Hmm, so Alexa gets it but we are STILL waiting in the UK for something promised by the end of 2017 😞

@Buzzy Bristol I know! 😞 But those are two different projects and it doesn't mean, that Alexa was prioritized over Google. It just takes a bit more time. I really hope to be able to give you more details really soon!

Does it also support the new Amazon Echo Silver? 😉

Alas this is the answer that's been given for months. In a few days my trial of Google music ends and then I have to decide if to pay them or pay for a Deezer account - at the moment Google is winning hands down and I'm sure you are losing customers because, after saying in August 2017 that it would be available by the end of the year, then only being able to say "I really hope to be able to give you more details really soon!" for over 2 months now really is just not good enough!
Not available in the USA until Friday, I’m being told by support.

On Sonos, with a HiFi subscription, will Alexa start a FLAC stream, or will it be limited to what Echo supports, like AAC ?
Can anyone help with when this should work in the UK? It's available to select within the alexa app but just takes you to the skill store, where searching for deezer does nothing.... Is this supposed to be working already or is there a specific roll out date as in the case of the USA above. If there are specific dates could you please publish them as it will save a lot of people spending ages scratching their heads!

I'm in the UK and there is nothing at all for Deezer in my Alexa app. I emailed Deezer support and they just sent me the link to access Deezer through settings > music & media. The same place you'd set up Amazon Music, spotify etc. Not much use as the reason I emailed them was because I'd already followed those guidelines and the link for Deezer isn't there!
I know there is a Deezer skill for Alexa, but it is impossible to get it to play certain music, such as classical.

Is there any way to stream from the Deezer app to the Alexa, as it does to Sonos speakers, or as the Spotify app does with Alexa?
Working in the USA now, on my Sonos. Can't get set as default music service, just have to append "From Deezer" to Alexa command.

Was surprised to discover that it works fine in the car on the Roav VIVA. Sweet!

Still don't know if it's playing FLAC stream on Sonos. Have my doubts, Wish Deezer admin would confirm.

Hi there, I had to check first 🙂 So the Amazon Alexa app does not support Deezer with HIFI/ Flac. On Sonos One (with Alexa already integrated) I'm not sure. But if you have to install the Alexa app separetly on the phone and add Deezer to that app, it still won't play tracks in FLAC quality.
This is only supported in the Sonos App itself.
But we are ware that this is not ideal and are working on some future changes. So hopefully FLAC/ HIFI will also soon be available via Amazon Alexa 🙂

@Cvhicks We've mentioned here that in the US you can't set Deezer as default service just yet, but this will hopefully change soon! 🙂

Regarding HIFI, please check my reply above 👆

Hi @rddavistoronto2 , please see all the Alexa info above 😉
Hi Rafael - thanks very much for responding to me. Unfortunately, the Alexa info above (which I did read before posting) does not answer my question. It explains that I can command Alexa to play music from Deezer. I understand this, I have Deezer connected to my Alexa.

But trying to get Alex to play full classical recordings (e.g. all of Bach's solo cello suites played by Pablo Casals, or all of Beethoven's symphonies conducted) doesn't work. Alexa will only pull out a track or movement or two.

What I want/need to do is go to the Deezer app on my phone, choose the albums I want to hear, and than stream this through the Alexa speaker. I can do this on Spotify. I don't seem to be able to do this on Deezer. I've been through all the settings on the Deezeer and Alexa apps. No luck.

Make sense? If there is a way to stream from the app to the Alexa that would be great.👍🏽

@rddavistoronto2 I see what you mean, but it's probably caused by the way our titles for Classical music work. We don't have all metatitles which would complete all details/information for classical pieces. Therefore you can only search for an artist and Deezer pulls random tracks from that artist, or you can play a certain album. It's not possible to play several albums by only one voice command atm.

That's the way it works right now. But if you noticed that there are certain classical albums that Alexa can't find via Deezer, please let us know, so that we can pass this on to the team. This kind of feedback is really important to us! 🙂

As for now, you can't control other devices such as sound system via the Deezer mobile app, but I hope that this will change in the future! 🙂
HI Anja - thanks for your response.

My experience has been that I search for an artist and Deezer pulls random tracks, or I search for a piece and Deezer pulls a random part of the piece. I cannot get Alexa to play an entire album, never mind several albums.

So, I have asked for Jascha Heifetz plays the Bach Solo Sonatas and Partitas, Christopher Hogwood conducts the Beethoven Symphonies, and Glenn Gould Plays the Bach French Suites. I have phrased my queries in many different ways, changing up the names of the composer, the piece, the artist. Still, all I get is a random movement. I never get the integral album, in order.

By contrast, I can stream entire albums to Sonos, in proper order. I can do the same to the Alexa with the Spotify app.

The inability to play a classical album in order and not just extracts is, for me and many classical listeners, crucial.

🙏🏼

@rddavistoronto2 Thanks a lot for clarifying! 🙂 Just one more question: Have you tried commands for pop albums? Does that work? I just want to make sure to pass on the right feedback 🙂
Hi, with the release of Deezer on Alexa, will this provide parental control of streaming music that many have been clamouring for? Thanks
HI again Anja. Thanks for your response. Yes - I have tried commands for pop albums. They work perfectly. You get the whole album. But not for classical ones. Also playlists. I tried to have the Echo play one of my playlists on Deezer. No luck.

Personally,. I prefer Deezer amongst the various services because it is strongest on classical music (both content and organization of the content). So this lack of functionality on Echo is disappointing.

Thanks again. - Ron

@Brano Bezak and @Jimmibond check the guide above. The option to ask for your playlists should come soon but at the moment it's not available yet and you can only ask for playlists that are in the top 100 playlists.

And @JimmibondJimmi, feel free to post on our german forum too 🙂
