I just subscribed to Deezer hifi. My main reason was to use this on my LMS connected to my hifi system. I use Logitech Media Server Version: 7.9.0 on a raspberry pi and the deezer plugin. When I play it says 320k mp3. Can someone kindly advice how to how I can listen to lostless using LMS please?
Thanks

I think I managed to get it to work :)

I did a comparison , mp3, flac and CD. Negligible difference between mp3 and flac. This is switching between deezer within ickstream and deezer plugin. Original CD on a £2000 CD player is far better of course.
I need to see how good flac streaming is on other devices e.g. laptop, android mobile etc.
If someone is interested in my setup I can explain of course.
I have 30 days free, so far my feeling is to cancel and use the normal 9.99 deezer package.

Hi Elwin, Thanks a lot for the update. Flac quality is just not available on all devices just yet. But we're working hard on it! We'll let you know should there be any updates 🙂

Is there a roadmap or an ETA for when flac quality will be available for all devices? I would love to read about any future plans Deezer might have. My HIFI subscription ends soon and I don't want to pay too much for a service I can't use.

Unfortunately I can't share any details about a timeframe, especially because we have to do it one by one. We are focussing on sound systems right now and will add more in the future. But I can't tell what brands and models will be supported at what time unfortunately. I will of course let you know, as soon as I have details I can share 🙂
Hi - trying to understand this stream...

I have a NetGear ReadyNAS NV+ (linux based), running LMS Logitech Media Server Version: 7.9.0 - 1488878280 @ Wed Mar 8 14:06:18 UTC 2017

Went to
http://wiki.ickstream.com/index.php/Open_Beta_Squeezebox_Installation
to follow those comments

Opened
http://repository.ickstream.com/squeezebox/repository-linux.xml
but got a message "This XML file does not appear to have any style information associated with it. The document tree is shown below..."

reviewed the xml and went to
http://repository.ickstream.com/squeezebox/IckStreamPlugin-0.1.1458289489058-linux.zip

downloaded & unzipped. Now what?` there are are a whole bunch of .pm files plus 4 files without extensions...
ickHttpSqueezeboxPlayerDaemon-x86
ickHttpSqueezeboxPlayerDaemon-x86_64
ickHttpWrapperDaemon-x86
ickHttpWrapperDaemon-x86_64

Given the age of my NAS I suspect I have to install one of, or both ...PlayerDaemon-x86 or ...WrapperDaemon-x86

Some other notes:
ickstream doesn`t show up in my LMS Plugins tab, eventhough it is referenced in the example stream
(http://wiki.ickstream.com/index.php/Open_Beta_Squeezebox_Installation)

Also, In the example stream Deezer shows up, not Deezer HiFi.

Hey Stephen, HiFi is not compatible with squeezebox. For a list of compatible devices, check the hifi page - http://www.deezer.com/en/offers/hifi

Some of the Logitech devices are compatible with HiFi. Any plans to provide the Deezer Plugin Developer information on how to access so s/he can update the plugin to add support for HiFi stream? According to the developer s/he does not have the documentation / access to add the functionality. Both Qobuz and Tidal work in HiFi mode on the Logitech devices.

Thx

Thank you. Voted for the topic 🙂, but there is already a very well built Deezer App that supports all the functionality under Logitech echo system. When exchanging messages with the author of the Deezer app via Slimdevices forum, it was indicated that Deezer has not provided documentation on how to leverage the HiFi functionality via the API. Not exactly sure the reason behind to restrict access to HiFi while leveraging the published API, provided you have successfully authenticated using HiFi account.

What development code/api does Sonos/BlueSound/Yahama etc have that is different from published API?

Actually I don't really know. But I'll check with the team if there's any reason why there's a difference. I'll let you know when I have an update 🙂

@Anja any update?

