Chromecast audio issues on Android

I am on the trial and the one issue that's preventing me from signing up for the service is the Chromecast audio experience. On my phone, (Pixel 2XL), the audio doesn't play right. Most times the song never finishes
and goes to the next track, when it does finish, the next song start already 30seconds in. You can't forward to the next song cause the app locks up. I have tried on a few different phones, the problems are all the same.

The desktop experience is not any better. From the browser, it will cast the song fine, and it plays as expected, but you can't change the song or playlist without having to disconnect and reconnect. Any change made just locks it up.

What is being done to resolve the casting issues?

I have the same issues. And the problems are not in Chromecast itself, all other Chromecast apps work fine. You have bugs in your Chromecast implementation.

For my usecases, your main advantage over Apple music is Chromecast support. But your Chromecast issues make it almost impossible to use, so your advantage is weakened...
Which is a shame, because I prefer to give my money to a smaller company (not Apple or Google).

I understand your frustration, but I was not able to reproduce the issue. It's running smoothly for me on an Android. Do you have the same problems with all albums, playlist and even if you play tracks from lists which you haven't added to your library yet?

Unfortunately Deezer IS deeply flawed using Chromecast Audio - run a simplysearch on this Support Network for "Chromecast".

I use Chromecast Audio & Android app on a Google Nexus 7 and the functionality is extremely poor.

As others report the Forward / Backward buttons don't work often, sometimes the button icon graphics are corrupted.

The " Queue" functionality does not work, at all. Click any Searched for track and The Add To Queue option (among others) are greyed out.

If casting to the Chromecast Audio is stopped the App will regain control and the Queue / Now Playing reverts to the position before when Casting was intiated.

If Deezer support is unable to replicate any of the issues caused be Deezer cast to Chromecast Audio devices it looks like the large number of issues will never be addressed. For anyone who does suffer casting difficulties to the CCA might I suggest that the Spotify App does work.

Good luck with the App, I'd like it to work.

Hey Tony, the queue feature not working was actually something that I could reproduce and I've already passed it on to the our technical team. Will keep you posted about any updates regarding this :)
I did not notice both the other issues you mentioned but I'm still happy to look out for other users who mention this. If there are more users with these issue so that we have data to compare and details about the models etc. it will be easier to reproduce an issue.

Can you send the link the support network for chromecast you mentioned? I couldn't find a recent one mentioning Deezer via Google Search. Will of course check 🙂

Hi Anja, thanks for forwarding the Queue issue. The Chat Help sent this problem to the Google Chromecast implementation team in December but no change yet.

The problem with Track Forward and Track Backward with Chromecast does appear to be fixed now. If the Android App can work with the Queue for Chromecast Audio I'll be much happier.

My apologies for a misdirection - I meant THIS forum has reported reported problems with Chromecast Audio.

I also have two issues that are NOT Chromecast. Deezer is looking at first problem which is the error message "Unable To Load Page" when searching on an Artist.

The second problem may be related to the first - my Deezer App on my Android tablet is sending music to my BlueTooth speaker for less than 20% of tracks from my PlayLists and from Flow. To be clear, the tracks play in the App but only a few tracks can be heard over the BT connection. All tracks which are started manually do play successfully over BT. The Deezer App on my Windows Phone works as normal using BlueTooth and that speaker. I have disconnected the pairing and re-paired the connection from Android tablet but no change. But this is a problem for another week, I do not use BT much.

Thanks for the clarification, Tony 🙂 Regarding the bluetooth issue: Does Deezer just skip through the rest or is there an error message?
Ich can confirm all the problems and the errors are still there. I have breaks, jumps and stops, only with the Deezer App.

Some of these issues are still unresolved. I cannot add to queue or play next when I'm casting to Chromecast. This is one of the main ways I listen to music with Deezer and it could be a deal-breaker. Can this be looked into again? Thanks

Hi there, I know that this can be frustrating. It's just that it's not a bug, but just not yet implemented, hence greyed out. We've passed this on already, but we don't have any details atm. I'll follow up with the team again to ask if there are any plans. I'll get back to you should I have any updates.
Okay so I specifically signed up for the trial/switched and cancelled my tidal subscription because you guys heavily advertised high fidelity streaming to Chromecast. It doesn't work/barely functions. It lags/skips/stutters constantly through a song, randomly switches songs without finishing them, has trouble switching songs, sometimes doesn't load at all, or my favorite it just breaks the Chromecast and requires a restart. Will definitely switch back if I have no conclusive answer by the end of the trial period.

What can I do to remedy this? Phone is a Google pixel. Chromecast is the 2nd gen 1080p. Works fine with everything else.

