Hi everyone, I’m trying to cast from an android mobile to echo dot 3 gen, and I can’t see it. Is Deezer going to add this functionality?
I have google smart spearkers, amazon Speakers and Sonos as well. Deezer works ok with the rest but not with echo dot. Amazon music & spotify apps do it, so although I love Deezer app, should I change to spotify to get this feature?

Hey @loresore

I agree with you that would be pretty cool, especially knowing you have the cube as well.

We'd appreciate a lot if you could vote for these two ideas here and here so that we can make that a reality :fingers_crossed_tone2:

Here's the steps for connecting deezer to Alexa dot:

  1. Open the app menu Settings_Menu_Option_Amazon_Alexa.png in your Alexa App
  2. Select Skills & Games
  3. Use search tool Search_function_Amazon_Alexa.png to find Deezer
  4. Select Deezer Deezer_Skill_Amazon_Alexa.png
  5. Select ENABLE TO USE
  6. Enter your login details

Hi Rafael, I already had this skill enabled and I can’t see the echo dot…
I can use Alexa to listen to deezer songs but I would like to use deezer app and cast to the speaker I want.
Is that a deezer feature? Anybody has got casting to an echo dot?
If it’s not possible I’m afraid, I’ll have to change to amazon or spotify…

Thanks in advance

Hey @portenyo

Thanks for detailing your request. At the moment it isn't possible to cast directly to the Echo from our app, but this is something we're looking to have in the future and your feedback is crucial to make that a reality :v_tone2:

+1 on that request! It is badly missing and Spotify has it. Close that gap!

+1 Yes please! I think due to my language settings/location in Alexa I have issues making the Echo understand foreign artists and songs. Also, asking for specific classical pieces is practically impossible using voice command. Being able to select songs through the app would be a HUGE life changer for me.

Hey @justcoffee

I completely agree with you: foreign and classical pieces are difficult to get.

But we've been working a lot on this, with Amazon, so that the skill gets an improvement. I have an Echo at home and I'm looking forward to our works finally crossing the finishing line

Hi, Is this in production? when can we expect it to be available? I have multiple Amazon Echo in the house and looking to move to spotify after being with Deezer for years as this is a key function thats missing.

Thanks

It is indeed missing @vijay.makvana.7 but it isn't on the plans yet.

Please vote for this idea here and we'll be able to push with more support :nerd:

Voted on the link and also posting my vote here. Come on guys this is a basic functionality to be able to cast your music from the app to the echo dot. Spotify have been having it since forever!

True indeed @Sashgeahkovv the good news is that we have quite a few improvements pending for Alexa, so as soon as both parties move forward with them, you'll enjoy a better experience. Please bear with us a bit longer :pray_tone2:

I just started the trial and noticed this is sadly missing. :( I have a whole system made of Alexa speakers and the cube connected to my TV, I would love to just be able to cast to it. Searching never brings the right results, starts a random song on deezer.

Hello,

I am on a trial run of Deezer and enjoying it so far. I want to subscribe fully but there’s one thing I can;t seem to do. When playing a song on my phone in the Deezer App can I send it to a wifi enabled speaker such as Alexa? I know I can ask Alexa to play a song and it will from Deezer but I’m looking to see if I can do it from within the app. The reason is Alexa never ever understands when I ask it to play a playlist that I’ve created. Many thanks In advance. Craig

Hey @Cds

Thanks for reaching out.

Please see my reply above for more info.

In the meantime, is your Alexa language settings set to English US? That generally helps improving the result

This is pretty sad. Ive been 7 years a spotify member, recently changed to Deezer since you provided better compatibility to listen to music offline with my fitbit sense.

I assumed this function was a given and your marketing provided a very misleading message when saying it works with multiple devices... ive voted now for this to go forward but i will not have patience to wait more than a few months to see this into a production release.

I hope you guys prioritise this basic function that all your competitors already provide or i guess i will have to swap providers one more time... i hear Spotify is making considerably progress also with fitbit, lets see who progresses faster.

Hi Rudi, If I change my language settings to US English I get warned that other services on my Alexa setup may not function correctly. Seems an odd thing to change just to get Alexa to understand a reuqest for a playlist. Also, found out that Deezer cannot cast directly to Alexa speakers from the App. I have voted for this. I thought this would have been an obvious feature to have in an app. Dissapointed. Wanted to use Deezer but being pushed towards Spotify :(

Hey @William Reed @Cds

I completely understand your frustration, I've got an Echo at home myself.

About the English US setting, don't worry about the warning. It isn't an official fix, it's more of a workaround I share from experience.

2021 is the year for Deezer to improve app performance and connectivity, guys. You won't be seeing many new features, because we want to get these things right, and improving the basics.

In the meantime, you can pair your phone to the Echo via Bluetooth, and play directly from your Deezer app. Got this working the other day and it's pretty cool :relaxed:

That doesn’t work with echo stereo pair, it’ll only play on a single echo. +1 to implement cast.

Thanks for letting us know @zupodaniel and obviously thank you for supporting this future casting option. 2021 will be Deezer's year! :relaxed:

I’ve been a Deezer premium customer for many years (7+) but I’m thinking of switching to Spotify or Amazon music, as both services offer this feature and are able to cast to alexa echo devices (and to multiroom devices groups). I’m sad about it, but Deezer is very, very, very slow when it comes to develop new features related to amazon echo devices, and i’ve lost faith in them.

Hey @Nary

Sorry to hear that, really. It's such a shame because this year we cleared the path in order to improve our connectivity. We're looking to get more devices discoverable with our app and we're definitely updating our Alexa skill as well. Thank you for your feedback.

You've been with us for over 7 years, so you must know that Deezer is a small company comparing to other streaming services on the market. And during this long period, you must've seen large strides taken by Deezer and so many improvements. I say that because I've been here for 2 years and haven't seen anything like this in any other company of the same size, from far.

I invite you to at least stay tuned to our community during 2021 so that you can see if get there, or not :relaxed:

So is casting to Alexa actually on the roadmap for 2021? It's not totally clear from the answers so far, from the requests for 'vote' input it looks like it's not on any confirmed list. This must be a commercial issue with Amazon. I can't believe it's technically difficult to do.

Casting from the Deezer app to any device which isn't Chromecast enabled (already built integration) is very complex to develop but it's under work right now.

I'm unable to confirm if Alexa is included in the improvements we have planned on this feature for sure, but just as a matter of time. As the development progresses along the year, I'll have more details to share with you and the rest of our patient community, I promise - I'm waiting for these exciting and essential features too! :relaxed:

Thanks for the response, Rudi, appreciate you're probably fed up answering this one.

Trust me @FreeTrialGuy I live for this, and I want this feature a lot, for you and all users like me, who have an Echo at home.

But I'm honestly optimistic about 2021 because our developers are all spread out into improving our app's connectivity. Work has started on so many fronts.

What I truly appreciate is feedback from honest users like you, who help us build a case for the features they want, here at Deezer. Thank you for supporting the underdogs!
