Deezer HiFi for Denon HEOS and Denon / Marantz HEOS built-in devices

Is there a time frame for Deezer HIFI Heos support?

Rudi 3 years ago

Hey @SevenOf1

I completely get where you're coming from. I've been here with our community users and this is a subject I take a lot of ownership of.

I've been discussing the integration with our developers who have been in touch with HEOS to get this off the ground. I can assure you, we're now working to get this sorted.

It's a two-way project, but HEOS is getting all the support from us on the integration. I hope to have more exciting news at the beginning of 2021, so please stay tuned :v_tone2:

Hola!! Alguna novedad?

Hi,

i am about to buy a Denon DRA800 and I have Deezer Hifi.

i know there is an issue with Heos.

Do you know if I can play in hi-Fi mode directly from the Deezer app and through AirPlay? That could be a solution?

Hello, unfortunately I don’t have any news about this, it is still not a priority. But I will keep pushing it forward.

@Alexandra Candia Yes! Airplay is definetly an alternative and you will receive the sound in Flac Quality!

Is really strange from DENON (heos) cuz Tidal is streaming flac in the heos app. It’s definitely noticeable difference with Tidal HiFi. Should not be that difficult for Denon to implement flac if they already stream flac from Tidal and amazon.

Just upgraded to a Denon AVR-X2700h and I’m quite disappointed it is not possible to stream deezer hifi on it. Hoping this gets a higher priority soon.

Hi there,

I have been using Deezer for years, and have quite a big collection on it, but if this problem isn’t sorted out and I cannot play HIFI on my Marantz PM 7000N I will have to shift to other streaming services.

What I find sad is that other streaming services such as Qobuz have found a workaround, using UPNP/DLNA protocols that are supported by Marantz (using third party apps such as Bubble UPNP).

Could Deezer provide UPNP integration ? this  would be a viable workaround, which would not rely on Heos teams.

I am definitely on your side and position.
This stalemate is unbelievable.

Please add the ability to listen to music via heos/denon in hifi. thanks.

Whoever keeps pushing this down the priority list, I have serious doubts he has commercial sense, pushing away the most premium tier of customers away, which will be very hard to reacquire.

Take my example, hifi subscriber of tidal for many years, also concurrently Spotify, probably Deezer hd catalogue was more extensive than tidal I just didn't have the willingness to explore other options when I had a half decent HD option. Tidal decided to exit my region so I started with Deezer, first issue, Android auto implementation troublesome, second issue heos hifi streaming non existent, maybe I am an outlier in the Deezer community but ideally hifi should be the niche you guys have a competitive edge in, what are the guys who are making the priority list waiting for to solidify their competitive edge, Spotify to launch HD so the top tier customers flock to them?

I've got Denon and Marantz receivers myself, but considering that the Deezer app has been pulled from Roku, which until very recently was the world's most popular streaming device, and that Android TV (the thing that replaced Roku at the top of the streaming device pile) doesn't have a HiFi option either I think Heos support will be a long way off, if ever. Probably after Spotify introduces a HiFi option. I wouldn't hold my breath waiting for that either...

Hello, unfortunately I don’t have any news about this, it is still not a priority. But I will keep pushing it forward.

What’s this now? I can’t believe what you state here now.

We were asked here in the forum months ago by Rudi to push for Deezer Hifi support on HEOS enabled devices via Denon & Marantz support as they need to update their App. It was also said that Deezer is pushing for that and supports them to realize it and you state now it’s still not a priority?!?

I myself contacted Denon, Marantz and Sound United and got finally the answer from Marantz Support at Sound United in July 2021 that they work hard to get it implemented during the next year. Half a year is over now and I expect you Deezer to give priority to this and check back from your side and provide us here with an update soon, because it should be easier for you as service provider to get an update then for us as users!

My 2 cents as a MA ND6006/PM8006 owner.

Airplay2 down samples flac AFAIK. So proper support is really needed and as a “premium” streamer it should be on top of your list to push for that, IMHO.

After long, very long waiting for Deezer and Denon/HEOS to solve the problem with Hi-Fi streaming through HEOS app (I have Denon DRA-800H receiver) I finally decided to solve the problem with subscription to TIDAL HI-Fi, and everything works fine with TIDAL… a little bit more expensive but smooth and without problems, with Wi-Fi streaming even through the same HEOS app. So, if somebody here (Deezer) really cares about us - Deezer Hi-Fi subscribers, than it will be no need to switch to some other streaming service, but… as I stated… after long, very long waiting… it was time to say goodbye to Deezer.