There is definitely different code being used and I am basing that on some network analysis done while using the Deezer Desktop app. The app forwards all it's requests to https://www.deezer.com/ajax/gw-light.php URL, with parameters passed to the URL which include ""format":"FLAC"". The stream is being sent from various Deezer content hosts. It would be great if we can get information on all the options that are available via Ajax page.

Any update?

Both Tidal and Qobuz have partnership with hardware and software vendors to access API which allows them to support HiFi, while Deezer is keeping the Hifi streaming closed off to just a few partners, requiring purchase of new hardware. I would love to see the API opened up / enhanced to the likes of Aurender, Lumin, Auralic, Audirvana, BubbleUPnP, mConnect etc so they can add support for HiFi. The current published version of API does not support HiFi.

Even the Deezer Desktop seems to be using different API compared to the published API on https://developers.deezer.com/ website. It would be great if Deezer would provide access to API/code that provides HiFi access, provided you are paying for it.

Hi there, sorry, I don't have an update yet. But I'll poke them again.
Hi, I have read this thread with interest. I manage Systemline which manufactures HIFI quality hardware, a brand established 30 years. I use Logitech Media Server on our current multi-room system, S7, as we love what it does, and our ability to develop software to give our customers the services they require such as Deezer.
We have developed a fantastic new Deezer interface for our system using Logitech Media Server (just released), but many of our customers would love to subscribe to Deezer HIFI and use it with Systemline S7.
Please can someone at Deezer get in touch? I would love to work with Deezer and be able to offer Deezer HIFI.

Any update from the poke? How does one go about requesting access to write front end for Deezer HiFi for personal use?

@Anja, @Rafael.
Would love to see some traction on the this on publishing the information on how to leverage the API for HiFi. Doing that will help Deezer again additional traction in the market place.

Right now the only option is to leverage Chromecast which is what I am using but it often disconnects and I am cheap so do not want to purchase new hardware which is redundant in my stereo only music room.

No way as of now, but I can ask (don't want to raise your hopes though).

Not sure if you are aware of this developer tool, which is accessible for every user - are you looking for something like this?

Shannon,

I am looking for something similar which will allow HiFi streaming. The developer tools that you provided the link for does not support HiFi. I do not know about other Deezer users but it is kind of strange that Deezer is restricting access to the API/Developer tools to hardware companies only and not any of the software companies. From a business perspective it would make sense to have it available on as many devices as possible so the customers can have multiple options.

Right now the only option that I have to stream HiFi is via desktop application and Chromecast. Both of them work but are cumbersome to integrate with 2-channel music system. The desktop app forces me to move the pc which might be noisy in the same room as the music system, while Chromecast is heavily reliant on wireless and the communication between the iPhone Deezer app and Chromecast is not as reliable.

With Qobuz schedule to expand their services in USA starting in Fall 2018, is Deezer ready to lose customers due to the artificial limitation being enforced by restricting access to developer tools that support HiFi?

Hi there, I can't give you all the details unfortunately as I don't have them either. But our team is constantly working on adding Flac and HiFi support to more devices, especially sound systems, but because of the limit of resources this sometimes takes a bit longer to achieve.
We are in touch with the team and will let you know when we have updates about this. But as of now there are no updates unfortunately.

I fully understand the resource constraints for Deezer team and that is the reason that I am hoping for the Deezer team to release the HiFi API that will allow other developers to expand the Deezer ecosystem on another platform, especially software based platform. The Logitech team already has a fully working Deezer app minus the HiFi based on the published API which currently does not support HiFi. I know of two other developers who are hoping to add functionality but they are unable to get access to the api's needed to support HiFi. Both of those developers already have Tidal and Qobuz integrated into their app and it also provides UPnP/DLNA support.

Hi there, yes I completely agree. That would be great. And I'm still waiting for response from the team as I don't have the answer to that right now. I'll get back to you when I know more 🙂

Monthly check-in to see any progress is being made? If not, what is the process for someone to get access to the API to write their own based on Raspberry Pi streamer?