HI @Andrew.Geiger we are aware of this and have forwarded this to developers. We hope they find a solution soon. Please try the troubleshooting steps linked above and see if that helps.
Yet again there are problems with this app when trying to use Google Cast. Before you ask me which device I'm using, have I tried reinstalling etc, I suggest that you do a simple Google search for this to give you an idea of how often this problem arises. There seems to be a bizarre denial issue at Deezer where you don't seem to be able to accept that you have a problem with the app until weeks or months down the line. So please don't bother with the stalling tactics and admit there's a problem and get it fixed! And yes, I can cast fine from all other services with all my devices.

I use Google Home to cast Deezer to a Chromecast Audio attached to a sound bar via an optical cable. All works fine generally; however, there are occasional momentary breaks in audio playback. These breaks are fractions of a second and they ruin the listening experience. When I cast; using the above set-up, from other sources (BBC iPlayer, Spotify, etc.) the audio plays without any issues; the problem only occurs with Deezer. I need a solution to this problem.

HI @Norman.Mitchell we are experiencing some issues at the moment. Can you please explain from which device you stream Deezer from? Are you using your phone to cast? I see you are saying Google Home, but this is unusual, can you please explain more specifically?

Google Home is Google's smart speaker (Think Alexa from Amazon - which is similar). With Google Home you use voice to ask questions and to control smart devices in the home. For instance we say "Hi Google play BBC Radio 2" and BBC Radio 2 will then play on our sound bar; as this is the default speaker/Chromecast Audio to use. I hope that you are aware that the streaming device is the Chromecast Audio; as it communicates directly with the source of the stream; which is Deezer in this case. I do not consider this unusual use, and as use of IoT and smart devices proliferate I think that you will find this useage increasingly common.

The breaks in audio playback occur only when using Deezer. All other sources we use function without breaks in the stream. Perhaps you have a poor implementation of Google APIs and web services or you need to have better caching or streaming. The problem is with Deezer.

I will not be recommending, or continuing my subscription, should things remain as they are. Please investigate.

... I note from the thread posted by @Andrew.Geiger that HQ streaming could be the issue I reported earlier. I use HQ for this Chromecast Audio. I have just changed the Chromecast Audio to standard quality streaming. This reduces the quality for all streams; which is not ideal. I am testing this; however, Deezer needs to resolve the issue as I do not want to reduce the quality permanently. I also do not wish to become an unpaid member of Deezer RnD!
I've also reported this issue before. Since then there was few updates for both Deezer and Home apps.
For me, this issue still exists.
When I cast to Google Chromecast, always l'm facing sync issues (song appears on my phone is not the one I'm hearing), also the Deezer app is closed after a while and have no control on what's playing, when I start playing a new song I get 2 different songs playing on my phone and on Chromecast.
Also Chromecast is sometime out of control.
Many times I was forced to quit - Deezer, Home, Chromecast and sometime reboot my phone or Chromecast is needed.
My total experience is very bad with casting. It is very frustrating and I gave up all most every time.
I Must say that those issues are less when casting without interference (skipping song, searching etc.)

Some deatails:
I'm using an Android phone, Google Chromecast with Home app, connected to AV receiver direct to HD plug, (that connect to my TV - there I see app preview).

Hope this can assist investigate this case.

I've spent some time trying with Deezer Chat support but with no success. I am cancelling subscription and moving to Spotify which does work.

In case others have similar issues, in my case the music drops creating brief gaps in the playback. Usually playing from Android app on Google Nexus 7 tablet over WiFi by a Chromecast Audio streamer. This started sometime in the past few months (I been away/not listening recently) and never happened before. What is unusual is the music plays perfectly for 10-20 minutes, and then it begins to drop, quickly getting worse and soon unlistenable with 4 or 5 stops on every track. Working with Chat support this is what we established:-

Deleting & Reinstalling all connections does not help.

Problem still exists when I delete the Deezer android app reinstall old versions.

Problem exists using Deezer web player on Windows 10 PC (so it's not an app-exclusive issue).

Problem does NOT exist using Deezer wirh a bluetooth connection to speaker (so it IS a Chromecast Audio device issue).

Problem does NOT exist using Chromecast with Spotify (so it is a Deezer issue).

Problem occurs everytime. Stopping & restarting the Chromecast again stops the problem, for about 10 minutes when it comes back.

I never experienced this problem before July 2018 - yes the app was dreadful & hardly worked but the streaming itself worked.

With help of Deezer Chat support I created a second Deezer account, this new account evidences the same problems.

I regret to say the only thing which fixes the WiFi streaming to Chromecast Audio is to use Spotify.

I have askes for my subscription to be cancelled until the time when Deezer developers get their heads around the Google Chromecast and fix the problem, and I can en joy un inter rupt ed pla yb ack ag ain.

When I connect Deezer to my Chromecast I can hear that beep that confirms the connection and also the the Deezer app shows that it's connected. The music however never starts playing. Either the song seems to play in the app but without a sound or the song freezes completely. What can I do? That's really frustrating.

Stream not playing on one of my Chromecasts but will on the other one. The chromecast works fine and streams everything else. When I try to play it connects fine but stops when its loading and goes no futher, see image below. Can anyone help please.