Jumping is as I have to set up a Heos system here shortly. I use the BluOs app natively in a Bluesound Node V3 and as well Airplay 2 to the Node. On my Cambridge/Kef system I cannot notice the difference in quality at most times, however I have not done objective measurements. As well, how many files in Deezer, or any other streaming service for that matter, are better than CD quality. In which case is there much lost when using Airplay 2? Diminishing returns when there are so many other factors at play in the listening environment.

I bought my HEOS to stream in HIFI and have stuck with Deezer for over 3 years waiting. I’m finally pulling the pin and have signed up with TIDAL, first a 3 months free trial and then the monthly subscription for HIFI is slightly cheaper than Deezer and no issues streaming HIFI. I’ve just finished transferring my playlists. So long DEEZER hello HIFI

I too have paid 1€ for the 3 month TIDAL trial, and am now listening to my music in FLAC on my Denon for the first time.

TIDAL lacks a feature like Flow, which is a shame, but I imagine it’s coming soon (they have personalised playlists already). If at the end of the three months there isn’t evidence of progress from Deezer I guess I will stick with TIDAL.

Hi folks. It seems like integration between these two platforms are almost imposible!! Some years pass by and we don’t see big improvements regarding these two points:

  • Beter interface integration in HEOS (Sound United streaming platform for Denon and Marantz) or conection with HEOS inside Deezer app, Spotify has already this feature.
  • HiFi feature inside HEOS enviroment, Tidal can stream with HiFi quality inside HEOS.

What we can do? As customers we only can push cross social media, reviews and so on. Any with me?

I also bought a Denon receiver paired with good quality Dali Ikon speakers cause I love good quality music. Always used Deezer and wanted to switch to hifi. Luckiliy I found this commity to see that Deezer has failed after years to implement hifi audio with HEOS.

I am also going to try out Tidal, since now the price for a family Tidal account is even cheaper than Deezer family (hifi)! 14.99 vs 17.99.

I liked Flow quite a bit, but i don't want to support a company that leaves their customers in the dark.

If you can implement HIFI you might get some customers back. But it's a shame.

While still waiting for the native integration of Deezer Hifi into the HEOS App, linked an important information for others waiting.

At least some of the actual Denon | Marantz products with HEOS built-in can actually receive audio via AirPlay 2 and for these devices the following information is relevant.

I have upgraded to Hifi and my HEOS App shows Deezer music played via AirPlay on the Marantz SR7015 with AirPlay as title. Looks like the device converts the received ALAC stream further into PCM while the output format in the Deezer iOS App shows Hifi, meaning FLAC being send.

And there seems to be an outstanding firmware update for HEOS built-in enabled devices: „A common firmware for all HEOS Built-in products is planned for the Q1 of 20222.“ (I expect it‘s overdue this year and not planned in 18200 years ;-)

Maybe that finally brings native Deezer HiFi support?!? Let’s hope …

The good news is that today (13.04.2022) my Denon and Marantz devices received a HEOS update to version 2.47.190 (Build 193645) which brings support for Airplay 2 for HEOS Built-in stereo pairs, 5.1 setups, and more, the bad news is that “and more” does not include native Deezer HiFi support.

Is anybody at Deezer following up on this subject with Soundunited (D&M, HEOS)?

Please provide an update here!

With Sound United now being purchased by Masimo I'd be very surprised if they started work on supporting new platforms before the acquisition is complete and their future direction is known.

It’s hopefully not that they now need to start work to support a new platform as:

1. Deezer is already supported, so it will be an enhancement for an existing platform.

2. Sound United gave me feedback it’s on their plan during summer last year

3. Following that it should already be on the way.

4. The acquisition was announced to be completed the day before the latest HEOS update and it does not look like a change in the strategic direction.

I gave up and got a bluesound node 2 for cheap. Good device and everything already available. Heos is ridiculous.

According to the above post from Yula (11 May 2022):

Hey there@Aquin Colaco

Unfortunately we are not moving forward with the Heos integration for the time being.

But you can play with AirPlay and you will receive the music in Flac.

My Deezer subscription just lapsed, and I won’t be renewing. I’m sad but there we go.
