Chromecast from Deezer Desktop (Win10)

Userlevel 2
Would love to know why there's no Chromecast option on the Deezer Desktop app.
I realise that it's in Beta only, but is there a plan to include it?
I'm currently a Spotify (Premium) user and would be happy to change over to Deezer should there be the option to cast directly from the desktop app 🙂

Hi there 🙂 It's going to be implemented soon 🙂 We're already testing it and it should be available with one of the next updates 🙂
Deezer. Sort this out. It's high time you added a cast function from the Desktop App as you promised 6 months ago. We're paying for this If you can do it on the mobile apps you can do it on he desktop. Spotify manages to do it just fine.

Two years later…. no Chromecast?

Months later “it’s in the plans”?

I’m trying to determine if Deezer is a good Google Play Music alternative since YouTube Music sucks donkey biscuits hah…. Deezer is nice but missing a number of important features. :(

Userlevel 1

lack of this feature is extremely disappointing.

I switched to Spotify from GoogleMusic 4years ago; constant app updates and unforeseen glitches repeatedly reporting “offline” have finally made me jump the Spotify ship in search of an alternative that offers HiFi options.
YouTube Music is the worst concept to happen since the Zune infrastructure.
Tidal’s app interfaces and all -round feel is just plain uncomfortable, if not lacking.

Deezer, well,
I’m very impressed with what Deezer has to offer in terms of library & personaliz-ation and am currently running through the initial 3month trial.  But really, no option to Cast from the Windows app?!

Fingers crossed you guys figure out 21st-century app basics and can maintain your cool while customers continue to jump ship from your competition, just to hit this wall and begrudgingly continue their search for “the one”

See you in 3months?

pardon the preceding brevity.
it didn’t take long to find a pretty usable fix.

I’m certain it will work on Chrome though I’m using Brave, but it is similar to creating “Google app shortcuts” by:
selecting [menu>more tools>create shortcut] when on your Deezer HOME page in the browser.
name the shortcut(s) what you want. be certain to select [open as window]

the created shortcuts will be present on your desktop as well as in your Windows Start menu under [all apps>Brave apps] or what I would assume to be [all apps>Chrome apps] (all apps, rather than pinned tiles.)  execute any shortcut once and right click its icon in the taskbar and select [pin to taskbar] as there will not be a persistent tray icon.

the Chromecast icon will be present at the bottom between track progress bar and “repeat” icon.
works wonderfully.

not certain if this fix is already out, but rather than search I figured it would be easier to apologize and post my findings.
now re-curating my Spotify “liked songs” and similar playlists to Deezer.
tedious, but it’s an opportunity to revisit old favorites.  -DZR4EVA!

Hi there @Tommy Barczyk

Thanks for your honest feedback.

The teams that work for our mobile apps are different from the desktop ones. It's only a matter of priority, to be entirely honest.

I'll be passing your comments on so that everyone involved is aware of what you said :thumbsup_tone2:

“only a matter of priority”…? Sounds like an effing high priority to me! You guys have been promising this for quite some time now. Please pass this on too! (and if its still going to be a while, how to I get this previous integration, you mentioned before?)

A year ago and still waiting on this. WTH is going on?

Thank you ever so much for sharing this with the community @hankfrennig glad to have you on board! Will forward the feedback to our devs too :thumbsup_tone2:

there is a glitch when using this workaround that will not allow user to add anything to "queue list" or to set anything to "play next"

-the currently playing track will skip (like CD skip) and restart at 0:00; or if nothing is actively playing, Deezer will re-initiate play of what was previously paused or even stopped.

kind of a bummer, and irritating, but not a total deal breaker

Wake up the devs ! This feature is a must have today !

Hi there @hnadj @Rob Igo

With our new integration, it isn't possible to cast from a desktop at the moment. But we're still planning around this.

So like Rob said, it is possible to cast, but with the previous integration - not the new one which is more stable :thumbsup_tone2:

--> There are literally posts from years ago saying you’re trying to find a resolution. Either your engineers are inept at developing software or you’ve simply been lying. In either case, that’s just sad and have no desire to commit to a half-baked streaming service.

We were unable to make this an option for our desktop app yet, @Progwolf but we certainly appreciate your feedback as we, the community team, can show our devs how our users feel about this :v_tone2:

We get you @Gates Bradley thanks for the very honest feedback. This is something we want to do too, as we have a pipeline of desktop improvements to make. But for the same reasons, we still need more time to get there. Subscribe to this topic so that you can be up-to-date with our progress :v_tone2:

time is flying and no chromecast option for your desktop app - why?

@Rudi  Just started my 3 month trial - time is ticking.  Casting from PC (and FireTV support*) are absolutely mandatory features.

Sounds great casting from my phone, but for a premium service, there are way too many holes in the infrastructure of supported device and features.

(* Amazon FireTV is shown as a supported device, but I can’t find the app when I search for it.)

Would also really like to see this.

Regularly use Deezer on my desktop PCs (Win 8.1 & Win 10). Much easier to be able to cast from them rather than suck phone battery.

Reading back through all the comments from three years and see a lot of “soon” and “Thanks for patience” but it does appear the feature is never coming to desktop.

@Rudi please make it noted that this will be the reason I’ll leave the service, it's low priority for you but it's a key feature for people who don’t want to listen to their music (at HIFI quality) on laptop speakers.

I totally agree with this comment. 3 years for a feature that’s available elsewhere, with false promises in the way, is just not acceptable.

I just moved from spotify to deezer to try out the service again after having left years ago, and this will be exactly the reason that once the offer I got expires, I’ll go back (again) to Spotify...

I thought since deezer moved to a web based windows app (probably chromium/v8 as the engine) it would of made it pretty easy to allow for a cast function.

Some feedback from the dev team would be nice!

Hey @rruss

Thank you for your support and for your patience.

We've just released our new Chromecast integration - have a go and let us know how it works.

About FireTV, we'll be checking this and back to the community once we have more news :thumbsup_tone2:

Would be great. Any update on this?
Are you also testing a HEOS connect option?

Hi @TNR :)

Have a look on the screenshot from the desktop app shared above for more info on how to find the Chromecast button.

Hey @Mummu @peliase

Thank you for your patience and comments.

I've chased our devs to see if there's a timeline on this. I'll get back once I've got a reply :thumbsup_tone2:

Hi @Pia.Deezer & @hnadj

at the moment I don’t think you can cast from the Windows Desktop App (only from deezer in the browser)…?

It says on your website it does work on the  desktop app, but I can’t find out how (macOS). And here I see that it’s supposed to work, but it in fact doesn’t. I literally just signed up for this service, after years with google music, and then trying out tidal, and being burned by both. I was excited, thinking “finally! a streaming service that does everything I want!”

This is disconcerting to see how this is being handled. I left spotify for handling the 10,000 song limit like this, went to google music which is now being ruined and turned into youtube music. I tried tidal, but they’re buggy and not up to par. Maybe I finally capitulate and go back to spotify (sigh). It’s a shame, because I want to listen to HiFi music, but I’d prefer to be able to listen at all via chromecast.
