Android Auto and Deezer - Downloads and Offline mode

When I put Deezer into offline mode and use it through Android auto no playlists or albums are shown even though they are downloaded. This would really help in reducing data usage on a long drive.

Also, when browsing albums in Android auto it would be great to find based on artist. My album list is quite long and when trying to find a new album when I can't remember the name is difficult.

Any help here would be appreciated.

Thanks,

Have same issue.

Some temporary solution:
In offline mode, on phone navigate to downloaded albums, playlist. Green dot will appear beside downloaded albums, playlists. Dont clear Deezer from memory, Android auto will see downloaded albums and playlist. If you clear Deezer from memory you will need to navigate to downloaded playlist again.
This problem is very boring. Can we have a definitive fix por this?

Hi @Brad Johns @paco62 @Luis Paiva

Apologies for my previous comment, I misunderstood the problem. Could you please provide the following:

  • Which phone do you have?
  • What OS is installed?
  • What version of our app is installed?
  • In order to reproduce the problem, could you please tell me the steps needed?

Hey @Kokomiko

Thanks for reaching out to us. Have you followed the tips above?

If yes, hang in there a bit longer. We've got CarPlay and Android Auto improvements in the pipeline at the moment - so we hope to see improvements before the end of this year. We'll keep you posted :thumbsup_tone2:

Hi @scotjones, I did receive information from our developers.

Unfortunately, Android Auto does not yet have the option to work in offline mode.

Sorry for the inconvenience.

Hi  Rudi,

thank you for your response.

Yes I followed the tips above:

  • 1) I can continue to play the album that I was listening to before I connected to Android Auto. However - as you probably may know -  I cannot change to another album later as the album list  is empty in Offline mode. Clearly I don’t want to stop traveling each time I want to change the album. That is not what Android Auto was designed for.

  • 2) I can keep it online and see all the albums. However, how can I be sure that the app is subsequently using the offline data and not eating up my mobile data? I did not find something about this. May be you can shed some light into it.

  • 3) When online in android auto I can only select albums alphabetically and I prefer to see the albums that I added recently. I am not sure why the Android Auto app offers less useful features that the phone app. Great if you can add this.

Looking forward to your response.

So - I still have this problem. Been there since I switch to Deezer from tidal a year ago. Very annoying. What's the status/plan to fix this?

Same problem here. Pixel 3a, android 10.

Hi @Luis Paiva @paco62

I can see that you're Deezer Free users. In order to download songs to play offline, you need a Premium subscription.

Negative, I have a premium subscription. Mexico I pay 149.00 MXN familiar subscription.
  • Which phone do you have?
ONE PLUS 5T
  • What OS is installed?
Oxygen OS - 9.0.2 - Android 9
  • What version of our app is installed?
6.0.4.7.1
  • In order to reproduce the problem, could you please tell me the steps needed?
Connect your phone in your car with Android Auto, go to a place without signal (3G or 4G). Open Deezer. The app dont' show any music for play. If you switch for Offline mode before open Deezer, same problem.
To play a song properly you have to disconnect the phone, switch to offline mode, play the song in Deezer, and connect the phone again in the car and play again in Android Auto.

I dont know where you see this information, but I'm Deezer Premium. And the problem is not download songs, but play offline songs IN ANDROID AUTO

Thank you for your honest feedback @Rasbelin @Kokomiko

That's not really up to our standard, apologies. I'll refer your comments to one of our developers who can give a more substantial response to what you're facing. Please bear with us!

I see now that is marked as "solved" but is far away from this status now.
I have the same issue. Deezer doesn't display any playlist on Android auto screen.

Really appreciate your honest feedback on this @Nada.Mucho what more can I say? I'm really sorry on behalf of Deezer for the experience you've been having.

Our work and commitment to reliability hasn't finished. We've been taking huge steps to improve it this year - but the work needs more development before reaching the finishing line. I kindly invite you to subscribe to this topic or to stay tuned to the community - so that perhaps you can give us another chance in the future :pray_tone2:

This has been a problem reported at least six months ago. When can we get a fix?

No estimates yet, @Sandro Klostermann. But the next Android app updates should address some issues. We need your feedback then!

I’m having the same issue with Android Auto + Deezer. From what I can tell, the issue is that when Android Auto launches Deezer, it does not cause the app to load your collection (playlists, albums, etc). If I open Deezer on my phone before connecting to Android Auto, or even while already connected to Android Auto, and then go into my playlists, they all immediately appear on my car’s screen. In my case,

I’m not using Deezer in offline mode at all, I just have mobile data turned off at the phone level. So it seems to me this issue has no relation to the offline mode. Also, the fact that playlists immediately appear on the car if I access “playlists” on my phone tells me that the app is not somehow broken when it’s opened by Google Auto, instead it seems some of the actions that are run when you browse it on your phone are not triggered when Android Auto opens it. Maybe the loading of playlists et al is triggered by the UI itself, and so Android Auto does not trigger it. *shrug*

Edit: Android 10, Kernel version 3.18.140-20850384, Android Auto 6.8.613353-release, Deezer 6.2.36.65 (yes, updating now  ).

Today my car was parked at a location with very limited connection. Which led to not been able to accessing Deezer menu in Android auto.

I was able to start existing album, but nothing more. After getting more connection (like three strokes in the Android auto UI) I'm getting the album cover and the possibility to skip, pause and start the song, but Deezer UI is still unavailable.

I have to turn off the car and start it again to get back the Deezer UI with menus etc.

The Deezer app should be made available in offline modus too.

I do also see that this issue, somehow, had been raised earlier:
