This error keeps happening even if you reinstall the app, and it's not a Deezer error, it's a macOS error, and any other app could have the same problem.

The simplest way to resolve this issue with any application giving this malicious software message on macOS is to perform the following steps:

1. Open the Applications folder
2. Right click on the icon of the application giving the error message (in this case the Deezer icon)
3. Click on "open" option
4. Confirm that you want to open it by clicking on "open" in the window that will appear

That's it, your application will be opened, and in the next few times, when opening it through the launchpad or spotlight, it will work normally.

Hello @hmars

Yay! We are glad to know that it is working!! :bell:

The issue should be related to some bug between the new desktop app for Mac and the Apple/Mac operative system.

It’s being reviewed and it will be fixed soon. You can use that version in the meantime,

Enjoy Deezer! :grinning:

@Rudi I tried this and it still doesn’t work. I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling it so many times.

Is there a solution in the meantime? Unfortunately I still have the same problem and use Big Sur 11.5.2.

Hey @Rudi I already updated the OS and I am still having the same error.

I’m having the same issue on version 5.30.110. Downgrading to version 4.18.70 worked for me too.

While you mentioned that the issue started after updating the app, it's possible that there might be a subsequent update that addresses the problem. Check the App Store or Deezer's official website https://scholarshipbasket.com/ for any available updates for the Deezer app.

There is a new version of the Deezer desktop app for Mac on the website, please check it out.

Hello, I am having the same issue as @NicoleCroes. I have a MacBook Air M1 and Mac OS Big sure (11.2.3). I have also tried uninstalling and installing again and it does not seem to help. I do not get an error message. I click on the app and it does not open. It appears on the dock and then disappears. I would appreciate any help.

Hey @Rudi, I have deleted all Deezer related folders. I tried removing the app, updating and downloading the app again. Same error. When I try to open it for the first time I get the normal warning Mac gives and I say open but it never does. I try to open it again and it just bounces and then disappears.

@alfele your previous version did work. where I can find another versions to try the last version that works on my mac? I'm using macos 12.0.1 intel. Where I can find the logs to see what happened to help your team to reproduce/debug?

Great news! @dee_dirk

Thanks for sharing the link with us! :nerd:

Sadly the current Deezer app  5.something still does not start at all on my MacBook Pro (14-inch, 2021) with M1 Pro. Using the old version 4.18.70 worked … will be fixed soon (3months ago). Let’s see … what soon finally means.

Hi @ipetinate

Yay! That’s very helpful! 😎

Thanks for sharing the amazing news with all of us 😄

Hey @firefenix

I have the same MacBook Pro and can use the desktop app without any problems.

Please try that:
Completely uninstall the desktop app
Restart the Macbook completely

Perform a new installation, here direct link:
https://www.deezer.com/desktop/download/artifact/darwin/x64/5.30.140

After that, it should work normally.

Notice:
The first start takes a little longer because the Mac first has to convert the desktop app for the Apple processor.

Hey @NicoleCroes

Sorry about that.

Try this:

  • Uninstall the Deezer app
  • Search for %appdata and delete any Deezer folder you find
  • Restart your computer
  • Download the Deezer app again (https://www.deezer.com/en/download) and install

Let me know if the issue persists!

Hi,

I’m having the exact same issue on a 2019 Intel MacBook Pro running macOS Monterey. The latest version (5.30.140) starts but immediately crashes without any error message. I’ve already tried uninstalling and reinstalling the app multiple times.

I was able to use the version 4.18.70 posted above for about 1 hour but then the app automatically updated to the latest version. Which means I’m back to the initial problem.

Any idea?

Thanks

Hello, I am having the same issue on iMac (Late 2013) with macOS Catalina 10.15.7.

After updating Deezer to latest version, it just crashes without any message. I’ve tried all methods mentioned above.

Luckily, installing older Deezer version (with link provided in comments) works.

Hi @Alfredo.

That’s what I did yesterday: I installed version 4.18.70 and it was working fine. But then, after a restart, the app automatically upgraded to the latest version. Is there a way to disable automatic updates in the app?

Also, do you have an ETA on a fix for this bug? I see this thread was started 7 months ago.

Thanks

@dee_dirk That actually help, yes.I did not even had to reboot. It took a bit longer to start but not much, less than 30s I would say. Thank you.

.. today 24th Nov 2022.. still Deezer Crashes at least for me.. firt time user.. download iphone APP.. perfect.. then download desaktop app an open and instantly closes.. no errors on the screen.. or threads about it… SO, i had to go for digging:

1. HOW TO DEBUGG…

  1. Open TERMINAL app
  2. if you install deezer to you Applications folder.. you have to type on the terminal screen this line and hit enter: /Applications/Deezer.app/Contents/MacOS/Deezer
  3. This will execute the Deezer app and you will receive messages that helkp you understand!

  1. MY POROBLEM WAS: Permissons on .config folder on my home folder. As you can see.. after ruuning step 1.. I got these messages…

19:37:39.972 › Init App

19:37:40.746 (main/debug) ›  App is ready

19:37:40.761 (main/info) ›  I18n: The ressources for the language "es" have been loaded.

(node:2244) UnhandledPromiseRejectionWarning: Error: EACCES: permission denied, mkdir '/Users/srios/.config/deezer-desktop'

    at Object.mkdirSync (fs.js:987:3)

bla bla bla…. long error codes…  so IN RED you see the problem.. when I went to my .config folder...the owner of the folder was ROOT.. so I just change owner to myself ‘srios’.. you can do this also in command line:   sudo chown srios ./config

(off course you need root password so you can assign new ownership)

Of course you can also use finder to change owner … just look on internet..

  1. Test the app.. just click on the Deezer App icon you just installed if it opens..or better..  again in Terminal open the app running the always useful line: /Applications/Deezer.app/Contents/MacOS/Deezer

which magically in my case open correctly the app… if not.. you will receive other error message..!

Cheers hope it helps!

Thanks for coming back @NicoleCroes

Ok, don't try that again. Let's dig deeper. Please tell me your device and the MacOS version you've got.

And if you can, please let me know, step-by-step, what's happening. Are you getting an error message somehow? The more detail you give us, the easier it is to find the right solution for you :relaxed:
