Hello all,

I had the same problem with version 4.3.4 and 4.4.4 (both downloaded from the MS Store) running on Windows 10.

I found a solution that worked great for me : running the deezer.exe as an administrator (provided you're admin on your PC).

You can force the app to be always running "as an administrator" by right-clicking on deezer.exe (generally in C:/Program Files/WindowsApps/Deezer.[XXXXsomethingXXXX]/app/deezer.exe ), then Properties, then Compatibility tab and finally checking "Run this program as an administrator". Eventually hit on Apply then OK.

Restart the app and enjoy 😀

Hi there @trikiman

Have a look here for tips in case it stops working.
This helped me for 4.5.1 as well! Thanks!

The media controls (Previous, Play/Pause, Next) in the Windows 7 taskbar are not working.
Deezer app version: 4.5.1

Please find attached screenshot.

Hello @Rafael.
In fact I did the opposite. "Run as administrator" was selected before.
I deactivated this feature and it worked.
Thanks 🙂
just breif apparition for me that was spotify... i just uninstalled it and dezzer got the media control button control back.
so check if any other installed application could have took the priority of the usage.
This problem was driving me crazy. I noticed that when chrome was not running - media keys were working. It turned out I had google play music chrome app installed. once I removed it - media keys were working again with Deezer :-)
This link helped me find the problem: https://appuals.com/how-to-fix-media-keys-not-working-on-windows-10/
Since i had updated deezer (installation from Microsoft store) deezer dont work with mediakeys,
Windows and Deezer are on the newest Version

Hi there @Eric Kade

Sorry that's happened. Could you try reinstalling the app to see if it works again?

Title basically.  It’s like when I click on the taskbar to maximize the app, it’s not “in focus” and hotkeys don’t work. I need to click somewhere in the app to make them work.

Imagine you’re in a game, alt-tab fast, want to pause a song with Space. Nope. Doesn’t work.

A bit frustrating.

Hello @cristiand90 we are really sorry you are experiencing this issue - we forwarded this to our Deezer Desktop App team and hope they can fix us soon. Could you please let us know which PC you are using? What is your Windows operation system? Which Deezer version are you using?

Hello,

Happens on 2 separate computers, both running Windows 10 Pro latest versions. Deezer 4.18.40.

Also I just realised you merged my feedback with an unrelated issue.

Please don’t do that. This is not the same issue.

Hi @cristiand90

Apologies you feel that way. Pia merged your comment here so that it is easier for our devs to look into the issue, even if it seems unrelated to you. It’s because of the platform and the teams involved. So it’s with the best intentions to provide a better experience :thumbsup_tone2:

Just wanted to add to this and say thanks for all the helpful comments in this thread.

I started using Deezer for the first time today. The media keys on my keyboard didn’t work with Deezer at first.

Removing the Google Play Music extension from Chrome fixed the issue on the browser based player. Running the desktop app as an administrator fixed the issue on the app.

This was on Windows 7. I’ll try it on Windows 10 and update in the next few days.

Setting an mp3 to open in Deezer as the default made no difference.

Hey @Rainbow Harrison

Thank you for making this thread even better!

There's also an unofficial Deezer Control extension for Chrome and Edge that works quite well
