Deezer favourites list doesn’t update on B&O app


Changes made in my favourites list (or any playlist) in the Deezer app aren’t automatically synced to the connected B&O app. Instead I have to somehow force a refresh by restarting the B&O app like 3-4 times, manually refresh different pages in the app and deactivating and activating filter settings. After doing this kind of “forced refresh” long enough, the playlist finally gets synced. If I don’t do these weird manual manoeuvres, rest assured the playlists won’t update on their own for days.

So question is, is this an error in the Deezer API or a fetch issue in the B&O app?

This hasn't been reported before. But it could be something on their side as well, not just our public API. Have you had any firmware updates recently? If not, could you please look to see if there's any available?

I wonder if this has something to do with the WiFi problem you reported. Something to do with how the data gets pulled from Deezer over your WiFi connection. I'll dig deeper if you can help me with more info :wink:

Hi @Rudi I wouldn’t be surprised if it’s a B&O issue since their app isn’t really good. But anyhow, if this little refresh thing would get solved the overall experience would be nicer :)

 

All my B&O gear (Beolab 18, Beosound Essence, Beoplay A1) are running the latest firmware versions, and for software I use…

  • Bang & Olufsen App v 3.14.1.37268
  • Deezer v 8.40.0.3 (iPhone) & Deezer v 5.10.0.41 (MacBook)
  • iOS 14.6

So just to recap. I find a new nice song on Deezer and click the heart icon to save the song in my favourites playlist. Now I open the Bang & Olufsen app, click the music icon and select the Favourite tracks list to show all my favourites. I sort the list by “Latest” – but the newly added song isn’t there.

But it’ll finally show up after restarting the app a couple of times, clicking through other sections, searching for some songs, reversing the order in the filter. Don’t know what actually triggers the refresh, but it sure isn’t automatic in my case :sweat_smile:

Same issue whether I’m home on my Wifi, out on the run with 4G/5G or if I'm at the office.

How many favourite tracks do you have?

It could be something on our integration with third party devices and their app, our public API. We're working on updating it this year but it's work that takes months, so I don't have a timescale for that.

I just know that it'll help our service's connectivity, in general.

Sure, currently I might have near 2000 favourite tracks – but this exact issue has been haunting me since I first got in to Bang & Olufsen gear a couple of years ago, and then I had like just a couple of hundred songs.

Worth pointing out is that if I make changes to the list within the B&O app, the list in Deezer syncs instantaneously. So the B&O > Deezer sync seems to work fine, but not Deezer > B&O.

Thanks for updating me with further details @Peter P it'll be very important for the devs to understand where the sync is failing.

Like I mentioned above, I know they won't be fixing the integration, but instead we're working on improving our package so that any partner or future partner can add a complete Deezer experience, a more reliable one too :thumbsup_tone2:
