Deezer Free version - Deezer plays only one song then stops on Deezer Desktop App and Web Version

Hi there

My music is not playing on desktop. It plays one song and then stops. It won't go to the next song. I have cleared cache. Done all that. Please tell me how to fix this. I use the free account and I don't even hear the ads and I don't have an ad blocker.

Hey everyone,

I've merged all similar comments to this thread here.

If you're on a Free subscription offer from Deezer, this is a known issue that is under investigation. If you're on a paid version of Deezer, please let me know - it should be unrelated.

Thank you all for your understanding!

Hi @Zenbast, thank you for your message.

Could you please create a video recording of the three scenarios you described (desktop, web, and phone) so that I can share it with our developers?

I don’t have Deezer Free, so I can’t reproduce this. But I’m wondering: Desktop Mac or PC?

I have this issue periodically for some time but starting yesterday it’s permanent. I listen to a song and then the playlist stop when an ads is supposed to play (I don’t hear the ads at all btw). After that no matter what I do the playlist is stuck and I can’t listen to anything.

It happens on the desktop version and the web version.

It does not happens on my phone though.

What can I do ?

Same issue on Windows 10 and 11 desktop app. Have noticed this sporadically ever since using the app. Sometimes it will show as playing a new song that I have selected (with the gradient bar and album art) but is actually just repeating the last song. This experience doesn’t provide much incentive to go Premium and I really think this should be addressed as the issue is several years old now.

I have premium and  it has been like a year or more with this issue:
Deezer will only play the very first song of whatever playlist or album i pick.
This happens in the browser (google chrome up to date)

The thing is it does not happen every day.. Only some days. When it happens no matter if i clean cookies, restart browser or whatever comes to my mind it simply does not work.
So i have to use my phone to listen to music.

This means that this is not related to the network itself. Not DNS. It has to be something else.
Today i downloaded the desktop App hoping that it would fix the issue and mayebe it was just a bug with the web version. But i am surprised to find out that the desktop App does the same thing…
I can not believe it has been so long and they have not fixed this. I contacted support once and they gave me the most absurd suggestion: finish my subscription and to buy it again.
If it comes to that i will simply find another option.
I like deezer, but this is so annoying.

I was trying to find any clue using devtools (google chrome) and found that something is off.
every request is duplicated. For instance, if i hit the “next song” button it launches some request. All of them twice. And one of the with no response

i believe that with the information in my developers console their devolopers could address this issue… if the wanted to.

PD: The console is also showing some error with “Content Security Policy Directive” but i do not know if this is related to the issue. i would have to wait for the issue to disappear (yes it disappears by itself) to compare the console

Hey @jt_2022, I am sorry but we don’t support linux :(

Hey everyone, very sorry to hear this.

Would you mind trying installing the desktop app from here?

WIN -> https://www.deezer.com/desktop/download/artifact/win32/x86/5.30.160

MAC -> https://www.deezer.com/desktop/download/artifact/darwin/x64/5.30.160

Let me know if you still have the issue

The problem is also some of us use linux. I can try to install the app with linux wine.

Hi,

I am having the exact same issue. I think there is a bug with the ad stream.

It happens when I use the web version. I have been in contact with support but they haven’t been able to solve it.

This is a year old issue. I cannot understand how can this happen.

I use the free version of deezer.

Hi,

What @Madmur reports has been happening for at least over a week now, on both Firefox and Edge desktop. No ad blockers here, and clearing all cache doesn’t help.

Hi, i’ve had the exact same problem using edge and chrome, and have tried the below. thanks

Hey, I’ve been experiencing this issue for a week now. Next song won’t start after previous is finished. Song length indicator stops at the end of the current song and nothing happens afterwards. Play/Next/Previous buttons don’t respond. When I reload the web-page or re-open desktop app, song starts to play but issue appears once again when the song is done playing.
Sidenote: ads won’t play as well.

I tried clearing browser cache, used other browsers, re-installed app to no avail. Next song just won’t start playing.

same issue this morning. album, radio, playlist, deezer stops at the end of the first song.
deezer free, using firefox.

I checked with my adblocker, nothing is filtered/blocked at the end of the song

same issue as well. plays one song, then it doesn’t go to the next track automatically. it’s strange because it was working perfectly fine yesterday.

deezer free on windows 10, chromium version 86.0.4240.198

Hi,

This may caused by some ad blockers.

I use a DNS provider which blocks ads and I noticed this issue starting to happen last week, although it was working fine before that and I could hear the ads.

I changed my DNS to google’s and ads were back and Deezer started working once again.

So if you are having this issue try disabling any ad-blockers on Deezer.

Hope it helps.

Thanks for reporting it @JaySea

This is something on our radar, that should be addressed in the near future. Would you mind trying a fresh install?

You uninstall the app, delete any Deezer folder you find by searching for %appdata, restarting your computer and then redownloading the app before a reinstall.

Hey @JaySea

Do you see the same happening if you use Deezer on your browser?

Hi @Rudi , no the web player is fine, just the desktop app is broken. Oddly if I click around inside the app, like going to preferences or clicking other tabs like browse or playlist, the music starts playing again for another couple of songs before stopping until I click around again. Almost like an inactivity timeout

Yep me too, on the Windows Store App. Will only play one song and then stops. On version 5.20.0.0

Thanks for your patience everyone and @Максим Зиньков @Libbzy

Our developers have sorted out a hotfix version for the desktop app, to be released soon (4.33.1) keep an eye on it and let me know once you've got it :relaxed:

got this problem half a year ago on google chrome in windows on two PCs in a desktop application and a web resource.
I am using the free version. I agree with the words above, apparently failures occur when the track with advertising is turned on.

It is surprising that there are so many problems with users and the developers still have not fixed the problem, given that free users also bring in revenue for the company through advertising.

I don’t want to write that I have to look for an alternative, but the problem has been described for about a year and couldn’t it be influenced in any way?

can you do something soon?

Hey @Libbzy

Sorry to hear that!

Is this happening on your browser as well? Could you please confirm if you're on a free version of Deezer or not?

Hey! I’ve since read the comments from this merged post, i see that the issue isnt only with me , I didnt even THINK to use the web browser version, silly me, thank you!

Thanks for the comments everyone, @smeagol75 @Andrea.Amoroso @tiziana.minerva.9 @AnyOldName3

I'll pass your feedback on, certainly :thumbsup_tone2:

I believe it's related to what our @bluezzbastardzz Legend said here but I'll confirm it as well because we've made some changes to the Free behaviour in the mobile apps.

i just checked and it is still not working
