Deezer HiFi on Yamaha not streaming FLAC

Hi,

I’ve subscribed Deezer HiFi. I have Yamaha MusicCast AVR. It seems that some songs aren’t HiFi on Yamaha (it uses 320 kbps MP3) but are on desktop app.

Some songs work fine on Yamaha (streamed as FLAC):

 

Do you know what could be a reason?

I have same issue, it uses 44k where as it should be 320k with deezer pretium.

Anyone to answer from the Deezer team ?

Hello. When streaming from musicast, should it suppose to say "flac" instead of "hifi" like it does on for example the mobile app?

It only says flac when using musiccast, so i was just wondering.  But are there any reasons we cant stream directly thru the deezer app? Like the spotify connect does, and tidal have this future now to.  The musiccast app have gotten better by time, but using the deezer app is ofc the best way.  I really dont get why it has to take 10yrs before this to happen if is gonna happen at all.  People like plug and play, they like easy.   Deezer is loosing alot of ppl bec of this, i love deezer, but im wondering about going to tidal judt bec of this.  Doesnt it just take like 10 cups of Coffee and its done? ;)

I have a Deezer HiFi substitution and it used to stream FLAC to my Yamaha R-N803. But lately it streams ONLY MP3. I can't stream FLAC even those tracks that I've used to stream FLAC before.

 

There were two changes that happened recently but not sure if that's the factor:

1. MultiCast updated to v. 4.40

2. I upgraded a solo HiFi plan to Family HiFi (available in Canada )

 

Would really appreciate any help to fix the issue. One of the main reason I purchased my device was support of HiFi Deezer streaming.

Thank you for your report and for your patience.

Nothing changed on our side and the plan doesn't affect that either. Is there a chance you can contact Yamaha about this?

Have you tried any troubleshooting so far? I believe this could be connected to a recent issue we're looking into, affecting other devices.

Seems that multiple users who recently switched to the new Family HiFi plan are experiencing the no FLAC playback. You on your Yamaha system, me on my Sonos system.

This is pointing  more and more to be a Deezer side issue.

Most better solution is direct communication between Sonos/Yamaha and Deezer about this problem.

I resolved the issue by switching my Deezer  plan from Family HiFi to Individual HiFi.  Everything is streamed in FLAC now.

This is not a solution or fix. It’s a work around.

I switched to deezer family hifi last week and I'm having the same problem. However, I noticed that some music was played in flac…

 

Having the exact same issue after upgrading to Deezer HiFi family (from single user HiFi). On my Yamaha RX-A1080, not even Deezer HiFi room streams in Flac. On desktop and Android Flac seems to be working fine.

Also another quirk after upgrading to Deezer family HiFi → I can no longer upload my own MP3’s. Tried on desktop app and web browser and nothing. No errors reported on web browser in debug mode either.

Hi having the same problem with Yamaha a3070. Also in Sonos system songs are also not playing in flac only mp3. Please help. I am on Deezer HIFI family plan as well.

I contacted Yamaha support and this is answer:


Thank you for your question about streaming.

It is indeed the case that the service/s you mentioned cannot be streamed in the highest subscription quality via our MusicCast App. This is due to technical reasons and is only possible with the Qobuz/Aamazon Music HD service or via NAS/server. 
 
We have passed on the point of "High Quality Streaming" to the development department in Japan via other streaming providers, so that our colleagues are informed about the demand in the market. Since YAMAHA is a globally active company, suggestions for improvement are also collected worldwide via the individual country representatives (i.e. us). The suggestions that can be implemented, which are most frequently requested worldwide, will then be realised in a possible new firmware version, if technically possible.

 

@Rudi : Can Deezer help with quick solution?

Hey @Aznaldo @Mirek 

Via the Yamaha's app, streaming in HiFi isn't possible because they haven't developed their app for this type of format via Deezer yet. This is something that can only be done by Yamaha, but our devs usually help in case their counterparts need any support or access to test environments, for example.

@Aznaldo that's different on Sonos, they have this part done - and our devs are looking into this - so please bear with us a bit longer :pray_tone2:

@Rudi The Yamaha app works on the individual HIFI account and have been for sometime so a bit strange that it does not work for HIFI family account?

Secondly I upgraded to utilise HIFI on those two platforms ( Sonos  and  Yamaha) if not going to be addressed timely I may have to downgrade as not worth paying for a service I cannot receive the benefit for. Please keep us informed of any progress.

@Rudi Have there been any changes in Deezer API? Because there are more problems in last days:

  • HiFi familly account on Yamaha and Sonos not working
  • Apps on my two Samsung TV (2016/2017) stopped working
  • Kodi plugin not working

What happened? What has changed?
