot login on the chromecast Audio with deezer, everything happens on the Phone.
But it makes sense that the chromecast Audio must know the Premium+ Account because when switching the Music output from Phone to chromecast Audio then the Phone is only the "remote control".

I Dont have any idea to solve this Problem.

Hi @Christoph.Lintzen, that's very strange. The first cases on this thread were from the US and there was an actual issue with Chromecast. Your account is German and we tried to reproduce it but weren't able. Are you casting in Germany and are you using a VPN by any chance?
Hi @Anja
Yes I am from Germany and use all the Equipment in Germany.
If this thread/topic exists in German please tell me...

I am not using a VPN, my Provider is Vodafone by the way.

@Christoph.Lintzen not that I'm aware of. I messaged you with test account details. Please try that and let me know if you have the same issue with that account 🙂
Hi @Anja - have the same problem - casting from android to chromecast. Playing a Deezer playlist, some songs will always only play 30 seconds, while others will play the full song.

@Aji If it's just some songs, it might be a smart cache issue. Would you mind deleting or increasing the size of the smart cache and restart the app? If it still happens then, could you give 2 or 3 examples of tracks so that I can test those?
Happening to me too account from Canada. Some songs play full in the same playlist and then I get 30 seconds totally frustrating. I tried all of the above nothing works.
