Back button doesn't work on Mac Desktop App

Often, when you're navigating through the artists a lot, you cannot back to a previous page. It is very annoying, especially, when you are trying to find something similar and navigating by Similar Artists.

  1. Start playing Flow
  2. Perform a search for an Artist_1
  3. Go to that Artist_1
  4. Go to Similar Artists of Artist_1
  5. Select one of them (Artist_2) and play
  6. So you are now on the Artist_2 page. Click on Back button.
Expected result: you should back to #4 - Similar Artists of Artist_1
Actual result: you're still on the same page (Artist_2). if you press several times, you may see that sometimes you're navigating to some part of Artist_2 page, it just scrolls it to top or bottom.

@NinjaTurtle

I'm sorry to hear that - I wish you weren't experiencing that.
Could you please log out, search for %appdata% on your start menu and delete what you find related to Deezer? Then please reinstall the app and see if it makes a difference.

Hi @de22zx

I was unable to reproduce your problem on a Mac. Can you please tell me which version of our desktop app do you have and which Mac OS version you have installed?
@Rudi, sorry, forgot to add that:

Deezer Desktop App: 4.0.5 (4.0.5.13)
OS: macOS Mojave 10.14.1 (18B75)
Laptop: MacBook Pro (15-inch, 2016)

Hi there @de22zx

Same specs here, and it works. Have you tried uninstalling and reinstalling the app on your Mac? Give that a go if you haven't done it so, and let me know what happens 😉
This is extremely annoying, It's been happening for ages on my machine and drives me crazy.

Deezer Desktop App: Version 4.1.1 (4.1.1.20)
MacBook Pro (13-inch, 2017)
macOS Mojave 10.14.3 (18D42)

Yes, I did. I also have the same issue on Chrome 71.0.3578.98.

Hi @de22zx @NinjaTurtle sorry about that. We have tested this again and were again not able to reproduce this. We are happy to pass it on, but if the developers are not able to reprdoduce it either it will be difficult to find a solution for it.
If you have the same on Chrome have you tried to delete the cache there?
@de22zx @Flo.Deezer I have cleared the cache from the Settings/App preferences (although it said 0 Bytes) and have not encountered this issue anymore. I've been testing it for the past 2 days, but will let you know if it happens again. It's like a breath of fresh air using the app now 😅
Forget what I said, it'a back again. Clearing the cache doesn't help anymore 😡

Hi @NinjaTurtle

Have you tried reinstalling the app now that clearing the cache isn't helping? Have you got version 4.1.1?
Reinstalled the app, issue still happens. Uninstalling it might not be enough, because after reinstalling it I was still logged in. I'm assuming I have to delete some files Deezer stored in my home folder.

I'm sorry to say this, but with this bug the Deezer client is unusable to me. I also have an Apple Music and Spotify subscription and see no need to use Deezer in its current state.

@Rudi Ok, I did that, and also upgraded to the latest version. It seems to be working, haven't encountered that issue yet.

Now that the back button is working for me, it would also be nice for the app to remember the scroll position. It's unrelated, but thought it's worth mentioning.

Hey @NinjaTurtle

Glad it's working!
Good suggestion. Have a look in our ideas forum to see if there's any convo related and if not, start yours 😉
@Rudi Nope, the bug is still there...

Thanks for coming back to me. So it suddenly stopped working?
I'll be creating a new report so that our devs can investigate this.
I wouldn't say it's sudden, but I need to do something to trigger it. And it's very random. For example now I just tried going to an album page. When clicking back the first 4 clicks don't do anything, the 5th goes back.

It's with our devs for investigation. Can you also update the app to 4.2.5 and let me know if it helps?
Just updated it and it doesn't seem to be happening after clicking around for a bit. I will reply in a few days.
@Rudi Bad news, still happening.
The easiest way I can replicate this is to click on an artist's name next to a song and then click back.

Hi there @NinjaTurtle

I wasn't able to reproduce it here. But it's with our devs for investigation. I'll get back to you once I get an update but in the meantime I'd suggest trying different things because they might not be able to reproduce it either. It must be very frustrating.
If you reinstall the app like we discussed previously, please make a little report of what you do in order to get the problem - so maybe it works to reproduce on our side.
